As advertised, we stepped into The Lodge at Ivy Acres as if the online pictures had come to life. Clean, well equipped lodging presented by Debbie & Chuck Hill met and exceeded expectations for our family of 8 (7 adults, 1 baby) as we celebrated a family wedding in the Piedmont-Greenville, SC area over 4 days/3nights Convenient to highway systems, grocery store, and eateries. Relaxed in the hot tub, walked the wooded hiking trails and open fields and roadways, caught crickets, grasshoppers and small frogs to use for fishing in the pond and river, paddle boated around the pond, and re-connected with our family in the spacious lower level kitchen, den, eating area. Plush towels, soaps, and snacks greeted our family. The unseasonal extreme heat kept us off the tiered decking until sundown, yet we were able to sit and unwind outside and take in the silence and wildlife. Any questions we had were promptly responded to by the owner, Debbie, with a smile and a great southern drawl, making us feel special and like old friends. She was eager to share the heritage of their farm and RV park and the wonders of their life as they grew into the current Ivy Acres. In fact, the owners continued to work hard during the heat of the day to clear trees and limbs for new lodgers and ensure their mobile vehicles were not threatened. Did not miss having a house phone, as our Verizon cell phone coverage was 5 bars during our entire stay. Internet access allowed us to keep in touch with the outside world, as needed, and the oversized screen television provided a great perspective on the US Open Tennis tournament. Only thing our children missed was an outdoor swimming pool in which to cool off after a day outside in the 90-100 degree weather. We're already planning another visit, even without a wedding invitation. Encourage you to come down and enjoy the feel of SC and the Piedmont-Greenville area, as Greenville offers a wonderful downtown area with a Saturday farmer's market, busy night life and a wonderful place to visit with family and friends.
