This updated 2 bedroom, 1 bath cottage is in the center of Dauphin Island Village, less than a block from biking trails and a short walk to the Indian Mound, Goat Tree and Green Parks. Freshly renovated, Sandy Hook has wood floors throughout, a king bed in the Master bedroom, a Queen in the second bedroom, and a double futon in the den. Two flat screen televisions and plenty of room to relax in the living room, den, and large kitchen make the cottage feel like home.

We had a wonderful stay at Sandy Hook Cottage on Dauphin Island. We are a blended family so we also rented the Whale House. It worked out great. Our two families shared the bikes to ride around the island and rented a bike with a carriage to ride our granddaughter around in. Sandy Hook is a very clean, well kept house with a wonderful screened-in porch with a swing and two chairs. A lot of time was spent having fun on the proch. The two bedrooms were spacious and had good closet space and drawer space. The dining room was perfect for our blended family and the den was great to nap in for my granddaughter. The two houses were great for our blended family since they are located next to each other. We biked to the beach, Fort Morgan, Pelican Pub, The Cove(for souveniers) The Mounds and to the Bird Sanctuary. It is a great place to stay and a Great Family Island.Robert(the landlord) was helpful from the booking till the last day. It was a pleasure to stay there and that is where we will stay when we go back. Thanks Robert

I recommend this lovely cottage to anyone wanting to stay on Dauphin Island that doesn't want to be right on the beach.( It's a small island so the beach is just around the corner any where you may turn)
We had 3 families stay next to each other since the Whale House is just next door. Perfect for blended families such as we had. Sandy Hook was perfect with our 2 bedroom and den accomadations. We shared the bicycles from the Whale house, we rented a bike with a toddler carriage and rode to the public beach area, Fort Morgan, Pelican Pub, and the store. The Bakery behind us had wonderful pastries and food. We ate a fine dinner at the Islander restaurant and bought our souveniers at The Cove on Bienville Blvd. Ship and Shore was a great store to purchase our food and it had everything. Excellent Seafood at Pelican Reef before you get to the Island.
Now back to our cottage. Excellent!!! clean, spacious, screened front porch with a swing, dining room perfect for our family,bedrooms clean and good closet space and drawers, bathroom clean with good amount of linens, nice to have the laundry room too. My 4 yr old grandaughter took her naps in the den while watching TV away from the rest of the family. I totally recommend this cottage and the Whale House to everyone wanting a nice quiet area to stay. Robert, the owner was just so nice and helpful from booking, to greeting, to having to leave. Only unfortunate thing that happened was the Ferry broke down and we couldn't make it to the mainland to do our dolphin cruise. We'll do that next time when we go back to stay at the Sandy Hook cottage.

Excellent property conveniently located just a couple of blocks from the only grocery store on the island. One floor level which is ideal for those of us who have difiiculty with stairs. Extremely clean. Well decorated. Kitchen is well equipped, but those who do serious cooking may need to bring any specialty tools they might need, but all the basics are provided. Property next door is owned by the same people but this is the better of the two, having stayed there twice before. I have reserved it for two additional periods next year, one in the spring and the other in the fall. I have met the owners and find them especially congenial and receptive. The floor plan is convenient, with a large screened in front porch entering into a living and dining area, both separate and large, with two bedrooms coming off the entry way (front - queen), and the second off the dining area, with a large kitchen, single full bath (good shower), and then a smaller 'den' with TV, opening onto a small back porch. Ideal for two couples, could probably accomodate six oersons comfortably, but then one bathroom offers some restrictions. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there and plan to return, as indicated. The owners were readialy available, both when in town and even when in Houston, TX, responding quickly to questions about the wifi. I had the extreme good fortune to meet and socialize with them.
