We offer large piers, (in a NO WAKE) so bring just your fishing pole or bring your boat and take a leisurely 15 minute boat ride to Newville, fishing many of the great holes along the way or maybe trying a little water-skiing, or go out onto the Lake to The Buckhorn Supper Club for dinner, where boat parking is available. You may want to take a stroll across the bridge and have lunch at The Edgewater Restaurant or at Off The Hook Grub and Pub. Pickup some bait and supplies at Trep's Bait Shop. Serenity at Last!!

The hospitality we received is greatly appreciated. I needed this vacation very much and look forward to being able to vacation here again.
We enjoyed our vacation very much! Waking up to the view of Rock River every morning was serene. My husband and daughter enjoyed fishing off the pier which we had access to all the time. The rest of us enjoyed the peacefulness that surrounded us all day. I especially enjoyed feeding the ducks and watching them frolic in the river. While we were there we were able to visit Wisconsin Dells and took a tour of Wisconsin River on the Duck Boat. We went to a few antique shops in Milton, WI., where we purchased a few things for our home back in Illinois. The best (and the most painful for me) was our horseback riding trip. It was well worth the drive out to Mauston, WI. We went to Red Ridge Ranch, where they treated us considerably well knowing most of us were beginners. I definitely recommend going here for horseback riding if you are looking for a more natural experience.
If you are looking for peace and quiet, and to be surrounded by nature, this is a perfect place for it.

Stayed here October of 2009 and had a wonderful time! We fished from the dock everyday and our dog had a great time swimming in the river. It was nice to have a full kitchen, washer and dryer. The bait shop is within walking distance along with a couple of eateries. We also went to some state parks hiking and enjoyed the fall colors. George was very informative and suggested a few attractions in the area plus there are pamphlets at the cottage. The views from the porch and bedroom were beautiful. We will definitely be back; its so close to Chicago.

We rented this cabin during August 2009 for a family vacation and couldn't have had a better experience. The property is charming and well appointed. Our 10 year old son loved fishing off the docks and the bridge most days. We also took a day trip up to Wisconsin Dells which our 10 and 17 year old sons greatly enjoyed. The only downside to our vacation was how quickly the week flew by for our family. We'll definitely think about returning next summer.

My husband and I and some friends rented this property for a weekend in October 2008. The house is lovely and charming and very clean. The historic house sits on a breathtaking river. There also is a dam on the river and it is only a few feet away. Our fellows were tickled to have so many options to chose from to fish. The girls and I enjoyed the view of the fall foliage and all the different birds from the screened in porch. It was a perfect place to read, drink and play cards. With 3 nice sized bedrooms there was also plenty of room for us. I thought having the full kitchen with everything you might need at your fingertips was wonderful. If you can't live with out technology it has internet access (bring your laptop) and the tv next to the gas fireplace has tons of cable channels to watch "the game." Just pack your clothes, fishing pole and stop at the grocery store. Relaxation awaits at this great spot!!!
There is also a little night life if you want with a couple of local taverns in short walking distance.

We have stayed in this clean, well kept river home/cottage 2-3 different times & have enjoyed our stays immensely. Our toddler enjoyed splashing around in the river & fishing off the docks or at Indianford dam just across the street. Bait shop/groceries/restaurant/bar just across the river & you can walk there over the bridge. Lots of beautiful lakes (be sure to checkout beach & fishing at Lake Ripley) & streams nearby(great fishing at Dunkirk Dam) & great golf too in Edgerton, Janesville & Rockford, IL. Waterski show in Janesville on Wed & Sun is free & kids will love it(pretty good playground there too). There's a flower garden there too. George & Chris (the homeowners) are friendly & hospitable & make sure that your family & group have a great vacation. For a river experience, you get a pretty good value here. If your family is big or you just need some extra room they also rent a beautiful little cottage next door. If you're just one or two couples you may like the romatic value of it better. We like the area so much we found a similar property, bought it & moved to Wisconsin!!!
