Farmhouse in the Fork - a Shelter + Roost property.

The Farmhouse is located in a secluded setting in Leipers Fork, four miles from Historic Leipers Fork Village, twelve miles south of Franklin and thirty miles south of Nashville. The Natchez Trace Parkway is a little over a mile away and is perfect for hiking, biking, horseback riding and scenic drives.

Enjoy your own private retreat in a storybook setting with charm that never ends. Our beautiful home sits on forty-one secluded acres minutes from Historic Leipers Fork Village. This home is ideal for a romantic getaway, weekend with friends, escape for the whole family, artist / writer's retreat, special events and corporate retreats. Whatever that it may be that you are looking for, you'll most likely find it here.

Our five year old son, Wyatt loves to wake up early to see the family of river otters, catch frogs or go fishing in the pond, eat breakfast on the front porch, make s'mores over the crackling fire in the outdoor fireplace and play countless games of Uno and pool in the game room. My husband, Michael instantly fell in love with the beautiful views and the most amazing lightning bugs we have ever seen - hundreds that appear to be dancing all around you. I love waking up with a cup of tea on the front porch or in the sunroom and watching the catfish jump in the lake, lazy afternoons in the hammock - dozing off while reading a good book, eating dinner together outside on the back deck and listening to the banjo strum sound that the Green Frogs make.

Our home features an open living room with a vaulted ceiling and exposed beams and a hand laid fireplace built from stones off the land. The kitchen has granite countertops, a breakfast bar, stainless steel appliances and is stocked with everything you need, from a bottle opener to pots and pans, baking dishes to forks and knives. There is a game room with a pool table, television and a dartboard for endless entertainment as well as movies and board games. The sunroom and master bedroom also have televisions and DVD players. There are three spacious bedrooms in the house. The master bedroom is located on the first floor and has a king sized bed and walk-in closet. The other two rooms have queen size beds and are located on the second floor. An optional inflatable queen bed and two couches will allow for additional guests. Highchair and crib available upon request. The front porch has beautiful lake views and includes rocking chairs, a porch swing and an outdoor table and seating. There is a wood deck in the backyard with an equally beautiful view with a second hand laid fireplace built from stones off the land and a small kid's play structure. There is plenty of open space to play catch or toss the frisbee and a pond near the barn... the pictures say it all.

The Farmhouse truly has a character all it's own... a story to be told, memories to be made... a secluded retreat nestled amongst the trees with wild life aplenty. Sit back, relax and enjoy.

Sarah purchased this house in 2012

Our son five year old son, Wyatt loves to wake up early to see the family of river otters, catch frogs in the pond, make s'mores over the outdoor fireplace and play countless games of Uno and pool. Michael instantly fell in love with the beautiful views and the most amazing lightning bugs we have ever seen - hundreds that appear to be dancing all around you. In the beginning of 2011, we stumbled upon Leiper's Fork by pure chance, it was supposed to be a stopover, a rest stop, on our way to the next destination. It's not everyday we're moved by a person, a place, or an entire town. But we were, and we listened. We spent a year looking at more than 50 homes across Leiper's Fork and Franklin, until we finally made an offer on what would eventually become 'Farmhouse in the Fork'. Since we still lived in California, we decided to make the house available to the occasional guest or short-term renter when we weren't there. Before we knew it people started renting the Farmhouse and they kept coming back. And when their friends and families started contacting us wanting the same experience, we knew we were doing something right. Before we knew it one property turned into two, two turned into four and now Shelter + Roost offers five distinct properties to choose from. Not just any homes, but ones we've spent months and even years searching for. Every property is a reflection of us, our personality, and the places we love to stay. They're home.

With two children and a family owned baby products company as our day job, people often ask us why we don't turn things over to a property manager. The reason? We truly enjoy the relationships we make with our guests. We're not a hotel, we've opened up our homes to you, for you, to enjoy with family and friends. Besides the late nights spent answering emails while the kids sleep or the hours upon hours we spend making sure everything's perfect for our guests, there's something so fulfilling about sharing our properties with others. It's the stories we hear from them, the memories they make and the time they share together in our homes that make us smile.

What a pleasant surprise as we drove down the driveway to "The Farmhouse" in the Fork. There were plenty of oooh's and ahhaa's from all of us. A wonderful place to stay if you are looking for some great relaxation and peace and quite while still wanting to do some site seeing. The place was just as described and well maintained. Beautiful kitchen and porches!! The husbands like to cook and grill so we were in our glory and the wives really enjoyed the porches. The owners were great to work with and followed up with us to be sure that all was fine after our arrival.
Since our primary purpose was to go the the "Final Four" in Nashville that took up the first part of our week stay. "GO UCONN HUSKIES" ! It was easy access to I 840 and I 65 and not that far from many of the places we wanted to see besides going to the Games. We spent some time in Liepers Fork - Puckett's Grocery is a must we enjoyed the food and the show. We missed Wyonna Judd by one day darn! The shops there are great to visit for adults. Went to "Loveless Cafe" for breakfast (a must) just up the road on rt. 100. We also visited several plantations and gardens between Franklin and Nashville.
The town of Franklin is close and we spent a day there - great shops and restaurants. Just plain fun to walk around in town. Everywhere we went was very enjoyable and everybody always cordial. Spent time in Nashville site seeing besides the games and the same goes for Nashville as for things to do and being a friendly city.
We do plan to come back to Tenn and the Nashville area. I would not hesitate having the chance to stay at "The Farmhouse in the Fork" again.
Sarah and family we sincerely enjoyed our stay and felt right at home - beautiful property.

We came to your beautiful city to see the women's final four and cheered them to their 9th NCAA championship. We thought that would be the highlight of our trip, but everyday kept getting better and better. The Grand Ole Opry, Music Hall of Fame, Loveless Cafe (best breakfast ever!), Puckett's, drinks at Rippy's, Where we saw Charlie Daniels just hanging out. What a delight it was to come home to the beautiful farmhouse where we relaxed and recounted the glories of our day. We spent the lst night sitting by the pond with a glass of wine wishing that it was just the beginning!

Home away from home

Wow! What a week! Opryland for dinner, Grand Ole Opry for Craig Morgan, Bashville for boot shopping, Leiper's Fork for foot stompin' entertainment (just missed Carrie Underwood one of the employees said) Darn! Joe Naturals delicious lunch and unforgettable strawberry cake and the Jack Daniel's Distillery tour (well worth the drive) but our favorite was the farmhouse - home away from home. Beautiful decor, comfy beds and cozy fire. The weather was not always on our side, but the farmhouse was great for any temperature. Great hospitality!

We had such a fabulous time. What a great oasis from the real world. We loved fishing, exploring, making fires, eating s'mores, hiking off the Natchez Trace Parkway and horseback riding nearby. We loved the home. It is beautiful, homey and so cozy. We don't want to leave!

When we pulled in the driveway, we knew we had arrived in country heaven. We loved fishing in the pond, making s'mores at night and telling ghost stories by moonlight. This house is peaceful and cozy

We really enjoyed the wooded setting and all the amenities the house had to offer. Since it was relatively warm outside, we grilled out and had a fire in the outdoor fireplace.

My husband and I stayed here with our then 3 month old baby and had a really lovely stay! The owners really seem to have thought about so many details! Not only were the basics provided (garbage bags, paper towels, laundry soap) it was done so adorably!

We will definitely rent here again!!

Family birthday getaway

We chose the Farmhouse for our stay in the Leipers Fork area. We have stayed in the area before, and wanted something different. We loved the house. We went to Pucketts at night to listen to some live music, the house was convenient for that, as well as hopping on Natchez Trace to go for a scenic drive. Our son was celebrating his 13th birthday there, they had cupcakes waiting on his arrival, which he loved. We enjoyed playing pool, as well as exploring on the property. The house was clean and everything you might need in the kitchen was provided. We would highly recommend this property for a family get away. We enjoyed our time at the Farmhouse in the Fork.
