Esterillos Este, Costa Rica
A stunning, luxury villa with an elegant, livable design for up to eight people on the most beautiful stretch of Costa Rica’s Pacific central coast.
This home was designed and built in 2008 by Meichelle and Jeff as a family retreat to get away from it all and spend quality time with each other, their children and grandchildren. Large windows in the spacious villa take advantage of the stunning ocean and jungle vista, including the view from the sunken tub in the master bath. The panoramic view from the hammock on the third story terrace and the outdoor dining area under the poolside palapa is a constant reminder that you’re not on any ordinary vacation. The steady ocean breeze on this hillside location lets you know that this tropical trip is special, that this comfortable, secure home is the foundation for discovering the best Costa Rica has to offer.
Meichelle and Jeff would like to share their home with other families or groups that seek an exceptional vacation experience. Whether for a single family, couples wanting more than a vanilla hotel experience by pooling their resources for a comfortable home, or serious surf buddies seeking the best waves in Central America, they want their guests to experience what they already know–there is no better place to experience both the tranquility and relaxation of a tropical vacation AND the activities that outdoor enthusiasts crave. From world class surfing, river rafting and zip lines to family friendly eco tours through nearby Manual Antonio nature preserve, horseback riding on the local beach or jungle, or just playing in the surf and sand all day at the nearby beach, this home and premiere location has it all.
This spacious villa has everything you need for a week in paradise. It’s located in a gated development with security for your peace of mind. Within the Del Pacifico development there is beach access for guests to the newly refurbished Alma del Pacifo beach club. You may be tempted to stay at this beach all week long, especially with it’s excellent surfing. But just 15-30 minutes in both directions are even more of the best surfing beaches in the world. And just a short drive south is the world famous Manual Antonio nature preserve with awe inspiring waterfalls and wildlife.
Although most of your day will likely be spent outdoors, the villa’s roomy central living area with cool, stone floors is an inviting space to spend time with family and friends. Eventually, everything leads to the kitchen, and in this case, a gourmet space where any self-appointed chef will find a well equipped kitchen ready for your creative cooking. Just pick up some groceries from the local store and you’re in business. If you’d rather spend your time exploring the rain forest than cooking for your group, your own personal concierge that manages the property locally can arrange for a chef to cook up Costa Rican specialties for a dinner party, or to take care of all of your meals for an entire week.
In fact, your concierge is just a phone call away on the house-supplied cell phone. She can answer any questions about the property and to help you with airport transfer, rental cars, or just a recommendation for a good place to eat.
In this part of the development we only get dial up internet which is only suitable for email, but two minutes down the hill high-speed internet is available at the Info Office or at the Alma del Pacifico beach club, available to all guests. We choose not to have a television in the home – we find it brings us closer together during our vacations – but there is a dock for your iPod so bring your device with pre-loaded vacation music and dock it in the provided stereo for entertainment.
There are four bedrooms in all – two master bedrooms, one with a king size bed and one with a queen, both with en suite bathrooms. Two additional bedrooms, one with a queen and one with two roomy doubles, are connected with a shared bathroom. The villa sleeps 8 very comfortably where everyone has room to come together in the open living area and kitchen or retreat to your bedroom for an air-conditioned siesta. There are 3 full baths and 2 half baths including the convenient half bath on the third floor terrace.
Have breakfast pool side under the palapa as the morning light illuminates the floral forest around you and the song birds ring in a new day. Take a dip in the pool and contemplate the horizon line of the ocean below. It’s a reminder that the day’s activities are limitless–water sports, deep sea fishing, waterfall repelling, beach combing – or maybe just laying on the beach or poolside and finishing that great book you started on the plane.
Kids going through towels at the beach and in the pool? Getting your khaki shorts dirty ziplining through the rainforest? There is a washer and dryer for your use. Pack less for your trip and wash what you need as you go.
For dinner, pick up some steaks and cook them on the outdoor grill and dine under the gazebo poolside. Nothing like the smell of barbeque to end the perfect day. Relax in the jacuzzi as night falls and the jungle around you comes to life.
The upper terrace is a great place to swing in the hammock and sip an ice tea after a long day sliding down waterfalls, or to sneak away from the kids for a sunset cocktail. Maybe you’ll catch a glimpse of Iggy the iguana, or the iconic toucan on a nearby branch, or the colorful flock of parakeets whose communal song sings like a happy jungle choir. One thing is certain, your Costa Rica experience in this perfect getaway will stay with you long after you return home.
