Our stay at this site was nothing short of wonderful! We loved the location, the amenities provided by the owners, the weather, everything!
We especially enjoyed the internet availability and the bookshelves full of travel books, fiction, birding books, etc.
The owners have thought of everything.
We were close to all sorts of outdoor activities, to shopping, and to great restaurants. The back patio made for perfect relaxing and dining, especially since the kitchen was so well equipped. We watched the changes in colors across the Organ Mountains each sunrise and sunset, and saw such wonderful sights, including bird migrations, all from the back patio.
The owners are very accommodating and cordial, so easy to work with.
This place is the best!

Owner's Response: Pat and Virgil have now moved to month long renters! February 2013 will be their 5th winter to visit. The longtime March renters, Bob and June were unable to come this year (2012), so Pat has lovingly taken over the job of pruning the many rose bushes. It seems our renters truly become "friends" during their stay in our property. We were able to meet Pat and Virgil in person last summer (2011). What a treat to finally meet face to face one of our faithful renters/friends.If you'd like to join our growing circle of "Friends", contact Delilah now for available rental dates and rates.

My husband and I just returned from a vacation in Las Cruces and this house was the perfect home for us as we we explored the area and enjoyed the weather, culture and food. This is a beautiful house, well cared for, roomy, comfortable, and with all the amenities. This was our first extended visit to southern NM and the owner was very helpful in answering any questions we had about the house and the area, which we really appreciated. The house is conveniently located in walking distance to the old town square in Mesilla, and although close to downtown Las Cruces, it is removed from the traffic and major thoroughfares and located in a quiet neighborhood. We took many day trips during our stay and we were always happy to return at the end of the day to this peaceful home. We hated to leave and will rent this house again when we return to the area. We highly recommend it to others.
Owner's Response: Thanks for the kind words. We look forward to your return.

This is a lovely house. Wonderfully comfortable, lovingly decorated with very comfortable beds and an incredible kitchen.
We had a very nice time and enjoyed all the amenities the house had to offer. The owner was extremely helpful and very friendly.
I would definitely recommend this house to anyone who had occasion to be in Las Cruces.
The only negative is Las Cruces itself. We are contemplating a yearly long term rental or property purchase somewhere in the sunshine. Las Cruces does not suit us. It is the epitome of urban sprawl, with no apparent land use planning.

This house was everything described and much more. It was immaculate, beautifully decorated, and extremely well stocked with high quality kitchen items, area maps, printer, and much, much more. The area is beautiful...surrounded by mountains with great hiking. The Mexican food, both in restaurants and groceries, was top notch. Many other nearby attactions include White Sands, Organ Mountains, El Paso, TX along with decent museums and a great art house movie theater. We highly recommend the area and especially the house. It was a wonderful experience/
Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your stay. Please come back.

We had an absolutely wonderful time. The house and its location are ideal!! It (house) was clean and well maintained and stocked with essentials (spices, pots/pans, dishtowels, TP, washer/dryer. etc.

We had friends visit us and all had plenty of room to spread out. There are two Master suites; wonderful. It trully is a home away from home.

We were able to visit White Sands, Dripping Springs, Cloud Croft AND then make our way home for food and drinks. We played golf (some played tennis), entertained friends and family living in the Las Cruces area. We enjoyed Josephina's, Lorenzo's, St Clair's Winery, High Desert Brewery and Pecan Brewery and of course shopping in Old Mesilla.

Thanks to the Owners for making our vacation possible by sharing their home with us.

Owner's Response: So glad we had a time frame for you, Julie. We are even more pleased to know you loved our Home Away for Home as much as we do. Please make plans to ruturn again soon, you've only begun to scratch the surface of "Things to Do" in the area.
In the future, you'll know the drill for when the beautiful Organ Mountains turn pink.

We spent one month in this wonderful home. It was perfectly described, immaculate and very comfortable. The owners and property managers were readily available for a couple of minor glitches. Every possible amenity was available for our use. The area is perfect for sightseeing, shopping and has an abundance of museums. Locals are warm and friendly. Although Mexican food is most popular, many other cuisines can easily be found. Because we visited here in the winter, we missed the area in full bloom and plan to visit again at a different time of year. We would highly recommend this property to family and friends

Owner's Response: We managed to find room for Susan and John's first visit between all our returning renters, some returning for their 4th year. Now we have a wonderful new set of friends who love our Old Mesilla home too. We will welcome them back when they can make it. Until then, perhaps we can find room for your visit and you can become our new friends too.

What a wonderful place to "escape" to

We really enjoyed our stay at this wonderful home in Las Cruces. We spent the last week of a two week visit to New Mexico here and it ended up being a great decision.

The weather was fantastic for December as it ranged from the mid 60's to low 70's the entire time and every morning we had blue sky with a great view of the scenic Organ mountains from the many windows in the kitchen, great room and office areas.

The neighborhood is nice as it is within walking distance to Old Mesilla, and very convenient to I-10 which got us to the highlights of Las Cruces as well as to the scenic drives and hikes we chose to take to the Northwest (City of Rocks, Gila National Forest, Elephant Butte State Park, etc.) as well as to the Northeast (White Sands, Cloudcroft, etc.).

The home was extremely comfortable and well supplied in every area. The beds were very comfortable, nice bathrooms, stocked and well laid out kitchen and thoughtful details such as comfortable blankets to cover up with while relaxing in the great room, printer for printing boarding passes, fax machine, etc.. We were never in need of anything beyond the ingredients to make our own meals!

The owner is a pleasure to work with and very responsive to email and phone calls. We highly recommend staying here if you plan to spend time exploring Las Cruces and the surrounding area.

Owner's Response: This was a short notice rental, but paying by Pay Pal and a great cleaning lady and cleaning crew made it all come together.
It is such a joy to know that the great care we take to make our "Home Away from Home" a place of comfort is appreciated.
He forgot to mention the Banana Nut Bread awaiting them in the fridge. We hope they will return again.

This house is absolutely wonderful-- beautiful, comfortable, in a really convenient location and clean beyond belief. The views from the dining room and living rooms are fantastic. Ever changing views of the beautiful Organ mountains.

There are so many really great restaurants, casual, historic, elegant and all with outstanding food of all kinds, types and nationalities, that we have to make lists and choose a different one each time we eat out. After several weeks there we haven’t been able to make them all.

There are great museums, and sights. Day trips are numerous and just lazing around at the house is splendid.

We hate to leave after each visit and can hardly wait to book it again. In fact we have tried to book the house for a month, but return renters never want to give up their dates so we haven’t been able to get the house for more than 2 weeks at a time that will work with our schedule. We will be leaving soon for another stay there.

The owners are delightful to deal with and go out of their way to make you feel as if you are special guests visiting them in their home. The manager is thoughtful and caring as well.

Las Cruces has EVERYTHING. If almost all our family didn’t live within 35 miles of our permanent home we would MOVE to Las Cruces and try to buy a duplicate of the Eakman house.

Here’s hoping anyone lucky enough to rent this house enjoys the visit there even half as much as we do. You will love it.

Owner's Response: Yes, it is true. Our renters become like family. June has just received her wish and will be at the house the entire month of March 2010. Of course, she has booked 13 months in advance!
This spring, Bob was able to give the many rose bushes their spring prune. Another renter has planted fresh herbs in the herb garden AND booked the house for a month next year.
We enjoy our new "friends" we make when they rent our beautiful property and they become not "renters" but new friends.

Although we left Las Cruces over 50 years ago we enjoy getting back to visit anytime we can, especially in the winter. The House was so conveniently located to all the special places we love: Old Mesilla, La Posta, Double Eagle and the Plaza at Christmas. We watched spectacular sunrises over the Organ Mountains from the patio. All the amenities we could ever need were on hand. We would highly recommend this property and we'll stay here again in a heartbeat. ENJOY!
