We stayed here for 3 days and was very nice. Kate the owner was excellent, accommodating to all our needs. Even bought a new barbecue for us. Nice area and will come back if in the area.

Loved staying at this romantic cabin. It is even larger than the photos show. It is an excellent location to enjoy the tranquility of the Kentucky river, yet a quick drive to excellent restaurants and sightseeing destinations.

Kate was a pleasure and she made sure everything went smoothly for our stay. Would definitely stay again.

Adorable Little Cabin

I just love this little cabin. It is charming and immaculately clean and the accommodations were just perfect! Nice chocolate! It is just like the pictures show it. There are some stairs up the hill to get in, but not too hard to negotiate.

It is located in the country on a hillside above the KY River in an area where people seem to come to boat and fish. Not being a boater, I didn't explore that possibility. I just relaxed! It is an excellent place to decompress.

I was able to cook some of my own food, but if you explore a bit, there is a great fish place called Halls on down the road. Excellent fried fish and banana peppers! And the beer cheese is great too!

This is so much nicer and less expensive than staying in a generic hotel. And much more relaxing. I would come here again and bring friends! I am thinking it would be a lovely romantic get-away place. Kate is a Brit--love the accent--and she is charming and easy to get along with. Next time I am in need of peaceful down time, I will be back!

Cosy and relaxing cabin

This warm and friendly cabin is perfect for relaxing. Close to the city, yet distanced in feel and atmosphere. Clean and charmingly decorated, the furnishings are comfortable - the beds are wonderful - especially the heated mattress pads! This is the perfect place to get away, and still be close enough to the city for activities, or to go to local paarks, etc. to walk. The owner provided great customer service, and there is a local neighbor with a key for any immediate problems. We'll probably rent it again next year!

What a delight! We could not have been more pleased with our weekend stay. From the personal note greeting us, to the nice smell of the cabin, to the decor to the cabin, to the location, and to the beauty....we LOVED it. It is so close to so many attractions that is it such an affordable option for a weekend getaway. We can't wait to come back and use again. We truely felt at home. Thank you, Kate for sharing it with us!

Relaxing Weekend

We found this cabin to be exactly what we were seeking. The size was perfect for us to have plenty of room yet was cozy and "warm". We especially liked the upstairs living room which was perfect for relaxing and listening to music and sharing in great conversation.

The surroundings were quiet and peaceful and, despite being very convenient to the interstate, there was no traffic noise whatsoever.

There was even an opportunity to meet a couple of neighbors and even they were polite and helpful. The surroundings felt safe and welcoming.

The property owner was helpful and took extra time to make sure the accommodations were as requested.

I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a nice quiet weekend (or longer) away from the rush of life but still wants to be close enough to convenience (dining, stores, etc.).

I'm certain we will use this location again. We have absolutely no complaints. Thank you.

Coffee on the Patio

My wife and I recently spent a week at this wonderful cabin and can't say enough about how much we enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the location. Our favourite thing to do was to take our coffee first thing in the morning and sit in the chairs on the patio and listen to the birds and watch the mist rise from the river. Truly a restorative place to spend time. Thanks again.

Squalor Holler

This house is GROSSLY misrepresented; both in the listing description and in specific questions put to the owner.

We specifically asked if you see or hear the river and if you could hear the interstate. We were told that you can see and hear the river, which you do not and what you do hear is interstate. There is no public access to the river as all access is marked, "Private No Trespassing".

We stated that it was imperative that we have high speed internet access and was assured that the cabin had it. THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO INTERNET ACCESS TO THE HOUSE. During the third week of the rental the owner asked us to take time out of our busy schedule to meet with the internet installer.

The amenity listing states TV, but it is not connected to a service and the screen on my laptop is bigger. We missed the Olympics because we thought any house in the US with TV would have access to a network.

The house was dirty with cobwebs, spiders, termite debris and sow bugs and the kitchen equipment and dishes had to be washed prior to use. The ice cube trays were encrusted in frost that let no room for the meat we purchased.

I received numerous insect bites during the night. Having arrived from the Caribbean, I know what a mosquito bite is like and these itched more and lasted for weeks.

Vines are growing through the walls and in and around electrical outlets, which I perceive as a fire hazard and I did not see a fire extinguisher.

The mattresses are worn out along with all the chairs in the house. There is no place to hang clothes and the drawers are filled with the owner’s things which also cover useful space on the dresser and in the bath. The shower is so small that the average person can’t bend the slightest inside it.

We could not bring ourselves to stay for the entire rental time.
Owner's Response: The spirit and intention of this review are quite obvious.

I stand by my listing, the amenities stated and the photographs taken in Summer 2008.

I encourage travellers to read the other reviews for a more balanced and honest appreciation of what the property has to offer.

Great Location

The last two years my daughters and I have come up to Lexington in the summer for the Pony Trials at the Kentucky Horse Park. We have stayed both times at this adorable little cabin which is like home from home for us. The girls love the loft bedroom! For me the proximity to Interstate 75 has made it convenient to get to the Horse Park quickly and easily with no traffic hold ups. That has been an important plus to the location which at the same time is a great get-away at the end of the day. We have the best of both world when we stay here. Love the place!

Very Clean

Goodness, I just pulled this property up to check availability and read the "very dirty" posting and feel obligated to dispute their statements. I've stayed in this immaculately clean property a number of times and just can't say enough about the pictures being true to the cabin. The place is spotless, clean, smells wonderful and fresh and offers the perfect atmosphere for any traveler and for short or long visits. Once you've visited you will definitely want to return.
