This is THE place for a large girlfriend group or a two small families to vacation.

Our first time to OOB, we were pleased to land up near Pine Point where the beach homes are very residential. 15 minutes from PWM and Portland itself was great too. Steps to the beach is a very accurate statement.

This is a very old house, renovated with care and filled with cozy furnishings. All beds had upscale bedding, which is hard to find in rental homes. I can think of five different seating areas where members of our girlfriend group congregated to chat. Eight to ten were playing cards in the sunroom well into the night. Two fireplaces were welcome on a cold week in early June.

The owners (kindly) accommodated 12 of us for this trip, which was a stretch, considering 2.5 baths. We also rented the cottage across Grand Ave for three more people. I'd suggest that anyone else might choose Holiday House next door as an alternative for overflow housing.

The owners are exceptional. Very patient, willing...they go out of their way. Jack was at the house on Saturday AM, pressure washing just for us, while the cleaning person was spiffing up the interior. They care that much. Everything works!

This is a great value! Feel free to contact us.

I would highly recommend this "cottage" (more like a house!) It truly was loaded with charm. Everything you could possibly need was there. All the comforts of home and then some! We shared this cottage with two other couples and there was plenty of space to get away for time alone. Steps to the beach - the kids loved jumping in the waves and collecting sea shells. Lots of shopping close by. More importantly, lots of lobster close by! And, tons of ambiance!

Charming Home and Location for Vacation

Sue and Family Liverpool, New York
Review Submitted: July 28, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
Our family experienced a wonderful and relaxing vacation in this beautiful home. Jack and Kelsa's care and sense of hospitality are evident in every detail of each room of the house. After a week there, we were all still discovering special touches. The weather was awful, but the charm of the house made it totally okay. The little ones enjoyed the toys, books and videos while the adults enjoyed the inside and outside porches for great conversation, and the TVs for the Red Sox games. Everyone enjoyed the bikes that were provided as well as the beach chairs. Previously we rented a beautiful home from 1980 -1999 in the same area. Our family loved everything about that house. Sadly the family decided it would no longer be a rental. We rented four other homes over the next 8 years in hopes of finding a replacement. None of them came close to our 1st rental until now. We all agreed that this is the best house/home we have ever rented. The kitchen is equipped beyond any expectation. The dining room is large and inviting. Words can not describe the beauty of the new porches both up and downstairs.
Thank you Jack and Kelsa for sharing your charming home with us.

Relaxing Vacation at Maine Beach House

Always Houston, TX
Review Submitted: July 1, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
This place was wonderful! It was roomy and clean while still being quaint. All necessities were supplied for our family. We had plenty of room to gather together or go our separate ways while still being in the same house. We so enjoyed our walks on the beach. The sun, rain and weather were perfect! It was relaxing to sit on the porches and enjoy the view. Also enjoyed the beautiful books provided for our enjoyment. We bought lobster at Bayley's and brought it back to the house for dinner. We would definitely recommend this place for Maine enjoyment!

What a great family vacation! Jack and Kelsa were so helpful and friendly, and the house is just wonderful. Like staying in an old friend's house, we felt at home from the moment we arrived. And plenty to do, all typical Americana summer activities: fishing, watching Sox farm team baseball, old-timey amusement park fun, whale-watching, and shopping. The McDermotts will even tell you where to get the best lobster (and lobster rolls!)for your clambake. Great place!
