We live in San Francisco. Both of us grew up in the Bay Area and went camping along the coast when we were kids.
We wanted a home on the coast near where we went camping with our families when we were kids. We looked for a home that didn't seem suburban. We wanted great ocean views, and we wanted to be surrounded by trees. We were fortunate to find this gem of a home and purchase it from its original owners.
Our home is of post and beam construction with lots of exposed wood that gives it a warm feeling. The home is nestled against a hedgerow of Cypress and Pine trees, yet has fantastic ocean views: some white water views and an expansive blue water view to the south and west. We have lovingly updated the home, retaining its original charm. Decks and outdoor seating areas provide spots to read or sunbathe outside when the weather is warm. There is room for everyone to congregate upstairs for meals, conversation, games, watching TV or watching the fire in the wood stove. A drop-down section of the deck rail allows for a nice ocean view while in the four-person hot tub. The hidden garden always seems to have something blooming or colorful to enjoy. The grasses in the meadow outside give a wonderful show of wildflowers for several months out of the year.
