We are a group of moms/teachers who take an annual getaway weekend. We enjoyed this house very much. Driving in, we felt a little concerned as we passed some unkempt properties and the house is very close to neighboring homes. However, once inside and on the deck, it is well-designed to make you feel like you are in a private place. The floor to ceiling windows in the main room give a sweeping view of the lake and fill the room with sunlight - very cheery in the daytime. We loved the deck with its porch swing and rocking chairs - great for quiet morning reading/devotionals and sunset dinners. The kitchen area is wonderful, very updated, with a 2nd sink, and the large granite counter has a unique, curved design that allows you to all be seated and still see each other over dinner. We appreciated that items such as handsoap, dishsoap and paper goods were supplied - less to pack. The owners were very responsive. The home is accurately pictured and very clean. We did notice a slight musty odor when we first entered, but that quickly dissipated when we turned on the air. You do need to drive a bit to get to shops/restaurants, but there are many options within an hour or less and it is well worth the quiet and the lake view.

Thank you so much for the use of your home for our family vacation. I was nervous as we had always stayed in hotels and had never rented a place from someone on line before. You were so helpful and informative before our trip and patient with all of my questions about the area. When we arrived on Thursday the home was exactly what the pictures reflected and so much more. I left Houston feeling the stress of work and daily life but the minute I stepped out on the back porch every bit of the stress melted away. The view was absolutely amazing. My family along with a few of their friends had an absolute wonderful time. The house was the perfect size to fit the 8 of us very comfortably. You guys have absolutely thought of everything to help make the house feel warm and inviting and liveable. The stay here was better than any hotel stay we have ever had. Our kids enjoyed walking down to the water and fishing or swimming off of the rocks. The marina was just down the road and we were able to rent a Pontoon boat from Cranes Marina for the day. We loved feeding the deer and I would have to say they are as spoiled as my own pets. They definately know when it is brekfast and dinner time. The sunrise was beautiful and at night we were able to enjoy the sunset and the stars in the sky were so clear. It was the most beautiful sight I think I have ever seen. The house is a convenient location to local shopping but far enough out to not be in the hussle and bussle resort areas are known for. Our family is already looking forward to our next trip. I plan on telling anyone I know who is looking for a get away about your place. Thank you again for sharing your wonderful home with us.

Thank you Shirley and Paul for providing this wonderful lakehouse for rent and for all of your help, patience and kindness. It is more beautiful than pictures show. The house is so updated, beautifully decorated and yet so homey and comfortable. All beds were very comfortable..The scenery is beyond words.. so beautiful and loved having several views from the house to the lake; sunrise and sunsets there are so exquisite .. takes your breath away. The updated kitchen was fabulous and loved having a tv in the kitchen also.
Best thing for me, as an animal lover is the deer that come up every day, often, to be fed; they are very spoiled; thank you for providing all the corn for feeding.. Using lots of patience, I even managed to have one eat out of my hand; for me that was extra special. Several nights, a new critter arrived, a little fox... we didn't get too close, just threw it food, but it came back several times. I could go on and on.. but this pretty much covers it all. We will definately be back as soon as we can.

Reviews from previous ‘temporary tenants’ is what made me take a look at this vacation home. The owner’s immediate and consistent responses to my questions is what sealed the deal for me! In today’s world where it is difficult to believe everything you read online, you have to take a leap of faith when you send your hard-earned money off to someone you’ve never met and then simply trust that everything will work out. That’s exactly what happened in this case—I trusted the owners because they immediately responded to my emails, answered every question I had, and were always kind, courteous, and respectful during our communications. I simply cannot say enough about the wonderful owners of this beautiful home.

Now, about the home itself…well, I think the reviews from the visitors who posted before me have said it all—the home is clean, beautiful, comfortable, begins to feel like home very quickly, and has an AWESOME view of the lake. The deer were an unexpected surprise—yes, they really do come right up to the house to greet you!

I rented this beautiful home with two friends. Each of the three of us are doctoral candidates working on our dissertations. We needed a home with three bedrooms so this home fit the bill perfectly. We found that if we divvied up the costs, the home would cost about the same as a hotel so there was no contest; this home was an easy choice to make. The beautiful kitchen with the large granite countertop was not only a great place for fixing meals but also a wonderful study spot with lots of room for us to spread out with our laptops, books, and notebooks. The home’s wireless network made getting on the internet and doing whatever research we needed to do as easy as being in our own homes. The beds are comfy! The home has two bathrooms, which was great for three women getting ready in the morning. The home even has a washer and dryer! The oversized couch and the FANTASTIC flat screen in the living room made our movie watching experience unforgettable—we oohed and aahed at how clear the tv was! The circle driveway provided more than enough room for two cars. The home simply has everything you need for as few as three or a large group.

We loved staying at this home and hope to return again—maybe after we finish our doctorates!!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. When we walked in the front door, we were so surprised to see such a beautiful view of the lake. The location of the home is excellent. Very close to outlet shopping, zoo's and caverns. The open floor plan works well for a large group of people. The kitchen can accommodate several cooks at the same time. Beautiful cabinets and granite countertops. The outside deck is very large with plenty of chairs and a porch swing. Feeding the deer was one of the highlights of our trip. We never imagined so many deer, especially the babies. Several ate right from our palms. It was nice to have so many TV's. The satellite was great and the Internet worked fine. We had plenty of linens and extra blankets. We had a wonderful time and would love to vacation in the summer time. Overall we were very happy with the place. The house itself is very nice with a great kitchen area. The view from the porch was a pleasant surprise - since it isn't pictured, I wasn't expecting such a good, unobstructed lake view. Unfortunately, the Internet was out during our stay, which was a huge inconvenience for us (we had crossed many places off our list for lack of internet). The owners did their best to be accommodating, but it was still a pretty major problem. Otherwise we had no complaints at all, and there was talk of going back next year.

We had a wonderful time during our vacation! The house was amazing, comfortable, and came with spectacular views! It was by far the most relaxing week we have ever had on vacation. The house was quite, full of amenities, and fun! We baked cookies, had tea and coffee, and just enjoyed the scenery. My favorite part was feeding the deer and my husband enjoyed the swing on the back porch! If you want to just be and relax, this is the place for you!

If you pass on this property, you will be sorely disappointed. This was an outstanding vacation spot. Our time began with leaving Fort Worth bound for Lake Canyon. Our GPS provided directions and we really needed it once we got into the development. Google Maps wasn't enough. When we arrived, the cleaning crew was just finishing up. I got a glimpse of the inside of the house and new we had made the right choice. We wanted to give the cleaning crew some time to finish up so we scoped out the boat ramps as we brought our boat with us. The first one was closed but we quickly found the next one and were pleased with the location and proximity to the house. We stopped at one of the local grocery stores and picked up supplies and returned to the house. Our son and girlfriend were one their way. We got to the house and went inside. All was as Paul and Shirley had indicated. The key was in the lockbox and the combination actually worked. We have been to rentals and the combination hasn't always worked. As we walked in both of us expressed surprise with how spacious the property was and how cute the inside was furnished. You walk in the front door and see all the way through the house to the large back windows. The shades were drawn but I quickly opened them up to a gorgeous view of Lake Canyon. After a quick scouting of the house and unloading of luggage and supplies, we walked out on the back deck. And what a deck it was. Wonderful views!!!!! Large stairway leading down to the water was the first thing we say and we had to explore. The stairs led straight to the rocks and waterfront. The water was soooo clear and clean. My son showed up and came out immediately. After seeing the lake, they retreated to the house and put their swimsuits on and headed for the lake.

Corn was found in a bin just inside the door and I knew that there must be deer. Little did I know how many deer. I filled the container with corn and shook it. In only a few minutes, we had 15 deer (buck, doe and fawns) under the deck waiting for corn. I think we had more fun feeding the deer than anything. We had such a good time and I really think the reason was the immaculate property we were staying in. This could be a permanent home. We will certainly be back and I know that if you stay here, you will feel the same way!
