Lakeside, MI. 2 Bedroom, 1 Bath - Lovingly cared for by owners for over 28 years

As soon as you enter our adorable cottage you will be welcomed by the original woodwork and wood floors. This small 2 bedroom, (updated 1 bathroom and quaint kitchen ) will make you immediately unwind. Your here! We have tried to keep the feel from the 30's and 40's time period with our decorating. This is a place for making wonderful memories. Watch the birds while sipping your morning coffee. The private association beach is about a one block walk to Lake Michigan. There are 45 steps down to the sand. Come back and grill or get ready for dinner (many great restaurants from casual to dressy in the vicinity). Enjoy an evening down on the beach to watch a wonderful sunset and back up to play board games, bean bags or badminton. This is a place where you can relax and catch up on those books to read, organize those photo albums you have been meaning to put in order.

Summer 2013 Reservations Now In Progress: Plan a week or weekend away for wine tasting at one of local wineries. Grab a bottle of wine and head down to our private beach to watch the sunset around a campfire. Get away for some quality family time. Take a hike through the woods, jog along Lakeshore Road or on the beach. Take a morning walk (a nice stretch of the legs to get the paper and a great cup of coffee). The numerous restaurants are great and the atmosphere is totally relaxing. Many of the restaurants offer great weekday specials. Try your luck at Four Winds or Blue Chip Casino. A Little Bit O'Heaven makes you feel so comfortable that we guarantee an afternoon nap is in order.

About Rita McGarry

I was fortunate to spend all my summer's in Lakeside, Michigan from Memorial Day through Labor Day from 1960 to 1971. My parents sold 'Happy Stay' in 1971 and it was something everyone had always regretted. My brother, husband and I purchased A Little Bit O'Heaven in 1985 and every time I arrive I know it is A Wonderful Life. My husband enjoys the Fall and peaceful walks along the lake as you can see in the photo above. As for me...I cannot think of a happier place, than to have had the opportunity to watch my children grow up and enjoy their childhood in Lakeside.

Why Rita McGarry chose Lakeside

It just so happens we were driving around the Harbor Country area in 1985, reminiscing about our wonderful memories in Lakeside. It was just by luck (long story), that the cottage next to our parents old one 'Happy Stay' was for sale. We had no intention of buying a property, but we could not pass it up. Here we are 28 years later...our children now have the same wonderful memories we had and most of our renters are now repeat customers for 25 years plus. This place is definitely made for wonderful, leave the chaotic world behind fun and memories!

What makes this cottage unique

There are so many things that make people fall in love with 'A Little Bit O'Heaven'. #1 is the beach. The home is small, but feels like you have been here before and it makes you feel like it is has been waiting just for you. You come with a certain level of what to expect and it's simpleness just makes you fall in love with it even more. It has a special feeling about it!

Wonderful home which has been lovingly maintained. Top line heating, cooling, laundry and bathroom facilities. Home is a short walk to the beach. The owners went out of their way to help us - directions, where to find the Chicago papers, a red wagon for the grandchildren!

We have rented this lovely cottage at various times over a twenty year period. We now have the fun of introducing a new generation to the Lake Michigan beach.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

My husband and I had a wonderful time. The cottage is charming, comfortable and clean. We also enjoyed the lovely back yard and the close proximity to Lake Michigan. It was only a 5 minute walk to the most beautiful private beach! The owners provided everything and were most helpful telling us the best places to dine and where to find the closest coffee shop. We've already recommended this cottage to our family and we would love to go back sometime.

We stayed for 10 days a couple of summers ago and it was one of our best vacations in our memory! Lazy summer days -- cooking out -- sleeping late -- walking down to the private beach. Unforgettable!

This is a very quaint, very charming cottage. The kitchen and bathroom are updated and the decor throughout the cottage is a perfect complement to the original features as well as the improvements. The grounds surrounding the cottage are well maintained and are as beautiful as the inside. The private beach is a big bonus - it is clean, relaxing, and never crowded.
I have been coming here for the last few years and have found the owners to be very accommodating. Other people in the area are friendly and it is a great place to take long walks or bike rides.This is the perfect place to relax and enjoy beautiful Lake Michigan. Only an hour from Chicago, but you feel very far away!
