Long-anticipated by the rental market and reminiscent of a grand old-Florida-style beach home, Shutters by the Sea is nestled among the dunes on one of the widest beachfront lots on the Cape. One-mile north of The Trading Post market and adjacent to Rish Park, a half-mile stretch of secluded beach, this home provides the perfect combination of convenience and privacy. Spacious decks showcase the beauty of this magnificent expanse. The first thing we hear when guests arrive is “The views are spectacular!” Enjoy our famous sunsets from one of two deck swings as dolphins swim just offshore. Adirondack and iron furniture provide plenty of outdoor seating for the entire family. In the mornings, grab a cup of coffee and enjoy the sunrise at the built-in corner tables at the east end of the deck. Try to count the mahogany shutters adorning the exterior. But if you spend all of your time outside, you’ll miss the other half of what makes Shutters by the Sea so special.
Built in 1985 and renovated in the summer of 2012, this home is full of character unusual in newer homes. With every room opening to the wraparound decks, Shutters by the Sea features wide-open spaces in which to relax and gather with family and friends. Antique-lovers will appreciate unique pieces and original artwork from around the world interspersed among modern comforts.
On the main level, the living, dining and kitchen areas are situated to take full advantage of the spectacular ocean views. With granite counters and columned bar, this kitchen is fully-stocked with cook and bakeware, utensils, spices and serving pieces to please the most finicky chefs.
The living and dining areas flow together and offer seating galore, a 50” HDTV, Bose sound system, fireplace, games, movies, books and jaw-dropping views of the sea.
The main level also has two bedrooms – one with two queen beds and snuggly, duvet-wrapped, down comforters and the other with one pillow-topped king bed. Both also have HDTVs, adjacent full bathrooms and private doors to the deck.
Upstairs you will find a library, perfect for curling up with a book and watching winter storms. Here you will find a queen foldout sofa, overstuffed chairs, IPod dock, coffee/tea station, washbasin and doors to the upstairs deck.
The adjacent and luxurious master suite features a memory foam-topped king bed, ample seating, HDTV and doors to the upstairs deck. The upstairs bath features a double shower with floor-to-ceiling glass.
Shutters by the Sea provides satellite reception via Direct TV which includes over 200 channels, NetFlix and NFL Sunday Ticket; WiFi and free local and long-distance calls. The decks are gated so that little ones (both two and four-legged) will be safe. A foot-wash, where you can clean off the powder-white sand that will accompany you as you leave the beach, is located on the landing to the dune walk.
Hartley Lane was resurfaced and leveled in March 2013, so the drive-up to your beach house is stress-free. Enjoy plenty of protected parking as well as a covered seating area with sink and fish-cleaning station. A private, outdoor shower with hot and cold water provide the perfect place to cool-off, clean-off or warm-up after a day outside.
Old-world quality meets new-world luxury and convenience at Shutters by the Sea.
PLEASE NOTE: For the comfort of our guests, this home and premises are SMOKE-FREE and we ask that all dogs be treated for fleas prior to arrival.
We are from Atlanta, Georgia.
We purchased Shutters by the Sea in May 2012 and have been vacationing at Cape San Blas since 2010. The clean, uncrowded, dog-friendly beaches and beautiful sand, surf and sunsets keep drawing us back from our home in Atlanta.
