Great Weekend Getaway

Ricky NYC New York City
Review Submitted: October 10, 2009 Date of Stay: January 2009
We stayed here for two separate weekends and it was great both times! A nice and quiet escape from New York city (where our group is from). The location is close by to several mountains so it's also a good in-between if you want to do winter activities. We didn't actually go to into town so we don't know how that it. In terms of the house itself, it's very clean, well-maintained, and nicely decorated (we loved the sheepskin rugs). The hot tub was one of the main attractions for us - it fit all 6 of us and was especially beautiful under the star-filled skies. The owner, Diane, was really nice and helpful. We definitely recommend this place and would come back again. Two notes, if anything: 1) the Woodstock area can be a little quiet/dark in the night so if you are driving make sure you have maps, and 2) they house has internet but you need to be plugged in - bring a wireless access point if you have a laptop.

My Review

We just returned from our 3rd summer renting this house. We are a family of four: Mom, Dad, and two daughters, ages 15 and 11. The house is beautiful, immaculate, comfortable, and well maintained. The views are breathtaking with the Berkshires on one side and Mt. Overlook on the other. The front porch looks out onto the wildflower meadow, home to hummingbirds, orioles, butterflies, bees, frogs, and more. The description and photos are accurate, only the house and property are more beautiful in person. The owner, Diane, is totally available by phone, should the need arise, and is attentive and timely in responding to whatever might come up.
In terms of things to do, there are many galleries in Woodstock and the surrounding area. The Elena Zang Gallery past Bearsville, in Shady, is well worth the 5 minute drive from town, and shows the works of prominent artists. Hiking Mt. Overlook is amazing. It is not an easy hike though, bring water, and snacks. The Buddhist Temple on Mt. Overlook is a work of art. The monks are friendly and kind. There is a bar/restaurant in Saugerties called the Pig, look for orange pig sign on Partition Street. Before 9pm it is a place where people go to eat, after 9 it's a bar scene. The food is excellent. The salads are delicious and there are many vegetarian choices. The new restaurant in town (Woodstock) called Cucina is very good but overpriced. It is very easy to cook at the house too. The kitchen is very functional, and we have had great meals at home there as well. There is also a gas grill for barbeque. The house has a washer and a drier, both of which are in perfect working order. So, we always leave as we came, with clean clothes in our bags. We all can't wait to go back to Diane's house, and I highly recommend this property!!!

I rented the house for a birthday weekend last January with my girlfriends and had the most amazing time! The owner, Diane, is super friendly and helpful - she made my experience all the more memorable. I am planning a return trip up there as soon as I can!

This house is secluded and beautiful. We rented it and invited friends to spend a long weekend with us. The views from the living room are spectacular! We really enjoyed our weekend and highly recommend as a quiet place to rest, relax and spend time with family and friends!

Beautiful home with amazing views

Review Submitted: August 5, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
My sisters and I have rented this house for three years in a row. Each year we are amazed at how beautiful and well maintained the house and the surrounding area is. It is wonderful to be able to sit in the hot tub or out on the front porch and view the amazing scenery. Also, the owner is a pleasure to rent from and is quick to respond to any questions you may have. I would definitely recommend renting this property and the pictures do not begin to capture how magnificent the house is.

What a View

From the Area New York, NY
Review Submitted: July 20, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
Having grown up in the Kingston area, I was surprised at how close this house was to Woodstock and how awesome the views were. The owner is particular about keeping the place clean, but we understood why when we went there for a long weekend. It's immaculate and absolutely perfect. The nicest part was the fresh apples the owner left in the kitchen. Very thoughtful. That and just looking out the windows or sitting on the porch staring at the mountains. I'd recommend it more, but I don't want you taking it away from us the next time we head up there!

Six of my friends and myself rented this home in Woodstock. We found it to be very relaxing and came equipped with everything we could need. We especially enjoyed our time in the hot-tub and the front porch relaxing with coffee. The view is beautiful of the Berkshire Mtns. Woodstock is always a fun town to get away we would all recommend this home for a weekend getaway or some family time.

this house rental exceeded all my expectiations. on a fantastic piece of property with excellent views and privacy, this place has an open, fresh and simple quality to it that made it ideal for a gathering of old friends. we all slept well on the comfortable beds, cooked great meals and enjoyed the clean air on the decks. we sat around on the hardwood floors with a fire burning every night. one of these days, i'll have a place like this for my family...
...and Diane was a pleasure to rent from.

this is the second stay and each time it's gets better and better! The house is beautiful, the gardens are beautiful, and the views from the porches....!!! It's so close to Woodstock and Saugerties, great places to eat and shop. Just a wonderful experience all the way around. (and i've NEVER seen such a clean and beautifully decorated rental house!) Found a great place to hike this time, 15min from the house up Plattenkill (sp?)road and am thinking about a winter trip back to snoweshoe it (then straight into the outdoor hot tub!) Have already recommended it to many friends and will definitely be back!

Home Sweet Getaway

Patty P New York, NY
Review Submitted: August 11, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
My friends and I rented this house for a weekend in June and had a wonderful time. Along with the house being magnificent (we are worried about renting a different house in the poconos in a few weeks because our standards are so high now) the town of Woodstock is cute/artsy. There are a lot of things to do in town as well as outdoor activities such as water rafting and hiking. The house was extremely comfortable and we were pleasently surprised to find that we could all walk around in robes (supplied by owner) all weekend. I would definitely reccomend this house to anyone who wants a quiet weekend in a gorgeous house.
