We stayed here in 2004 and loved every minute. If you are a bird watcher, this is such an awesome place to see lots of great birds - especially ones particular to the higher elevations. Toucans and parrots fly right over the house! A hike through the nearby (walking distance) rain forest will certainly provide you with some new "life" birds. Any nature lover will totally dig this place.

We really enjoyed our stay in this house in rural Costa Rica. The house itself is very comfortable, quiet, and relaxing. The caretakers are very helpful. We really got a sense of the daily rhythms of life in this part of the country. The surroundings are beautiful, with a great view of the rainforest from the balcony. The area around La Fortuna and Arenal has a lot to offer, and many opportunities and adventures are within a short drive. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to get off the beaten track!

We had a great time at Casa Miramontana on our first trip to Costa Rica. We could not have found a better place to be close to all the activities in the Arenal area. The natural beauty is breath-taking and being right next to the Chachagua Rainforest Hotel is definitely a plus (we enjoyed the pool!). Everytime we drove through the gates, we were reminded of Jurassic Park.

We stayed here for a month. The house is wonderful. The owner has provided everything you need for your family. The views are incredible. You can sit on the deck and see all kinds of birds. Also great are the people you will meet. The owner has made friendships with some wonderful Ticos who will make you feel very welcome. My recommendation is that you rent a car because the only place you can walk to is the beautiful hotel, but you will need groceries!

Ryan's home is a gem! My fellow travelers and I were in need of some peace and quiet, and this was absolutely perfect. Beautiful views, lots of wildlife, space to roam (I loved the hiking near the house), hammock-sitting, and friendly, helpful folks nearby. The house is beautiful, well-maintained, super clean...we felt right at home. And the shower is amazing!!

We ventured into La Fortuna via walking, taxi-ing, and hitchhiking, and we wished we had listened to Ryan when he advised us to rent a car. We went on a guided trip to Volcano Arenal and Baldy Hot Springs. The hot springs felt a little like Disney World after our "off-the-beaten path" couple of weeks in the country, but we enjoyed ourselves still.

Ryan was super helpful from the very beginning of our trip planning. His customer service is impeccable. And his passion for Costa Rica is contagious; he inspired us throughout all of the trip-planning, and his recommendations can be totally trusted.

I can't wait to go back.

The house is so beautiful and peaceful. waking up to the sights and sounds of the birds surrounding the porch is unbelievable. The house if a quiet retreat overlooking miles and miles of rain forest with tons of hiking trails. We had an amazing time relaxing on hammocks on the porch, cooking delicious meals, and simply watching the wildlife. This is truly a special little slice of the earth.

I LOVED our stay at this beautiful house. It's a peaceful sanctuary for the mind, body and soul. It's very quiet and private. The house was very clean and had all the necessary amenities for our comfort. I still think about the shower in this house...the way it's designed makes you feel like you are out in nature, while still being totally private. The birding is amazing! We would wake up to a variety of birds eating from the papaya we left for them on the railing of the porch. The gardens, ponds, views surrounding the house are unbeatable. It was great to be so close to La Fortuna. We linked up with a cab driver that would come meet us at the house and take us into La Fortuna. We took many trips to the surrounding areas: volcano, waterfalls, rivers, lakes etc. We didn't go one place that I didn't love! It was so nice after a long day to retreat back to our sanctuary and relax. We spent time reading/talking while hanging out in the two hammocks on the porch and enjoying the calm surroundings. I would recommend this place to anyone I know and I hope to make it back there someday! The owner is very honest and kind. We had a wonderful experience with him while planning our trip. This is the place to be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tropical Paradise and bird heaven

I can't recommend a better place than this little sanctuary nestled in a jungle. It's paradise! You will enjoy the various tropical birds waking up with you in the morning. Families of toucans pay visit. Also, the house is perfectly located for sightseeing. Volcanos, waterfalls, canopy tours, horsebackriding, spas, great restaurants, and the animal and bird wildlife is divine! The house is well equipped and has the best blender around for making fresh fruit smoothies. What better way than to end your day in the hammock on the porch?! You will want to call this place your home.

WOW! What a place to start out at on my Costa Rican adventure. Truly an accommodating place that is perched on top of a hill with a view of paradise. Comfortable with lots of space. Great fishing in the nearby ponds, or hike the magical rain forest trails to see frogs, birds, monkeys and other numerous species of flora and fauna. Or just chill in the hammock to read a great book and watch the many birds. I can't wait to go back!
Cheers,
CJ

Thank you so much for your fantastic vacation rental. Great directions. Very clean and i love the Costa Rican style Christmas decorations that were up and the fresh tropical flowers around the house.
My favorite time was fishing for those rainbow bass in the pond below the house and bird watching from the porch with all the fresh fruit. Ahh, the fresh fruit!
Great bathroom views...the ring game...lazy hammocks...wish i was back there!

Thanks again,
