Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

Enjoy a get-away to our cabin in Packwood, WA, near Mt. Rainier National Park and White Pass Ski Resort. View deer and elk, hike to nearby rivers to fish, and enjoy the cabin's hot tub year-round. Summer offers 2 community pools...one for good swimmers and another for small children. There's also a community tennis court, playground, basketball court, horseshoes, and large baseball field area. For those who like to hike, the cabin has a laminated Northwest Forest Pass for you to use while staying at the cabin (normally a $30 purchase, necessary to hike to Packwood Lake and other areas). Simply leave it in the cabin when you leave, and there's no charge to you! In winter, there are lots of areas to sled, some within walking distance! Listen to the birds and watch the chipmunks.

The cabin includes one loft bedroom with two full-size beds and a queen bed. There's also a pull-out couch. We have a variety of games, books, and movies available when you are not watching the fire in the wood stove or relaxing in the large jetted hot tub. Enjoy cable tv (as of 1/3/12) or watch a movie from the cabin collection. An entrance to the cabin has plenty of room to store your skis, boots, and snowboards in winter, and to keep your air mattresses for the pool in summer. Relax on the spacious deck for some sun or a family picnic, while viewing the mountain hills of Goat Rocks nearby. Hook up to Wifi at the community pool nearby.

Packwood is famous for having the largest outdoor market in WA on both Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. Or eat pizza at Cruisers, hike to Packwood Lake for the day, visit Paradise or Ohanapecosh at Mt. Rainier to enjoy a ranger led walk or a campfire talk, attend Packwood's Holiday Bazaar, Quilt Show, Art, or Rod Run weekends. The Cowlitz River offers fishing and there are waterfalls within a short hike just across the street from the cabin in the national forest. Packwood has a golf driving range and a golf course just down the road. Light an outdoor fire at the cabin, when there's no burn ban, to enjoy some hotdogs or s'mores.

About The Owner

Owners Bruce and Linda LaVergne have enjoyed spending summers at the cabin with their children and grandchildren in the pool, playground, fishing, and hiking, and winters on the slopes at White Pass. Now that our children are grown and we are not using the cabin as often as before, we'd like to share it with you!

The Owner purchased this cabin in 1996
Why The Owner chose Packwood

We purchased the cabin in Packwood after we began to ski regularly at White Pass Ski Resort, only a 20 minute drive away. The number of elk and deer seen, as well as the amenities which were part of the Timberline Community Association, also attracted our interest in the property.

What makes this cabin unique

We own two lots, so there is enough area outdoors for a seasonal marshmallow roast or for kids to explore the plants, rocks, leaves, and wildlife. The state's largest outdoor market on Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends still has our daughter looking to buy a porcelain doll each year. Although there are other cabins nearby, it is so quiet there that sleeping in isn't a problem! It's a great spot to relax.

Located just off Hwy 12, it is easy to find.

With the Gifford National Forest located across our cul-de-sac, there are many trails to hike, waterfalls to see, and streams to fish.

The local coffee shop has free wifi as well as friendly talk and great coffee.

We had a good time at this mountain cabin. The location is secluded with lots of trees, very quiet and peaceful, but not much of a view. The property was larger than the photos suggested. Everything was there and in good working order and the property was clean. Our kids enjoyed the community pool. Restaurant options in Packwood are limited, we could find only 2. Menus are basic. Proximity to Rainier National Park was very handy.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights and did not want to leave. We loved that it had an older and more rustic feeling and it was very private. The cabin has a great view off the back deck that we enjoyed. It was wonderful having a great hot tub and access to a washer and dryer. We are looking forward to our next stay here and will probably even bring our kids next time. We appreciated that there were movies for us or our kids, games, and a great ceiling fan thank God because it was really hot out..lol. Thanks for the wonderful and very clean cabin, we had a blast. See you in the near future!!

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed the cabin and hot tub. Next summer, you can also try the outdoor association pool or play some tennis! Fall and spring are great for local hikes and/or fishing too.
In winter, you can go sledding within walking distance of the cabin, or take a 20 min. drive to White Pass Ski Resort for skiing or snowboarding. Hope to have you back again!
