About Linda Norton

At present I live in the house and spend my time as a professional artist. Having had various careers including Equestrian in Jumping, Dressage and Saddle Seat riding and breeding National Show Horses in Connecticut. I also have worked in several Paint Deptartments and run my own business in Color Consultation and design. I spent most of my years in CT and my children still live there. I visit occassionally but am in Maine year round and maintain my art studio here.

Linda Norton purchased this apartment in 1910
Why Linda Norton chose Camden

This is a family homestead purchased by my Grandfather just before he married my Grandmother. I moved into the house in 2000 and added the apartment in 2005. Origionally from Connecticut I have spent all of my childhood summers in Camden at this house. My Children also spent summers here and my Grandchildren visit when possible. I have loved this area all my life and now record it in watercolors which I show across the country in juried art shows.

What makes this apartment unique

When I added the apartment my design was intended to enhance the exsisting house and have it blend in to the original design. The house itself has not been changed since my Grandparents lived in it and is true to its time. I considered the warmth and quiet elegance something that I wished to maintain in the house and mirror in the apartment. Giving it warmth and solitude in tune with the era of the overall property. Yet close to a multitude of interesting sites to visit and enjoy.

This cottage was a perfect place for my wife and I who like to look at Windjammers, Lighthouse, and birds. It is 500 ft from a town park where you can sit and watch boats entering and leaving the Camden harbor. If you like to walk, you can hike a short distance further down the street in one direction to view a beautiful lighthouse or you can walk a short distance in the other direction into town where you will find many good restaurants and the harbor dock where you can look at sailboats. You will find friendly people no matter the direction. As our host stated, I don’t think there is a bad restaurant in the area. With the amenities of this nice cottage, you can take leftovers home for lunch or prepare any meal you choose since a full kitchen is available. It would be difficult to find something not to like about this place.
