When you walk through the front door, the Ocean view is breath taking! Unobstructed ocean Views from every room in the house! Our expansive resort style home is 500 feet from the ocean, on a gentle slope, so the views are perfect, but you still have a large flat lawn and gardens. All bedrooms have balconies with an ocean view. The very large, covered lanai, off the living room, opens up through 38 ft pocket sliders, so the mahogany floors flow from inside to outside seamlessly.
Gourmet kitchen with professional viking appliances and fully equipped with everything you can think of, with an ocean view. The house is 4700 sq.ft plus 2000 sq. ft. of lanais. Three bedrooms on the main floor, with 2 full bathrooms and 1 half bath and 2 bedrooms on the ground floor, with 2 full baths and one half bath and also with a large rec room, which leads to a stained concrete lanai and large lawn. In the rec room there is a ping pong table, foos ball table, pool table and large screen tv and large seating area. Great for adults and kids. The house is perfect for families and a couples tennis, golf or dive retreat. Great training spot for the iron-man triathalon in October. We have just recently added two beautiful outdoor showers. One off of the master bedroom with a gorgeous ocean view and one in the back of the property between the two mainfloor guest rooms. Perfect for rinsing off the sand when you return from a day at the beach.
Very private, but only 5 minutes North from Mauna Kea and Hapuna Prince Resorts, with the two best beaches on the island, many restaurants, golf and tennis. Three minutes South is quaint, historic Kawaihae town. There you will find many restaurants, a fresh fish market, fruit, vegetable and flower market, dive shop and catamaran cruises. It's a 20 minute drive up to Beautiful Waimea, and 40 minutes to the airport and Kona.
The dive boat anchors in front of the house every day, it is one of the best dive spots on the Kohala Coast. many of our guests say it is the best snorkelling they have ever had. You can enter the water at the cove you see in our photos. On the 4th of July and New Years Eve you can watch the fireworks from the resorts, all the way down South to the Four Seasons' Hualalai.
There are many activities nearby such as golf, tennis, diving, sailing, fishing, zip lining, hiking, surfing and more. But, you may want to relax at the house and sip mai tais by the pool, play bocce ball on the lawn, have a sunset drink on the large lanai looking over the ocean and have a BBQ on the biggest built-in viking grill you have ever seen.
The whole house is decorated in a Hawaiian/Indonesian resort style. Many rich hardwoods and natural materials have been used. The infinity edge pool looks like it flows into the ocean, there are 8 lounge chairs on the Brazilian wood pool deck and 3 more lounge chairs on the lower lanai beside the lawn. The whole feel of the house is serene, open and expansive.
Keywords: We are located at Kohala Waterfront Development, on one acre of private, landscaped gardens 500 feet from the Ocean. Feels like waterfront. The whales come in so close they sound like they're playing in the swimming pool. You see sunsets all year round. Close to best beaches (mauna Kea and Hapuna), resort amenities, restaurants, diving, snorkeling, tennis, golf and much more. Concierge service available upon request.
My family and I are Canadian Citizens, we have lived full time on the Big Island for 9 years. Our boys graduated from Hawai Preparatory School up in beautiful Waimea and have gone back to Canada to attend University at UBC. We are now going to split our time between Vancouver, Toronto and the Big Island.
After living in the Caribbean for 5 years, we found a diamond in the rough, 'Kohala Waterfront'. We then realized that Hawaii is the closest you will ever get to 'paradise'. Kohala Waterfront is the perfect balance of privacy and yet close to all amenities. We have one acre of private gardens over looking the ocean. We get our waterfront living at a fraction of resort prices and are able to use the resort amenities. We don't have the restrictions that you have living in close quarters in a resort. We really feel we have discovered the perfect balance.
Kohala Waterfront is the best whale watching spot, since the water is deep in front of the house, the whales come in very close. They will wake you up at night, with thier talking and slapping of fins sounds like a door is slamming in the house. Laying by the pool feels like you are floating in the ocean. The diving and snorkeling out front are one of the best spots off the island. We would like other people to enjoy what we have for so many years, there no other play like Hawaii.
