Very comfortable home, amazing site

Imagine you had a cousin, say a successful doctor, who would lend you his house on the Roaring Fork River just outside Basalt, and that he had a housekeeper who kept the place immaculately clean, and a spouse with an interest in interior design...well that will give you a good sense of what it is like to stay in this property.
More about the house: There were only two of us, so we just used one level. It it has two levels, each with its own living room area and very high end television, and other audio equipment, so it would work very well for a family as well. The furniture is high quality western casual,There is a wonderful screen porch and a deck overlooking the river. Everything (except milk) that you would need is already there. There is a coffee maker - and coffee. The refrigerator has mustard, pickle relish, etc. The bedrooms are spacious and very nicely furnished. The wireless is fine. We had one question about it at the beginning; I emailed the owner and he responded very promptly and resolved the issue completely.
More about the site: The site is amazing. The only sound you can hear - and you can hear it from every room - is the rushing river. There is a large and well kept yard, with a hot tub, badminton net and equipment, boat, etc. And our favorite (we didn't actually try the hot tub, play badminton, etc.) - you can sit on the deck at sunset with a glass of wine (nice wineglasses BTW) and watch the sun set in the river, with the Rockies as backdrop. We said to ourselves every evening...it doesn't get much better.
A couple things to be aware of. The address is El Jebel, not Basalt, but you are about 5 minutes by car from "downtown" Basalt,...we drove in most morning for coffee at the Midlands Baking Company. There is a Whole Foods and a conventional market even closer, as well as a number of restaurant. But you absolutely need a car.
The master bath has a contemporary, "no door" design, where partitions are cunningly arranged so that you have privacy without the door. It works well, but it took us a day or two to get used to it.
Second, I am pretty sure that I would recognize the owner's children on the street...there were a lot of family pictures. This is not a cooky cutter, sterile, Marriott; you are very much in someone's very nice home. We thought that was a plus, but the ambiance is different from renting a standard decoration condo in Aspen.
So yes, we would certainly go back. And next time we might even try to wade the river
