A Little Slice of Heaven

This is an immaculately clean and well decorated family home right on Lake Michigan. The views are spectacular from both inside and outside. The beautiful beach and lengthy dock are private and very quiet, and there are natural woods on three sides of the property. If you love both nature and comfort, you will love this home. There is an abundance of wild life including eagles, owls, loons, ducks, deer and even an occasional visiting but timid and shy fox that can all be glimpsed from both inside and outside. I love the rock fireplace in the living room, the views from the large picture windows on three sides of the home, and the very large deck from which to enjoy the abundant hummingbirds, the woods, the lake and the spectacular sunsets. Sunsets and star gazing from the built in seating area at the end of the lengthy dock are unencumbered and truly amazing.
This home has all the amenities anyone could want and is in excellent condition. The owners live in a nearby community and give their "home away from home" constant loving care. They are easy to reach and extremely pleasant to deal with. Just a long walk away is the famous Legg's Inn which has wonderful food and a totally unique decor. There are also art galleries and artist's studios nearby. The air and water are pure and refreshing, and the stars at night are unbelievable. This is the best of both worlds. It is totally quiet and private, but within easy driving distance to Harbor Springs and plenty of shopping, restaurants and night life. My family and I look forward every year to our annual visit, which always seems too short. Once we are there we don't want to leave. Like I said, this is a little slice of heaven and we cherish our time there.

I have had the good fortune to visit this cottage many times over the last few years. The sunsets sitting on the dock are truly breathtaking. The beach is wonderful for walking and the cottage is very comfortable and cozy and has all the amenities of home. The deck is perfect to sit and have a few pops and dinner while looking out over lovely Lake Michigan. Cross Village, the small village near by, is fun to visit with a unique bar/restaurant with wonderful polish food and there is a wonderful art gallery that offers not only lovely things to purchase but also has some unique craft/art classes. There is no place lovelier than northern Michigan in the summer. There are many nearby small towns that have wonderful art fairs throughout the summer as well as fun small town activities such as local parades on the fourth of July. A truly great experience for a family summer vacation.

Favorite Summer Vacation Spot

This is my familys favorite summer vacation spot. We have rented for a number of years and wouldn't think of not returning each summer. The house is always clean, well-maintained and well-equipped. It is also a very private setting. My boys, ages 9 and 6, absolutely love the beach and the fact that it is just a few yards from the porch. Lake Michigan in this bay has a very gentle drop-off so they can swim and play all they want.
We actually leave the lakes area of Minnesota to visit each year and are very glad the owners rent this lake house- truely a great vacation spot.

Stunning, Quiet Lakeshore Retreat

We have rented this property for 5 years now. The view and quiet beachfront are our favorite things. It's fun to watch for the freighters by day and count the lighthouses each night. And watching the stars by the beach campfire cannot be beat. Some people have been lucky enough to actually see the Northern Lights! Bring your water shoes for long beachfront walks every morning. It's always been very private and quiet but anyone you happen to run into has been friendly.
Our family does not often eat out, so we appreciate the well-stocked kitchen, gas grill and dishwasher. We also pack very light and take advantage of the washer and dryer. The place has always been clean, as well.
There are plenty of things to do and see in the area. We buy pies in Good Hart, making the drive down the "tunnel of trees." My husband loves to mountain bike, so he goes daily to the nearby North Country Trail. Just down the road is the beautiful beach of Sturgeon Bay with the dunes to climb. And don't forget a trip to Mackinaw Island, only 30 minutes away!
Bring snorkels to check out the rocks, a floatie is a good idea as well. The beach is sandy, but once you get in the water it is rocky. A kayak would be really fun, as well. We always bring home a couple of rocks for souveniers. If the weather is not cooperative, there are games to play and movies to watch as well as satellite(cable?) TV.
We sleep in every day until 9:00--it's so quit!
Whether you prefer quiet lakefront reading or outdoor adventures or the typical "tourist" vacation, I am confident you will enjoy your stay.

My family of 3 has stayed here for 2 consecutive years, a week each time. It is adorable, clean, comfortable and well equipped for cooking/eating in. I love the view from the kitchen/eat-in breakfast bar. The whole house is designed around beautiful lake views and is filled with details that give it a true North Country feel. The views from the dock, especially sun set and the STARS after all light has disappeared are unparalleled. We look forward to our vacation here every year. Great communication from the owners and a fair price.

A slice of Paradise

My stay in Cross Village was the most relaxing week I've ever spent....beach walks, walks in the woods, million dollar sunsets either on the deck or the dock, seeing wildlife, lunches and dinners outside at Historical Landmark Legs Inn or on the deck at the cottage, and even a touch of the 'arts' visiting Three Pines Studio.
I'll be counting the days until I can get back to Chippewa Dr.....time and money very well spent. It's only 20 minutes from Harbor Springs, and 35 minutes from Petoskey, yet you're in another world...so peaceful and relaxing...like no other place in the world!!!!!

If you want a perfect getaway with private beach and dock and amazing views of Lake Michigan, this is the place for you. This is a quiet retreat with complete feelings of solitude. This is a good place for beach activities, walking and hiking, bird watching or just relaxing and viewing the lake from the beautiful deck. You can walk to the town of Cross Village {stop at leg's Inn} or take a short drive to Harbor Springs. This cottage is immaculate and well maintained. The owners communicated well and we felt that all our needs would be met before we even arrived.

WHAT A PLACE! JUST SPENT 10 DAYS IN PARADISE...

Our family had our best vacation ever at this fabulous hidden treasure of a cottage. The sunsets over Lake Michigan were better than the Pacific so we spent almost every evening, as a family, on the unique private dock, followed by a huge warm fire on the beach. Doesn't get any better than this. The cottage itself is up to date, very clean and comfortable. Has a real rustic feel.
