Great Vacation!

What a wonderful getaway with all the nature you can handle! TONS of room for our party and guests. Comfortable beds, open and spacious floor plan, and absolutely loved the hot tub and it's vew! The house was spotless upon arrival and the owners were awesome to work with, they were even flexible enough to let us extend our stay! It is located at the very top of the mountain, so the road up there takes a while, but is so worth it! I would much rather have a longer road for a better view! My favorite part was the deer and the little chipmonks playing outback every morning! I would reccommend this place to anyone! LOVED IT!

Beautiful Home and Scenery

We were there for the 2011 Sturgis Bike Rally and were on motorcycles, although I had been advised about the road leading to the home (gravel/switchbacks) it was not as bad as I thought it would be. And once we reached the home, it was more than worth traveling that road!!
The house is very spacious, beautiful, peaceful and well lit with natural lighting. It is an open floor plan with extremely high ceilings and lighting. It provides a great view from the top deck, the lower deck or any of the multiple windows you want to look out! The house is well kept and was clean upon our arrival. We loved the inside of the house as much as the view!
It was more than big enough for our party of 8 (but only 4 of us made it there). I would recommend this home to ANYONE and EVERYONE!!

Great cabin in the woods

We just returned from a stay at Snowy Bluff. There were 11 in our group (3 families). We especially enjoyed the hot tub and pool table. There were plenty of dishes/pans etc as we cooked in several nights. The cabin was up a narrow twisty road which just added to the adventure. We visited the usual tourist places but also the waterpark in Spearfish, kids really enjoyed this.
We would highly recommend Snowy Bluff for a peaceful getaway vacation.

Great place to stay!

This review is a little overdue! We stayed at Snowy Bluff in September 2009. It was our first visit out to Deadwood/Black Hills and we wanted to stay somewhere off the beaten path, private and scenic. This cabin was perfect! We stayed with another couple, and the home was more than enough space for the 4 of us...it had a huge loft space that we didn't even use so it would be perfect for large families. There are great pictures on the Snowy Bluff website, so when we arrived everything was as described. The cabin was clean, the hot tub was fantastic (we were in it twice a day!) and it was the highlight of our visit to South Dakota. There were little touches, like books on local history & travel, that enhanced our experience. I really enjoyed sitting on the deck each morning with a cup of coffee, just listening to the sounds of nature. The cabin really felt secluded despite a few other homes nearby. The drive up the mountain felt like an adventure, and we were glad to have 4-wheel drive. I would definitely recommend staying here, and would stay again. Thank you so much!

Good and Bad

Many positives to this property. Jim was very easy to deal with, the views spectacular, and a lot was as advertised.

The negatives are that the sattelite hardly ever worked, the stove is inoperative, the heater/stove downstairs was inoperative, several bulbs were burned out, and we didn't find the ping pong table advertised. We rewashed all the dishes and pots and pans prior to using them for the first time as there were mouse droppings in some of the cabinets.

Overall the price was fair, and we were pleased but the comment book in the cabin addressed many of these issues, and it seems they've gone on for some time. With as much competition as there is for rental properties it wouldn't take too much to sway a more favorable review. Also, definitely heed their advice in renting/bringing a four-wheel drive as ours came in very useful as there is virtually no way to make it up the mountain when it snows without one.

Owner's Response: I sincerely apologize for any inconvienence and will do my best to address these issues directly.

Stove: Somehow the breaker got turned off in the breaker box, not sure why- but it works normal when switched on.

Sattelite tv: It appears that our trees have grown taller and the reception is now poor whenever the wind blows the trees. We are intending to re-locate our dish as soon as possible, in order to cure this problem.

Ping-Pong: Unfortunately, a prior guest damaged the table beyond repair and it has not been replaced yet.

I would have gladly offered immediate suggestions or assitance to address these issues. However, I was not contacted or made aware until afterward.

We always strive to make our guests stay as enjoyable as possible.

Thank you for this opportunity to respond! Jim

Key Word: Relax

Great views and wildlife make this a true retreat. The hot tub was great to relax in after a day of sightseeing. Plenty of room for the 6 adults and 4 kids we had. It was great to be able to stay in and eat, rather than have to gather everybody up for a trip to a restaurant. We were happy that the furnishings were kid-friendly. Our kids really enjoyed nature walks and playing games at the cabin. We plan to return in the future.

3 Couples and a few drop by visitors stayed at the beautiful cabin in the Black Hills of South Dakota!!!! It was wonderful. Had everything you need for a relaxing vacation, just bring food and drinks and your set!!! Views are beautiful, quiet atmosphere, trails for ATV/Motorcycles, hot tub, pool table, foosball, and satellite TV!!! What more could you ask for in a cabin in the Hills??? I will definately stay again and highly recommend this house!
