House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6-16)

This is our lake house getaway for our family. There is a panoramic view of beautiful Mayfield Lake. There is a wrap-around deck on the upper level on three sides. We have furnished the 3090 square foot house to accommodate our ever-enlarging family. We have a garage with a 2-bedroom loft apartment next door (see listing 307616). Both the house and garage apartment are currently vacation properties and our future place for retirement. Between the two buildings, there are accommodations for 20+ people.

The house has 1 king bed, 2 queen beds, 6 twin beds and 2 queen-size sleeper sofas. We fit a memory foam pad to the the sofa mattresses to make them quite comfortable. The kitchen is set up to allow you to cook your meals or there are several restaurants within short driving distances.

The real opportunity of this location and setup is that this is a great place to stay and relax or be as active as you want to be. Mayfield Lake was formed when a dam was built on the Cowlitz River. Mayfield Lake offers boating, water sports, fishing (8 varieties), hunting, and Ike Kinswa State Park for swimming and other children's activities. There is sport fishing on the Cowlitz (salmon and steelhead in season), hiking in the hills and mountains, skiing/boarding at White Pass winters, and sightseeing in the Cascade Range.

A drive to Randle, WA puts you nestled in the middle of Mt. Rainier, Mt. Adams, and Mt. St. Helens. The natural beauty of the area still puts me in awe after years of enjoyment. There are restaurants, horseback riding, and other services in the small towns around the area with the type of folks that are warm and welcoming.

Check-in time is at 4:00 p.m. or later.

Check-out time is 12:00 noon or earlier.

Neighborhood Considerations: Quiet hours are between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. every day of the week. The property is in a quiet neighborhood and that must be maintained during the quiet hours.

About The Owner

Lynda and Darrel Libby own two properties side-by-side. We have worked to make this our future retirement home. We live in Vancouver, WA currently, and spend every other weekend at Mayfield Lake. We just finished building the garage/apartment next to the house for our future needs. Retirement is a few years away, so we want to rent out the house and apartment when we are not using it.

Why The Owner chose Mayfield Lake

I like to fish, hike, hunt, and enjoy watching the sun rise over the lake and reflect a warm welcome to a new day. This vacation spot is 75 minutes driving time from our home in Vancouver and just under 2 hours from downtown Seattle. We have kids in both locations, so this was hopefully thinking ahead towards visiting the grandkids. It is in a quiet neighborhood set away from cities. There is a small stop on the way called Salkum, which has the basic groceries. Mossyrock is 12 minutes away with a few more shops. Chehalis and Centralia have a good variety of shops and indoor activities.

What makes this house unique

Relaxation for those needing to get away. If you are more active, then the variety of outdoor activities will keep your interest. The VRBO rental is a great way to vacation at a destination location without breaking the bank.

The house is as advertised. Clean, Neat, Everything Advertised. Plenty of space for our group of 5 guys to sleep comfortably. The Kitchen is stocked with all the items a kitchen should have. One thing I would change is to take out some of the food items in the fridge and freezer. There was left over ice cream in the freezer and misc stuff left in the door of the fridge(not enough room for all of our stuff for our four day stay).
One thing I would add are Pictures/Paintings on the walls. It takes away from the home feeling with empty walls.
Great view from the deck while cooking on the grill and enjoying the surrounding mountains and Mayfield Lake.
The owners were very helpful with details and getting us set up from the beginning. The power was out prior to us arriving and the neighbors had lanterns and flashlights ready to go.
We fished the Cowlitz River for Steelhead and had a great time. We lucked out on the weather and caught some great looking fish.

I would recommend this place to others.

Owner's Response: We sure appreciate your comments and are always looking for ways to improve the rental experience for all our guests. I had just been thinking that we needed more artwork for some of the walls. And we will remove some of the less necessary condiments from the refrigerator. I like to leave the basics like ketchup, mustard, mayo and some salad dressings, though. We hope to have your group of fishermen back again next year.

The house is beautiful! The veiw of the lake is just as beautiful. Shooting stars off the deck at night, the milky way, and twinkling stars just added to the joy of our stay! We have nothing but good to say about our stay! Everything they presented is there and more.

This is a wonderful house, and we enjoyed our vacation there. This house is very clean and space enough for us - a few families with young kids, and has many things o enjoy - board games, pingpong table, and a huge collection of movies. Also, the house is close to the mountain area for short hikes. We had a great time there and want to visit there again.

Extended Family Weekend

Wow - we've rented many VRBO homes but never one as well-equipped as this one! Everything is there - from every spice you could imagine to locally caught trout for you in the freezer! The house is clean and spacious with two living rooms. There are actually four and one-half bedrooms (one huge room with five single beds which can't be called a bedroom because no closet). The owners were very helpful and there are neighbors familiar with the house who are also helpful. We really enjoyed our time in this Mayfield Lake View Home!

Thank you to the Libby's for sharing their beautiful home with us! We had a group from 3 yrs to 90 yrs old, and each one of us loved the house. The house itself was extremely well stocked, and large enough to be together as a group, or be alone if desired. It has a beautiful view, and is quiet and relaxing. The owners were friendly and very helpful when I had questions before renting the house. Thanks again!
