Sea Village Condos - Sounds like a Great Deal, but Falls Short
We couldn't believe that we scored a condo on Ali'i Drive in Kona for $89 a night! What a deal, or so we thought. Hidden in this cost was a $49 insurance fee, a $30 processing fee, and a whopping $100 cleaning fee, plus tax! For a $100 cleaning fee, we didn't expect to have to do laundry, wash dishes, take out the trash, etc. before we left. And we only stayed 3 days.
Although the condo was **** and span and had a partial view of the ocean, the condo itself lacked ventilation on the hot and humid nights. Without air-conditioning, we sweat the night away. And this is probably my biggest complaint about the property.
I understand that rules are important in keeping a property clean and safe for all guests, but the "kapu" was more than a little annoying. "Don't do this, don't do that, can't do this, none of this, etc." I felt like a school child being chided by the principal. We had just stayed at a lovely house in Kapoho without the kapu, without the steep cleaning fee, without the list of chores before check out, and WITH ventilation; so our experience was a let down.
