Photos and Description of the Santa Fe vacation house rental
Luxurious 1 BR 1 BA GuesthouseIn Downtown Historic District

Romantic, exquisite and only two blocks from Santa Fe Plaza! Tucked away in an historic downtown Santa Fe neighborhood is McKenzie House. Relax and enjoy Santa Fe at its finest. Just steps away from the Plaza and major attractions including Spanish Market, Indian Market and other world-class events, you can treat yourself in downtown Santa Fe. This very special, newly remodeled and private guesthouse is located in the heart of the historic district. We are the closest residential home north of the Plaza! Better than a hotel and more space than a B and B, you have your own fully equipped 'casita' (little house) and central location to enjoy the many sights and activities of Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico. Our comfortable and luxuriously relaxing casita is freestanding and separate from our main home; both sanctioned historically significant structures by the City of Santa Fe. Our main home was built circa 1915, the casita was the original carriage house.

McKenzie House is an intimate, 'studio style' (approx. 350 sq. ft.) accommodation with every attention to detail. Lovingly redesigned in 2001 to include both old world charms and contemporary amenities, including a outdoor hot tub, flat-screen TV/DVD, full kitchen, washer/dryer, and kiva fireplace. We have furnished our casita with traditional, contemporary and folk arts from the Southwest region, including Fritz Scholder, Louie Ewing and Bill Schenck. Past guests have described our casita as 'peaceful', 'relaxing' and 'extremely convenient'. Many guests have commented, 'you have thought of everything!' (See more guest comments on the link below.)

Experience the excitement and charm of Santa Fe in the comforts of your own private neighborhood.

Dine at your leisure in your contemporary kitchen or the numerous world class restaurants within easy walking distance, relax by the kiva fireplace or in your private outdoor hot tub and patio, and stroll to the many sights and adventures of the Santa Fe Plaza. Take a short drive up the mountain to the Santa Fe ski area and magnificent hiking. Perfect for the many activities that happen downtown, such as the Chamber Music Festival, Spanish Market, Indian Market (also just two blocks away), Fiestas, etc. The new Santa Fe Community Convention Center is one short block away. Private parking, locking front gate and a beautiful southwestern garden are yours! So come, stay and relax.

We have equipped our casita with all the amenities that will make your stay with us as pleasant as possible: a romantic kiva fireplace, direct dial phone that lets you stay in touch with the outside world, adjustable ceiling fan for a cool breeze, big fluffy towels for your hot tub and shower, and specialty soaps and shampoos to pamper you. Comfortable bathrobes and a hairdryer are furnished so you can leave yours at home. Cable television will bring the world to you on a state of the art Panasonic 15.2' LCD flat panel screen with DVD for movies (many provided), as well as wireless internet access- if you decide to bring it with you. The artwork in the casita is like living in your own private Santa Fe gallery!

We love Santa Fe and its rich culture, and you will be able to see this not only in the beautiful southwestern art and handicrafts with which we decorate our casita but also in your private garden and patio.

My husband and I knew the moment we walked into the courtyard we would love staying at McKenzie house. The ambiance and atmosphere reminded us of our travels staying at quaint European rooms with courtyards. It is also within walking distance to fabulous restaurants and the plaza.
Thank you David and Cindy for such a lovely and comfortable stay.

Adorable

My wife walked in and declared it 'adorable.' It is. It is not large, but it is lovely. We had a great week here. The owner was gracious and helpful. We walked everywhere downtown for restaurants, museums, shopping and with our own driveway/parking we were able to hop in and take off on adventures outside of town without fears of losing a 'good parking spot.' The art and decor are beautiful, the gas fireplace was great, everything worked. I would recommend this to couples who want to explore downtown Santa Fe. It is charming.

Tiny but Perfect

This cozy casita is very compact, but has everything a couple needs for a perfect stay. The use of space was very clever. The location could not be better, one block behind the Georgia O'Keefe Museum. It is beautifully remodeled, with a lovely private patio with hot tub, a kiva fireplace in the corner, a comfy bed, fully equipped kitchen, huge shower, and a washer/dryer. The patio was nice to sit on the first two days, but when it started snowing on the third day, we were glad to have the fireplace morning and evening to warm the place up, and it gives the room so much atmosphere. Cynthia was easy to work with throughout the whole reservation process and during our stay. She even let us leave our car in the driveway after checkout while we got one last lunch in Santa Fe.

A Wonderful Retreat in the Heart of Santa Fe

The guest house is located so close to everything downtown Santa Fe has to offer, but the best thing about it is the secluded feel of being away from it all! Our hosts were gracious and very helpful, and made us feel right at home. The guest house is small, and yet offers more than just the essentials, with extra towels, robes, blankets and sundries tucked away. The inside space is well thought out with details that go a long way: skylights, tiled kitchen counters, modern appliances and a fireplace. The patio area was just lovely with a hot tub perfect for two. Use it for stargazing, morning soaks and to watch the blossoms nearby follow the sun. The entire visit was serene and very enjoyable thanks to the care and attention of our hosts. Thank you!!

We stayed here for our 10 year anniversary in 2007 and it was an adorable, secluded, romantic little
guesthouse in great proximity to The Plaza. Amenities were spot-on and extremely comfortable.

Wonderful Stay

McKenzie house is an adorable little cottage perfect for two. My boyfriend and I were so pleased when we stepped in the door. Tons of privacy, nicely decorated, lovely music provided, yummy breakfast treats (especially the coffee) and a hot tub to boot. We sat out in the courtyard every morning and enjoyed the beautiful Santa Fe weather. The location is just a five minute walk to the plaza, which made it convenient as parking in the downtown area is not the easiest. And Cynthia, the owner/host, was friendly and accommodating. This was my second trip to Santa Fe and I can definitely say I won't look anywhere else to stay the next time I come to town. I look forward to visiting again.
