Solitude House Rental Photos and Description
4BR/3Full + three full and twio ½ Bath Home with Gourmet Chef's Kitchen

This gorgeous home was custom built in the early 90's & features hand peeled log columns, antique oriental rugs, stone floors, slate in the bathrooms, & a feeling of home. The owner was a private chef and so the kitchen is fabulous and has every thing you could possibly need to prepare a wonderful dinner. Bon Apetite magazine even did a story at this home! The main floor has a mud room as you enter for all your ski gear. You step up to the cozy living room & walk through to the dining room & onto the chef's kitchen. This is next to the family room where the huge collection of music lives. Upstairs there are 4 bedrooms. The master w/ a king bed & it's own private bathroom & walk in closet. The view from the tub is of the slopes at Solitude and is the same from the bed. 3 more bedrooms, another master which is larger than the first but w/a smaller bathroom & 2 full beds, one w/ a full bed & a twin bed & the other has 2 twin beds w/ pop up trundles that can come up from underneath. The house is very flexible and will work for all kinds of groups. So please call and describe your group and we'll let you know how and if it will work well for you. It's a wonderful house for those not sure how many of their group are actually coming.

Ask about discount lift tickets to the Cottonwood Canyons!

Free grocery pick up and stocking for you to get you to the slopes faster.

I was single and a private chef when I purchased this home. It took me four years to renovate. No bedroom sits next to another bedroom so it's a quiet house and very well designed and very flexible.

Sarah Langridge purchased this house in 1991

Great location with easy access next to the main canyon road, but has wonderful views out the back as well. I had lived in Alta and Snowbird for ten years and so this was close by.

You can ski home on a powder day to the house if you are up for some adventure through the neighborhood.

Very flexible sleeping arrangements are available,

We stayed in this beautiful house for 5 days, I wish we'd had longer. We spent a month skiing in Utah this March and during our vacation we stayed at Sandy, Sundance, Snowbird and this house at Solitude.

It was unanimous that this was our favourite, not just because of the location but the house itself has a really good feel. The kitchen is fully equipped with all that you're ever need (it even has a teapot which is a rarity in America)

There is a formal dining room, two family rooms each with wood burning fireplaces and a lovely sunny patio at the side of the house, perfect for sunset margaritas.

The views of the Aspens from the kitchen and lounge/family room at the back of the house are stunning, it's a perfect place for entertaining friends, which we did during our stay.

There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms, (the main bedroom has an on-suite with a deep bath that you can sit in and soak up the amazing views)

The house can be rented in it's entirety for a larger group or as a smaller house and studio. The studio which is quite spacious would be perfect for a couple as it has a small kitchen, good size bathroom etc.

There's also a double garage which is available for parking.

In terms of location it's right down the road from Solitude and Brighton ski resorts. We have skied most resorts in Utah and in our opinion these are by far the best resorts as they get good snow cover and are less crowded than some of the other resorts.

If you don't feel like cooking there's a great little restaurant at Silverfork Lodge which as about a 5 minute walk.

All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this house and would recommend it to anyone.

Owner's Response: Thank you Deb for the great review! I hoe that tea cozy I had for the teapot made all the difference to your cup of tea :)
Hope to see you all again.

Great location. We completely dressed the kids, ski boots included, loaded them into the car, and about 90 seconds later were parked next to the lift. Very nice house, and if you like to cook, you will really appreciate the kitchen. Best owner experience we've had with VBRO. Sarah is wonderful!

We stayed at this property Thanksgiving weekend, 2011. It's a very short drive from Solitude and Brighton resorts. The house is amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home decor is beautiful and comfy. There is plenty of room to spread out. Kids watched movies in a family room while adults hung out in the upper family room area or kitchen. The house was well stocked with linnens, towels and blankets. The kitchen was also very well stocked. The owner was easy to communicate with and accommodating. So many nice surprises like heated matress pads on the beds and lovely fireplaces to warm up next to after a cold day skiing.

This home has everything we could have wanted to make our family ski vacation wonderful. It is beautifully decorated with lots of spots for people to gather or to get away with a book. The kitchen is fully stocked for serious cooks, and it is so close to Solitude and Brighton that it is easy to run back down if one has forgotten something. Also not a bad drive to Little Cottonwood (Alta & Snowbird) and even to Park City. I highly recommend this home! We even had another family stay with us and there was still plenty of room. (That was a total of 4 adults and 8 children!)

Mitchel family return for 5th straight year

The Mitchell's spend about 3 weeks a year or more at the house. We even had ski racks built for them. They leave all their ski gear each time so they can travel back and forth like it's their second home! Their children have made friends with the neighbor kids and every one feels like they have returned home. It's great:)
