Very disappointed in this property. Poor standards
Filthy. Carpets, bathroom tiles, patio furniture. Filthy. No screened porch as sited in description. No lights in master bedroom. None. Television may or may not have worked. Very few kitchen cooking pieces. Some fans/cooling units in boxes in closets in some rooms; it was hot but we didn't bother to take them out since it would have become a major project. Light bulbs out in whole house when we arrived and no new ones.
Maine is expensive in August but this was not worth what we paid for the week at this property.
Great location at nice resort. That's why we selected it. The photos and description made it sound very nice. It isn't. Needs major work: new carpeting, lighting, furniture either cleaned or replaced.
Lots of paper towels, toilet paper, garbage bags, spices and laundry detergent were there. It didn't say this anywhere though so we shopped and purchased most of these things and brought them with us.
The owner and rental agent are very nice but that doesn't fix all the above problems.
Lots of outstanding restaurants in the area. World class! Primo, La Bella Vita, Natalie's, The Hartstone Inn (my favorite but they were all great).
Golf was good at both the Samoset and at nearby local course, Rockland Golf.
Owner's Response: This review does not reflect the excellent condition of this property.
The carpets in the home were professionally cleaned before the rental season and are maintained before and after every client visit by our professional cleaning service. Outdoor furniture was new in 2012 and have been well maintained. The reviewer expected a screened porch, however our description clearly states that the home has an open porch area.
The kitchen is very well equipped with Kitchenaid cookware, Heckel knives, and many small appliances. The entertainment area includes a new in 2012 SONY Bravia LCD TV that has an exceptional picture. The instructions for the unit are available and the owner was available to assist the guest. No other guest reported any issue in turning on the television.
The guest is provides with fans for every room, but as the Maine coast can be quite cool even in the summer, guests are expected to use them as needed.
This home was new to the rental market in 2012 and has been updated by the current owners with new major appliances, furniture, and bedding. Additional lighting at the bedside has been provided. It is scheduled to receive additional upgrades on a continual basis.
