Photos and Description of the Ostia Antica vacation villa rental
2 bedrooms, 1 full big bathroom, can sleeps 4 people

The property is ideally located. Supermarket is 3 min walk away, Rome int Airport is a 10 minutes car ride away, the metro station is a 10 min walk away, with trains running every 10 minutes going either to Rome centre (a 25 minutes ride) or to the city of Ostia (population 200.000). Ostia is on the shore, with good beaches and some of the region's best seafood restaurants. The Roman ruin of Ostia Antica (second only to Pompei's) are less than a mile away. Equally close is the pinewood of Castel Fusano, one of the oldest in Italy, stretching for hundreds of hectares.

The house itself is fully furnished to a very high standard and we offer free unlimited broadband Internet. There are 2 bedrooms, one is a double and the other has two single beds. An additional sofa in the living room can sleep 2 more guests. The bathroom is large and beautifully decorated. The apartment also enjoys a 16,000 square feet private garden, with gazebo, treadmill, bbq place, fruit trees and 32 olive trees!

The villa has two floors, a ground floor and a first floor. The two floors are completely independent, with different entrances and are to be considered as two separate flats - only the garden is shared. We, the owners, live on the first floor. we are a couple in our 50s (our two sons left the nest some years ago!). Our main passion is gardening, that is why you can be sure that the garden will always be in great shape: we have been renting our property to visitors from around the world for several years now (but we are new to this website) and while we will make sure that you enjoy all the privacy that you may need, we will always be at a few steps away to help you with anything you may need during your stay. We have been living in Rome for the most of our lives, and we can recommend good places to eat and to visit, and we will do our best to make your stay as pleasant as possible.

This vacation rental was perfect for us for so many reasons. Being a family of 2 adults and 2 teenage girls, a hotel is not always the best option for us. This apartment was plenty big enough for the four of us with all the amenities. It was spotlessly clean, which is really important to me, and Laura and Ludovico made us feel so very welcome. They speak English very well which took the burden of communication (in our very poor Italian) off us.
We had a car and had been driving around Italy the previous two weeks, so leaving the car at the apartment and taking the train into Rome was a welcome break. The train station, supermarket and the Ostia Antica ruins were very handy, although we drove to all these places because it was so hot when we were there.
It was so nice to come back to the apartment in Ostia at the end of a hot and sweaty day in Rome or Pompei. It was peaceful and quiet and stayed remarkably cool downstairs.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Laura and Ludovico's place to any decent folk. They are warm and caring people that naturally and easily make you feel at home, nothing is too much trouble.

All the comforts of home and more near Rome!

If you are looking for a peaceful retreat after a hectic day in Rome this is the place for you. Situated in the suburban Roman town of Ostia Antica, the site of
the ' must see'' ruins of the ancient Roman port, this fully equipped apartment includes an amazing garden with a covered patio where you can enjoy meals in the company of chirping birds, beautiful flowers and fruit trees. The apartment consists of a spacious kitchen/dining/living room area; a large bedroom with a king-size bed, very ample storage space, and a desk; a large, tiled bathroom and a sleeping area with bunk beds for children. The living area also has a pull-out sofa-bed and a TV. The kitchen has two small fridges, a counter-top gas stove and a microwave and is fully equipped with dishes, glasses, cooking utensils, towels etc.

The owners of the house - Laura and Ludovico - are the most gracious and helpful hosts you could ask for. Both speak and understand English and are very knowledgeable about the area.

The main rail line into Rome is about a 20 minute walk away and the train ride takes about 30 minutes [or less during off-peak times]. If you want to enjoy a walk along the beach in Lido take the train in the opposite direction. It is only a few stops away. The fare is only 1 euro either way. It is also very easy to take regional trains to visit some smaller towns in the area and the fares are exceptionally reasonable.

On the way to the train station and about a three minute walk from the apartment is a large supermarket well-stocked with fresh produce, meats, dairy products, frozen foods, packaged foods and a daily supply of fresh fish courtesy of the Di Biase Brothers. Across the road from the supermarket is one of Rome's outstanding steakhouses, "La Fojetta" --frequented by local townspeople. [You will need some Italian language facility here as English is not spoken].

The centre of town is also about a 20 minute walk away and includes outdoor cafes, an excellent pizzeria, a pharmacy and some excellent restaurants located in Piazza Ravena - within the walls of a local castle. If you walk further along the main street to Via Attilo Profumo you will find the best seafood restaurant in town - La Bussola. Ask for directions as the street is one block away from the main street.
We would definitely recommend this property and if we were to go back to that area some day, we would book this beautiful property again.

Our Fabulous Vacation in Ostia Antica!

This is the 5th Home Away property my family and I have used. We have two children (13 and 9 years old), and are eager to share the world beyond centralized hotels and package tours. Listing 323723 met and exceeded our expectations. The property is exactly as represented, located about 10 to 30 minutes away (depending on rush hour traffic) from Rome-Fiumicino Airport. We took a taxi. Our only minor challenge was convincing the taxi driver we really weren’t going into Rome and really wanted to go to Ostia Antica. The property is located less than 15 minutes walking time from a very well kept train station that will take you to the coast, or, into Rome. The train runs about every 10 minutes, and with one simple transfer, will deposit you at Termini Station in about 30/40 minutes. The neighborhood is very well kept and quiet, and property 323723 is immaculate. It is two-story, modern concrete, on a cul-de-sac. The owners live upstairs and take immense pleasure and pride in their home. The backyard is gorgeous with a wonderful patio. The property has abundant hot water for the beautifully finished, excellently plumbed bathroom, and the washing machine was more than adequate for our family of 4. On a few days when the evenings were cool, the owners showed us where all the extra bedding was located, and turned on the heaters whenever needed. We made many of our travel arrangements into Rome and Naples from the backyard via the Internet. Our iPad connected easily with the owner’s WiFi. A magnificently well-stocked supermarket is 5 minutes walking distance from the property. Nearby is a trash collection site for neighborhood use—including dumpsters for recycling. The ruins of Ostia Antica and the 9th Century Medieval Castle of Giulio II are an easy 15-minute walk from the property. Between the Castle, the Roman ruins of Ostia, the train, and the supermarket, the property is perfectly located. If a traveler went no further than this property while visiting Italy, it would be a wonderful trip indeed. Lastly, I want to express my thanks to the property owners who went out-of-their-way to make sure we had everything we needed. The owners are much adept at English and we had a positively wonderful personal experience. They told us about local places our children would enjoy (and we would never have found on our own). Their willingness to help made this one of the best vacations we have ever experienced. Many Thanks—Grazie!!
