If you need to get away from the hustle and bustle or the curve balls that life throws at you....this is the place, look no further. The casita was perfect. Simply Baku has a wonderful location right on the ocean. The casitas are very clean, beautifully decorated in the very colorful Mexican style .... and include lovely tropical flower arrangements throughout. We stayed in the ocean view casita and thought we were in the Garden of Eden! Mike & Marianne, the owners thought of everything to make our stay totally relaxing. If we needed something, it was there. Simply Baku is quite unique.... and is unlike the many condos and hotel rooms that are available everywhere.... Simply Baku is a real treasure! La Cruz is a small, quiet fishing village with many restaurants close by. If you want to stay in and cook, no problem.....the casita has a full, spacious kitchen and the many tiendas (small stores) in the village have all you need to make a great meal. The marina in La Cruz has a fish market daily, where the freshest seafood can be had! It is a short walk away (10-15 minutes). Also...do not miss the Sunday market in the marina...a mix of farmers market, creative artisans and food vendors. We will definitely be back! I can't say enough good things about this little gem... It exceeded our expectations from the moment we arrived. From the daily maid service to the exquisite decor and gardens to the excellent hosts, this place does not disappoint! The photos on the website don't do it justice...absolutely stunning. We also really loved the small-town atmosphere of La Cruz. It was so refreshing not to be surrounded by swarms of tourists. If you want a laid back, relaxing, peaceful vacation this is the place for you! We are already planning our return trip.

If you want to have a truly relaxing vacation on a quiet beach, stay in a guesthouse which is tastefully decorated, has all the amenities that one could want and feel that you are visiting friends, then simply baku is the destination for you. Everything is as the pictures show only brighter and more vibrant if that is possible.
Marianne and Mike have created a vacation spot that truly deserves the title of casual elegance. The guest house we stayed in from steps away from the beach so the sound of the waves would lull us to sleep in the very comforable king size bed. It was kept sparkling clean by the daily maid service who put fresh flowers in a vase every couple of days. the grounds are beautiful with all types of flowers and foliage which not only looks lovely but also gives privacy.
The village of La Cruz has many restaurants which offer a variety of tasty meals. We found the Mexican people in the village to be friendly and helpful. Of course it is easy to get to larger places such as Bucerias or Sayulito if you want to visit more crowded areas. I would highly recommend simply baku and my best recommendation perhaps is the fact that we booked to return next year before we left only this time we will stay for longer than 18 days.

We can’t say enough about our experience at Simply Baku. The garden house looked good in the pictures, but you never know if reality will measure up. In this case, it exceeded our hopes, right from the fresh guacamole and ice cold Coronas greeting us in the fridge, to Marianne and Mike’s responsiveness to our every need, to the spacious exquisitely decorated guesthouse surrounded by lush gardens with a small but ample view of Banderas Bay. We fully enjoyed the patio, pool and BBQ shared only with the guests upstairs. Marianne and Mike have thought of every detail, even providing items like beach towels, bug repellent and a flashlight.

Simply Baku is a unique gem, set apart from the plethora of cookie cutter condos and hotel rooms in the Puerto Vallarta area. This was the perfect place to host visiting friends and family while we stayed on our boat in the La Cruz marina just a five-minute walk away. La Cruz is the ideal small quiet town with beautiful beaches, lots of great restaurants and music venues, and is an easy local bus ride away from all the busy tourist attractions. The situation could not have been more ideal and everyone gave rave reviews. On departure we left a deposit for next year. That says it all.

We stumbled into Simply Baku from an advertisement online and booked an oceanfront casita for 6 night’s stay sight unseen and without any recommendation aside from the testimonials written here. As the trip approached, apprehension began to set in – “would the place live up to the pictures?” If you are wondering the same thing let me assure you that Simply Baku is absolutely fantastic and is the one place where what you see is what you get and more. It is so very beautiful. I love the use of colors inside and outside of the casitas. The landscaping is lush and very well taken care of by the gardener & Mike. We spent most of our time outside and the views are magnificent. The hospitality provided by Marianne and Mike was outstanding. If we needed anything they were there. The housekeeping staff was on top of everything. We too got the guacamole daily. Who wouldn’t when it’s so fantastic?

If you need anything just head into La Cruz where you can buy a beer or two, a couple of eggs or a peco’s worth of cilantro at small grocery stores which are dotted all around the town. We did wish that we had some basic Spanish and will take care of that before our next trip for sure! The restaurants are great and surprisingly numerous. Our two favorites were Tacos on the Street and Frascattis. Be sure and go to the Sunday market at the Marina. We will definitely go back to Simply Baku. Marianne thanks for the trip to Bucerias! My husband and I escaped rainy Seattle for a week of sun in La Cruz. We chose this destination due to its proximity to the big Marina at La Cruz at which our friends were staying on their boat. We opted for more comfortable accommodations and Baku was ideal. Each of the four beachfront casitas are well situated just a few steps from the beach, and clustered around a modest but refreshing pool. Each casita is a perfect size and set up for a couple, with a very comfy king sized bed. If you're not a couple, the open shower (open to the rest of the bathroom, and no doors just carefully placed walls separating the bathroom from the rest of the room) may be an issue for some guests. The room has great ceiling fans, which were absolutely silent, so no annoying rattling during the night. The nights were cool and comfortable, and even with the window shutters open during the night, no bugs to worry about. The kitchen was nicely equipped, and I loved the daily maid service who did the dishes.

Marianne picked us up at the airport, and did a great job looking after us. We celebrated my birthday at Baku, and my friends and family had worked with Marianne to surprise me with breakfast on my birthday , and a personal chef-prepared dinner on a subsequent night. It was a great present, and Marianne was a great help to the gift givers !

The beach is beautiful, and surprisingly empty. For now. Baku is on a unique stretch of beach, mostly devoid of development, beach vendors, and restaurants playing loud music. A healthy walk down the beach will get you those things if you want them. We opted for dinner in town a few nights, all very close to the hotel, and very reasonably priced. We just enjoyed the beach time, did lots of reading , and the wifi worked great so email and streaming video worked. Yes, you can use Netflix there!

For a quiet, romantic holiday, I highly recommend Baku.

Forget the hotels, Simply Baku is the place to come for the perfect beach vacation. The beautifully decorated casitas sit amidst palm trees and bougainvillea, on the beach, just a few paces from the bay. The fully outfitted kitchen boasts everything you might need to prepare a meal on the terrace. The king-sized bed with its romantic canopy and the spacious bathroom with its large walk-in shower are worthy of the most discerning sybarite. The sea breezes and pounding surf ease guests into restful sleep. Marianne and Mike have created a magical place, and they go out of their way to make guests feel at home, from the welcoming guacamole, beer, and tostados to the house book loaded with good advice about what to see and where to eat. With 23 restaurants in the village of La Cruz, cooking is entirely optional.

The Simply Baku resort is more than WONDERFUL! We were afraid to expect too much, the photos online looking almost “too good to be true”... But, in actuality, it was even better than the photos. AMAZING... Definitely 5* all the way, immaculate and beautifully designed 'n decorated “cassitas”! And, the beach location was paradise.

The cassitas are not air conditioned but you would not want them air conditioned because the ocean breezes and being immersed in the beach environment are so much a part of the experience. You say, "What about bugs coming in?" We saw only one bug the whole week and it was a 1/2" sand beetle that probable came in on our flip-flops.

The town of La Cruz is undeveloped and open to exploration at your own desire. We tried three restaurants, "Tacos on the Street" (a must!), Philo's (a sports bar) and Sandzibar's (a restaurant in a high-end resort 3 min. down the beach), all very different experiences all we would recommend without hesitation. With the new marina right there in La Cruz and big yachts and catamarans coming in, this town has the potential to become an inviting 'port 'to many ocean travellers.
And the bonus at Simply Baku was the exemplary service: Marianne and Mike, and their hard-working crew, put in many hours each day to keep the resort manicured and pristine but their friendliness and willingness to help make your vacation the best goes beyond anyone's expectations, especially for a small, privately-owned resort. Examples: cervesas, guacamole n chips on your arrival, breakfast foods ready-to-go in your fridge, personalized greet 'n transport service from the airport, a car to use for errands and little trips. We loved the guacamole so much we asked to have it delivered every afternoon -- and there it appeared in our fridge each day! We asked for a chef to make us dinner in our cassita and we were WOW'd by a young, charming chef who brought all the food, his own grill and professional tools, who whipped up an amazing feast in our kitchen... appetizers, grilled Red snapper 'n prawns, marinated vegetables, rice and a pineapple/chocolate ice cream dessert to-die-for. When the dreaded day came that we had to leave, we asked Marianne to arrange a taxi and there it was even 5 min. early! We were NEVER disappointed with anything.
We are planning on bring our family and friends back to SIMPLY BAKU some day.
