Beautiful and inviting

This farmhouse is absolutely gorgeous! A group of 7 of us girls stayed at this home for a girls retreat over the weekend. Everyone kept saying they wanted to buy the house because it is so cute and well-decorated! The kitchen is huge and provides plenty of space to prepare meals together. They have just about any and every kitchen appliance, gadget, serving dish, etc. that you could possible ever need. The dining room table is beautiful and provides plenty of seating for a large crowd. All of the bathrooms have a shower which was nice with 7 girls. When we arrived, the house was absolutely spotless. The owners were so sweet and accommodating, but also gave us our privacy and did not intrude during our stay. I would recommend this property without any hesitation. In fact, we are already planning to book this property for another upcoming retreat.

Spring Break 2013 visit

This farmhouse is very attractive, roomy and comfortable. There were 7 adults and 6 children ranging in age from 2 yrs. to 12 yrs. in our group. There was plenty of room for everyone and with our air mattresses, we all had a place to sleep without feeling like the bedrooms were crowded. The bathrooms were nice and spacious with plenty of towels and hot water to accommodate everyone's showers...half of us showered at night and the other half in the morning and no one did without hot water. We appreciated the use of the washer/dryer.

I would only make 2 suggestions...some small to medium sized plastic glasses for the children's use and to be used in the bathrooms, and room-darkening shades or curtains in the bedrooms as it was a bit difficut to fall asleep with the amount of light that shined in the windows.

We were busy each day with trips to the zoo and children's museums (highly recommend both), so did not have much time to relax and enjoy the grounds. It was a bit cold also, but we all agreed we would like to return maybe in the summer to enjoy the house AND grounds. Highly recommend this rental...the listing was accurate in all ways and it was well worth the money.

Incredible getaway for the family

Just returning to "reality" after a 3-nighter at the farm and am still blown away by how much the entire family really enjoyed the accommodations and the time together. The farmhouse itself is anything but a "farmhouse". It includes everything you need to enjoy the overnight(s)...up to and including soap and shampoo dispensers in every shower. The kitchen is fabulous and well stocked with all the silverware and cooking tools that you need to produce some great family meals. All appliances are relatively new and in perfect working condition. The place is spotless from cleanliness perspective and beautifully decorated. There's a full entertainment center with Directv, DVR, dvd player and free wi-fi. The master bedroom also has a flatscreen on the wall.

The grounds are clean, just like the house, and there's plenty of free space for the kids to run and stay out of trouble. Rarely do you see a car on the road as it is off the beaten path and just the right recipe for what we ordered. There's also a very large patio with table and chairs and a cast iron fire pit for use. Separately, you have the front porch as seen in the pics on the site and another deck that houses a picnic table and grill.

Had some time to spend with Chris to talk about the farm and he was gracious enough to take the kids through the barn to show them the chicks along with the baby pigs and nesting chickens.

Prior to your arrival, I would schedule to have some food delivered to your fridge so that you can partake in some of the delicious product yielded from the farm. We ordered the farm fresh eggs, jowl bacon (incredible) and some of the italian pork sausage that we used to make meatballs. The rest of the items were placed in the freezer so that we could transport home for future use.

All in all relaxing, time well spent weekend with family that will never be forgotten...and probably to be repeated again next year. If you're looking for some quality time with family and/or friends in the country then I can't think of a better place to recommend.

Great Family Retreat

We stayed at the FarmHouse to celebrate Easter with our children and grandchildren. It was a great experience. Everything we could ask for was provided--including an excellent kitchen and MP3 player. (Two things for which we were especially grateful.) The house was spacious, clean, and well-organized. The owners were gracious and generous. We felt we could really make ourselves at home. It was great for the small kids to have an opportunity to see the farm animals and farm equipment. We will definitely go back. And, when we do, we will purchase some of their fresh produce to use over the weekend.
Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the kind thoughts! We love that you had such a great experience & look forward to your return trip :-)

This was one of the best family get together's ever. We had the time of our lives in this beautiful home. It was so peaceful and with the animals it made it an even better weekend get away. We would definately do this again! Nothing that I can say that would have made this a better experience!

Thank you very much for the wonderful place we have called "home" the past few days. It is beautiful and has truly felt like home to our family. We loved coming back here after full days of sightseeing and also relaxing here to play games and to eat together. The children loved the "puppies" and the great space to run around.

Many good wishes to you and your Tyner Pond Farm in the future.

Family Christmas a HUGE success!!

5 of 5
Submitted: December 30, 2012 Stayed: December 2012
We just returned from our family Christmas at Tyner Pond Farm. We chose this house for family Christmas because of space, affordability, and location - and it did not disappoint! The house managed to impress not only the techies in the family (with the apple tv) but also the farmers and the purist wood stove enthusiast (who almost melted us all!). The sausage left for us in the fridge was some of the best sausage we have ever had. Mark (the farm manager) gave my brother and dad (beef and dairy farmers, respectfully) their own private tour - and the kids (all 8 of them) loved poking through the barns and checking out the animals. All the women were impressed with the kitchen - where we cooked every meal - and impressed at how stocked it was with most necessary supplies (a few more dish towels and scrapers would have been nice!). We even made cheese curds while we were there - as if we weren't making enough other food.

Amazingly enough, for an Indiana Christmas - it snowed. The sidewalks and steps were cleared each morning before anyone meandered out (except Sunday which is understandable). And there is an incredible sledding hill at the park in Greenfield (which is saying alot coming from someone who lives in the Ozarks).

The house was immaculate - and while very nice - it was also very welcoming. It's not a "staunchy" house where you're afraid to sit down! Very clean and well maintained, and very simply decorated for Christmas. We were pleasantly surprised by the two living areas (and assumingly another one when the basement is finished) - as well as plenty of seating - both at the tables for meals and couches/comfy chairs, and space for multiple board games to be played simultaneously.

We will absolutely recommend this property (and already have) and are planning to be back for Christmas next year.

Weekend at a farm!

5 of 5
Submitted: September 10, 2012 Stayed: September 2012
When our father shared his idea of taking the grandkids on a vacation at a farm, my sister and I were a little taken aback. Having made the decision, though, that our family would take at least one trip together each year, we decided that we'd see what we could find. We spent quite a bit of time researching different areas and making lists of possible locations, but never felt like we'd found "the one". Luckily, I decided to check one of our earliest search sites and was pleasantly surprised to see Tyner Pond Farm had been added to the list. It sounded like the exact experience we'd been searching for and happened to be only a short distance away.

Each member of the family had a great time while at the farm; we ranged in ages from 2 years all the way to Grandma and Grandpa. The kids had a wonderful time spending time with the animals and exploring the barns on the property. The adults learned a lot from Chris as he explained his farming methods. We loved the fact that Chris was so willing to let everyone participate in a few of the daily chores. Needless to say, everyone enjoyed the beautiful house, WOW!! Spending time at the farm made us all slow down a little bit, if only for a weekend, and really enjoy one another's company without a lot of other distractions. It was a great place for the family to reconnect and recharge, and most importantly Grandpa got to enjoy "farming" with the grandkids!

Fabulous.

Our stay at the Tyner Pond Farm house was fabulous. A great meetup location for members of our family from Chicago and Cincinnati, and a truly aesthetically beautiful and restorative place to spend the weekend (even a rainy one!). Chris was truly welcoming, and the two 11yo girls in our party delighted in the freedom to roam the farm and visit with the animals (many nights and early mornings were spent with off with the farm cats and with Kobe, the resident canine, or observing new piglets). As an urban family who supports the slow food movement, sustainable agriculture and humane animal treatment, we especially appreciated being able to witness those values in action.

The farmhouse was gorgeous and well-appointed (I'd like to bring the kitchen home with me), beds were super comfy, and we especially appreciated being able to relax outdoors in such a lovely, pastoral setting. It was hard to leave, but we will certainly be back!

Thank you, Tyner Pond Farm, for the wonderful weekend, and for your contributions to sustainable farming!
Owner's Response: Thank you so much! We look forward to you coming back soon!
