A Fantastic Vacation House

Taos Lover St. Paul, MN
Review Submitted: August 22, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We rented this Casita Truchas for our summer vacation 2009. During our 10 days stay, I couldn't describe how happy we are. Every night, we sat in the hot tub, watching the moon rise from behind the mountains. One night, we watched Milky Way and shooting stars. I don't remember when was last time I have had such experience. My son, who is thirteen years old, rated this is one of our best vacations. There are so many friendly humming birds outside the house. On our first day, a few humming birds came into the house. Everyday we explored the surroundings. There are so much to do. We did rock-climbing at the Taos Ski Valley, White water rafting, hiking at the Tao's SKi Valley, swimming in the Rio Grande and the hot springs. The best part for me was the Taos Chamber Music festival. I would go back just for that and for many other things. The overall experience was great.
Owner's Response: Thanks guys. Hope to see you again.
Steve

Perfect getaway!!!!! I always look for these reviews before we rent anyplace and as usual the reviews did not disappoint. Casita Truchas has the most beautiful views. Sitting from the hot tub on the deck...the views were spectacular.
Steve has put all the right touches in this casita...We certainly hope to enjoy it again in the future!! Steve, we will be back...

Great spot

We had a great time at Casita Truchas. It's very quiet and private, but it's a short drive to Arroyo Seco where you can get meals or shop. It's within easy reach of spectacular mountains and gorges. The cabin is well away from the bustle of Taos, but when you want to do something in town (and can't do it in Arroyo Seco) it's an easy and pleasant drive.

The cabin itself is very spacious and comfortable, and the hot tub is great after a long hike. Everything was well-maintained -- there were none of the little annoyances I usually run into at hotels.

Highly recommended.

Wonderful Casita with Fantastic Views!

Tsvete New York City, NY, USA
Review Submitted: May 28, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We stayed in Casita Truchas in the middle of May. We really wanted to escape the stress of New York City, we love nature, we love New Mexico, we wanted to find a nice and quiet place and we were very lucky to find Casita Truchas. The Casita is very cozy and well appointed and only a short drive from Taos. We were so comfortable there - it is amazing how much detail was put into it, and we really felt like we were at home, only Casita Truchas was a much more peaceful home.
The outdoor deck is great for taking the views in and observing the birds, and especially the hummingbirds!
Steve is a fantastic host and so friendly! Steve, if you come to NYC, come and hang out with us!
I would highly recommend Casita Truchas to anyone, but especially to nature enthusiasts!

the casita is truly everything as described AND then some. I don't know how this little place could possibly be improved on, Peter, Susan, and Steve seem to have thought of everything.
my family always enjoys our time in Arroyo Seco, up at the ski valley and hiking. the casita actually added to our experience, we even spent a day just hanging out there, to enjoy its 'experience'. This trip was myself (mom) my son and one friend of his, the casita was perfect for three.
It is set up as a great place for a romantic getaway, or for 4 people who travel well together.

A Perfect Getaway!

Review Submitted: March 6, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2009
My husband and I spent a wonderful week at the casita celebrating our anniversary. It was a perfect location between the town and the ski valley. The photos on the web site are accurate and a great representation. Everything was clean, well-maintained and so quiet. It was just wonderful. We had an amazing dinner at Joseph's Table and a decent dinner at Graham's Grill, but were definitely disappointed with the latter after all of the great reviews. We also had fun popping down to Old Blinking Light for an apre ski drink. Utlimately, it was a great vacation and we highly, highly recommend the Casita.

Home Away From Home

Review Submitted: February 21, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2009
My husband and I spent a long weekend at Casita Truchas, and it was absolutely perfect and even more beautiful than the pictures. We arrived very late on a Friday night, and Steve had the lights on for us and the Casita was nice and warm, and extremely clean. We skiied for two days, and there was nothing better than coming home to the Casita for a sunset soak in the hot tub. We'll definitely go back this summer, and we wouldn't stay anywhere else.!
Owner's Response: Thanks guys, It was a pleasure meeting you both. Look forward to our next meeting. Thanks for leaving the Casita in great shape.

We have come twice during winter and find the casita to be just the right mix of relaxing and full of life. We were snowed in this year, and definitely needed chains for our front wheel drive. The roads are cleared regularly; however. Just everything you can ask for in a winter escape. We're considering a summer visit to see the landscape and views full of green.

What a wonderful escape and absolutely breathtaking sunsets. It was a cozy home away from home. It was clean with all the amenities needed. I would be a little concerned getting up to the place during snowy weather. Without the snow, it was very rocky, but other than that WELL WORTH IT!

Now that we are back home, we realize that the 4 nights we stayed at The Casita were the best overall of our month-long roadtrip! The air was so pure and sweet, the stars, mountains and dramatic autumn skies were stunning. We loved the privacy and the marvelous comfort of the Casita and its charming decor. Nothing was missing - every detail such as plug in flashlight, convenient hooks, day pack, washer/dryer, bird guides to read up on the magpies - all thoughtfully provided. Steve, our host, was just the best - in truth, we could not have had a more wonderful stay. Thank you!!
