Located on Ono Island--an exclusive, gated community--you will find this yellow stucco Florida-style home as easy as it is lovely. It is 3,500+ square feet with plenty of space for 10 people. Enter from the paved driveway and go up the stairs, past the Adirondack chairs on the back porch to see huge picture windows featuring St. John’s bayou (and the intercoastal waterway) with all its flora and fauna. Entryway has the kitchen to the right and a coat closet and laundry room just to your left to keep you organized. The kitchen is fully equipped with an open-air layout to make cooking fun. The dining room table seats 6 or 8 people under a glass chandelier. There is also bar seating for 4 at the kitchen island to squeeze in a few extra guests, a wet bar to keep adults entertained, and ceiling fans to provide a gentle breeze. The main living room has floor-to-ceiling windows, a lovely fireplace, and lets in perfectly-pink light during sunsets. Go ahead, step on out to the front porch and smell that salty sea air.
Upstairs, there is a Nantucket-style bedroom with hand-painted clouds on the ceiling, a queen bed, well-loved furniture collected from near and far, and a private bath. Across the living room is the “Flamingo” bedroom, which features an adorable (private) pink bathroom, fun artwork, and a queen bed on white, fluffy carpet.
The Master Bedroom is a veritable sanctuary with a four-poster king bed, elegant furnishings, a walk-in closet, a jetted bathtub, separate shower, and a private sitting room with a knock-out view. A windowed door goes out to the common balcony from this room.
Downstairs, you will find a huge couch, a big TV, a “fridge nook” with microwave and sink. In the back, there is one bedroom with a queen bed and its own bath; the other bedroom also has its own bath and features two closets. One queen with a twin bunk up top lets you pack in the kids…or three adventuresome adults. A tiled floor down here means easy clean up.
Please note that all bedrooms have TV and their own private bathroom.
Now that you’ve seen the sleeping accommodations, forget about them. You are guaranteed to spend 100% of your waking hours outside. You won’t be able to resist the large pool with a deep end, entry steps, and surrounding fenced deck. Lots of chairs/chaises are available for sunbathers.
After your swim, go on down the long pier that arches over the marsh. Drop in the kayak at the “swim deck” and go for a paddle. Then beat the heat at the end of the pier under the covered boathouse. Take a nap in the hammock as the sea breeze rocks you to sleep. Plop down in the custom-made benches to watch glorious sail boats and power yachts cruise before catching the breath-taking sunset.
Catching fish? The lights under the decking sure bring them up and the boathouse sink makes fish-cleaning easy. Talk about fresh fish. Local porpoises also know where the good fishing is and will probably be spotted by a member of your crew.
Come back up the pier, flick on the pool lights, and turn on some tunes. Throw together some sides to complement your fresh catch--your outdoor barbeque party is about to start.
To work off your food and beverage indulgences, biking/walking trails pervade the island. The island’s public tennis courts and children’s playground are within easy walking distance, as is the island's boat ramp. For serious fitness buffs, there is an exercise club on the island that has an indoor and an outdoor swimming pool, private tennis and basketball courts, and a formal gym with cardio machines, weight machines, and free weights. See the schedule for offered exercise classes, such as yoga. Access to Ono North Recreational Center can usually be arranged for $50/week. For maximum convenience, contact us for airport-to-island transportation and stocking your fridge. With advance notice, we can connect you with an experienced sea captain who will pick you up from the pier for a private fishing charter.

We live in Kentucky and our children live in South Carolina.
We are a busy family and do not get to use the house as much as we would like. We find everyone loves it when they visit here so we opened it up to guests at VRBO. Our
