The name itself, 'A Tranquil Retreat', describes to a tee, our fully furnished non-smoking/no pets townhouse located near the end of a quiet road where all that can be heard is the sound of the surf! We are only steps from the paved Discovery Trail and the path to the beach. Beautiful sunset and ocean views await you from the living room and upper deck. Short three block walk to restaurants, shops, and activities in downtown Long Beach. If you are looking for a party house, than this isn't it at all . . . the neighborhood couldn't be any quieter than this!

Upstairs is an open floor plan with living room, dining area with seating for six, a 1/2 bath, and a fully stocked kitchen. The upstairs deck has a tabletop propane BBQ grill, and a wonderful ocean view. There is an upgraded queen sofabed in the living room. Downstairs is the master bedroom with a walk-in closet, and a deck that overlooks the famous Bolstad beach approach kite and fireworks displays during fourth of July, the Kite Festival in August, and New Years Eve. There is a Parklane King bed with premium hotel grade mattress/boxsprings. On this same floor there is a guest room with a Parklane Queen bed, with premium hotel grade mattress/boxspring. Bedbug protection on all mattresses. In addition, a full bath with tub and shower, a washer and dryer, and a one car garage are located on the first floor.

Free Wi-Fi; three TV's with cable, DVD player, and a stereo are provided for your comfort and pleasure. There are board games, puzzles for those rainy days at the beach, and a propane fireplace for those chilly evenings. Maximum six people, including children. No pets, no smoking. No RV's due to limited space unless parked on north side of road.

About The Owner

My husband and I have been coming to Long Beach for annual 'retreats' since we met in 1984. Because we spend so much time at the beach, we decided to buy a home here.

Quiet, peaceful, serene, home away from home with a view! Far away from the every day noise, stress, and gridlock. All you hear is the sound of that surf! What you see is ocean and beautiful sunsets. Our 'Ahhhh' moments. . . Keeps the blood pressure down. Can't get any better than this!

Truly a Tranquil Retreat Only Steps from the Beach

I stayed in a Tranquil Retreat for four nights with friends. We're all writers and wanted a quiet "home base" for writing, reading, and relaxing, and to use as a jumping off point for all the nearby attractions. We were delighted by the comfort and luxury. The condo is clean, inviting, and the beds are extremely comfortable. The upstairs living room is actually brighter than it appears in the photograph, the entire common area quite spacious and airy. The beach and Discovery Trail are only a few steps away, and the restaurants and boutiques are also within easy walking distance. We appreciated the propane fireplace, views of spectacular sunsets (and a rainbow to the east one evening!), and the amenities - hair dryer, coffee maker, soap, restaurant menus, Discovery Trail maps, books, extra pillows and blankets. We enjoyed our time together as friends, catching up with each others' lives in such a lovely, tranquil environment. Thank you so much, Cathy and James.

Amazing Anniversary!

15th Anniversary ... Townhouse was very so lovely. Very tastefully decorated, colors were so relaxing.
The location was perfect walk to the beach, so quiet and romantic. Just what every couple that wants to get away and spend quality time would love. This place had everything! The photos were very accurate.
I would recommend this place to all my friends. Close to all activities, shops, and dining.

Nicely sized, nicely equipped

This is a great beach house rental for small families - with the two bedrooms downstairs and the open floor plan upstairs, you have plenty of space without it being too big. It is very well-equipped, with safety in mind, down to the child-proofing outlet covers, nightlights and emergency flashlights. The kitchen was well-supplied too - you can tell the owners spend time here.

There is a washer/dryer - detergent is supplied but only enough for one personal load, so if you might need to do more than that, you'll need to bring your own.

We enjoyed playing on the beach and walking into town (via the trail and the beach - wish we could have brought our bikes with us!). There's a lot to see on the peninsula, including the cranberry museum/demo farm and Cape Disappointment State Park, plus more beaches and Lewis & Clark sites on the Oregon side of the Columbia River.

Utterly relaxing-just the sound of the waves and wind

If you desperately need to deeply relax, this is the place for you! Beautifully maintained, the MOST comfortable bedding ever, everything you could ever need to soothe your soul.

This place is QUIET. On a dead-end street just steps away from Discovery Trail, with the ocean just on the other side of the sand dunes. Town is about 2 minutes by car. Red Box movie rentals available at Sid's IGA grocery. Delicious food at Lost Roo's, Castaways, and Chen's Chinese. Gorgeous scenery everywhere.

As a single mom and daughter, we are always a bit concerned about safety. We LOVED the drive-in garage (Jim and Cathy provide you with a garage door opener). We felt totally safe and secure during our visit.

We would HIGHLY recommend A Tranquil Retreat to anyone-single women, families with kids, seniors-this place is GREAT! There wasn't one single thing about our accommodations that we didn't love and appreciate.

Everything stated in these reviews is true!! You cannot be at A Tranquil Retreat and not relax! Everything about it says "luxury"!! One of the few vacation getaways I don't have to sanitize when I arrive!! It is immaculate....inviting....comfortable...luxurious!! The view spectacular! Our favorite place at the beach!! Wonderful time at A Tranquil Retreat

We just got back from our vacation and wanted to tell you that we really enjoyed our stay at your place - A Tranquil Retreat. The only regret we had was not staying longer! The day we left was gorgeous, which made it even harder to leave. Thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us. We have friends who are looking to go out to the coast next month so we will definitely recommend your place to them.

The unit was clean and bright. We have two little kids so the open floor plan upstairs worked great for us. We like having a garage as well - nice bonus.

Delightfully Relaxing, Stunningly Beautiful, Family Freindly

Cathy and James have created a little slice of heaven in Long Beach WA. We were lucky enough to have excellent weather also.
The listing is throughly accurate, but incomplete, in that the owners have provided so many additional items (cooking accoutrements, books, movies, etc.). It's as if they just left their home to go shopping.
The town of Long Beach is easily within walking distance. It is a tourist town but entertaining.
The Discovery Trail situated within the dunes was a star attraction! It is smooth asphalt, easily accessed with frquent access/departure points, bike and walking friendly, provideds excellent wild life viewing, undulates for several miles with good protection from the beach wind.
All in all a great place to share with friends or family. As for me and mine we will return many more times I'm sure.

weekend at Long beach

We stayed at the Quiet retreat this past weekend. What a nice place.
The town house was very nice, we like the open great room upstairs. The art and furnishing were warm and inviting. I like that you could see the Ocean and having a deck off the great room was nice. The weather for us on saturday was very nice. We did not have a chance to walk down to the boardwalk, But it is very close to the town house. Hopefully next time. :o)
