Late Summer Vacation

chase wisconsin
Review Submitted: December 22, 2007 Date of Stay: August 2007
We rented Bay Haven sight unseen and were wonderfully surprised to find out how lucky we were to have found it! It was the perfect late summer vacation -- the weather was idyllic, the view of the lake was spectacular and the cottage itself was so welcoming. I can't think of anything that one would want by way of comfort that was lacking in the cottage.
The surroundings reminded me of summer vacations my family took when I was a child and I was so happy to share this similar experience with my sons. I would certainly return -- would love to see the area in the fall. Have recommended it to several friends.

My family and I stayed at the cottage in June 2006 and had a wonderful time. The weather was cool but such a nice escape from the sticky heat and humidity we left behind. We spent time playing croquet and some swimming when it wasn't too cold. I was amazed how far we were able to walk out into the water without it becoming too deep. The cottage is very nice and roomy, and I very much appreciated the many amenities that it offered. Thank you for a very relaxing and enjoyable time with my family.

Bay Haven is a true retreat. We were forced to do nothing else but relax. There was such a variety of artwork and treasures throughout the house that we discovered something new each day. The house is just close enough to Menominee and Marinette to enjoy the shops, restaurants, and weekend activities. We had the fortune of staying during a full moon. When the sun goes down the only thing you can see are the stars and the moon, no other hints of cizilization unless we stepped out onto the highway. The only modern luxury I missed was a good showerhead in the bathroom. Each person has one creature comfort that they wish they could take with them when they travel.
Enjoy!!

We hadn't visited Michigan before and much to our delight it was wonderful. The house was great! We really enjoyed being able to have a huge yard to play and relax. The house is full of stories and artifacts. There was six of us including 2 kids and there was plenty of room. Everything you could possibly need is supplied. The only downfalls we encountered was the "beach" area and traffic noise. "Beach" area was overgrown while we were there (10 days) and 'fixed' the evening before we left
and house sits close to highway so you hear a lot of truck traffic whizzing by.
But, A LOT more pluses than those two things. My family overly enjoyed our stay and would reccomend Bay Haven to everybody!

Just left this morning: Our take on this rental: If you like restored houses, wood, dark Adirondack style porches the downstairs is for you. If you like newer drywall, lots of light and airy space the upstairs is for you—you get them both when you rent Bay Haven. PLUSES: Very private with lots of frontage on the lake; great place for relaxing; lots of beds; wonderful views; low-key list of “rules”; no smoke if you are allergic. MINUSES: Waterfront too shallow for launching a boat; climbing the tiny spiral staircase to watch TV is irritating; out buildings not clean yet (May 31); mold count and feathers count moderate (the dehumidifiers keep the spores under control though); no microwave. In general a nice getaway spot. –Keith & Sharon Drury June 1, 2005
Owner's Response: We really appreciate feedback from our guests! Whenever it's possible to follow their suggestions for improvements... we DO it. We have added a TV for the downstairs and a microwave. There is a public boat launch 2 miles from Bay Haven. Thanks, Keith, for your comments.

As I plan our summer vacation for this coming summer I am remembering fondly our vacation last year. This place far exceeded our expectations. Its charm, warmth and relatively remote local lended to the relaxing atmosphere. The eclectic interior of the home was a little like an unpretensious museum. Everywhere you look there is something interesting that you hadn't noticed before. I look forward to a day when we might be able to return.
