A wonderfull relaxing week at the beach

Review Submitted: July 1, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
I was very pleased with our stay in this rental. You walk out of the back door into a back yard that has a oak canopy filled with beautiful spanish moss. Just beyond that is the most peaceful family friendly beach we have ever visited. The Island is so peaceful and enriched with history and character. Rick went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed and to make sure we were pleased with our stay. The kitchen table did only seat 4 but that was great. We sat the kids in the kitchen and the adults sat in the sun room and enjoyed our meals looking out at the beautiful setting. All the resturants we tried were great. You can get most anything you need on the island but the grocery store is a little high so I recomend stopping at a grocery in brunswick. The house was a little out dated but it is a vacation rental. At this price this place is an unbeatable value.
Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your kindness, and it was a pleasure haven you stay in the house! hope to see you again soon! RG

Great time - great value

Jekyll Island is a wonderful place to relax and have fun. Our girls had wild dolphins eating out of their hands at the St Andrews picnic area. We brought bicycles and were glad we did. Much to see. I particularly liked watching the sun rise over the Atlantic without lifting my head off the pillow. The beaches were very uncrowded.

We enjoyed good meals and views at Blackbeards and Seajays.
Groceries should be bought in Brunswick. The IGA on the island is very small and very expensive.

This house was a very good value. You can spend twice as much for a oceanfront vacation rental. Things were dated but we found them to be serviceable. It is semi-detached, but only one room had a shared wall and we felt we had privacy. We climbed over the rocks to the beach, but there were stairs one house away.

Our only issues were that the web listing did not say that linens were not included, but we were told that before we committed and brought our own. The other thing was that the washer or dryer left holes and black marks on our clothes.

Rick was available and accommodating. He seems to have corrected the issues raised in earlier reviews. We recommend this house and Jekyll Island to others.

Sea View Memories

Review Submitted: May 9, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
April 18-23, 2009 Thank you Rick - We only had a short stay at "Sea View" but enjoyed every minute of it. Just waking up in the morning for the beautiful sunrises and walking the beach steps from the cottage made our stay. Must sees: Jekyll Island historical district, we walked the park and it's beautiful. St. Simons Lighthouse and the area around it. If you are a bike rider the trails that take you compleatly around Jekyll Island are fantastic. And for those who are kayakers the area offers many opportunites for a great paddle.
Places to eat: The Costal Kitchen at St. Simons Marina, wonderful food and sitting out on the deck overlooking the boats adds to the meal. Spanky's on Rt.17/Glynn Ave., good food (try the Brunswick Stew) and again great view over looking the marshes. And just for fun try the Oyster Shak on Stacy St. right across from the entrance to the FJ Torras Causeway, great for lunch and if you like oysters and shrimp this is the place (be careful of the cocktail sauce it packs a wallop). Sea View Cottage was comfortable and provided us with everything we need to relax and enjoy our stay for our Daughters graduation from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. This was our first visit to Costal Georgia and we hope we have the opportunity to return.
If we could offer one recommendation that would be to repair the cottage windows so the ocean breezes can flow through the house.
Wish I could add a couple of my photos, I captured some amazing memories of the sunrises, wildlife and area. If you're into photography great shots abound.
Owner's Response: 911 mom,
Thank you so much for you kind words I hope to see you soon in the near future!

A few days of Heaven

Review Submitted: November 8, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
Rick .... Thanks so much for your hospitality. You went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. By far the most beautiful sunrises I have ever seen .... and I have seen a few <g>. A good time was had by all! The beach was fantastic! Very few people and that's just the way we like it! Your property has the most beautiful old trees with hanging moss. This was a touch of heaven on earth! Accommodations were just right for us and our dogs. They too loved the ocean and running on the beach! If I may make a suggestion .... a TV is needed in Master, as well as changing mattress in Master. A bit to soft and worn for this old back. Other than that, Perfecto! We will make this a regular spot on our vacation stops for years to come! Thank you again Rick! We can't wait to return!!! The Suwanee Crew
Owner's Response: To the Suwanee Crew,

Thank you so much, I enjoyed having the Suwanee crew and look forward to seeing you soon! RG

Our week at the beach was great. We had a wonderful time on the island and the house suited us, especially for the price. Rick, the owner was very accommodating and ready to do whatever needed to make our visit satisfactory. We'll be returning next year.
Owner's Response: Pat,

Disappointment

Review Submitted: May 27, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
What a disappointing experience!
After hours of driving and arriving at night we found-

1. This is Not a house-connected to two other units. Not a free standing house.
2. Master bedroon infested with fleas
3. Table would only seat four. We are a family of six that likes to sit at the table and have a meal together. The chairs were about to break.
4.Yard is trashy with rusty lawn furniture and old, dirty equipment.
5.Kitchen sink backed up.
6.Noisy neightbors with barking dogs.
7. Wooden spiral stairs unsafe needs repair.
8. Bathromm upstairs was in need of a good cleaning.
9. Dirty fish tank with no light and a poor sick fish inside.

Owner was informed and refunded money minus $150.00 for the fact we stayed there one night. Where were we suppose to go in the middle of the night??
Advise- a complete upgrade is needed here. Jekyll Island is in the process of upgrading facilities. Take our $150.00 and make that place better for the good of the island's reputation.
