Decent Rental - Poor Service
The rental itself is nice, offering two large bedrooms with 2 twins in one and a King bed in the other. Twin bunks are located in the hallway. Although a street separates the unit from the ocean, it is high enough to still get a nice view. A nice heated pool and hot tub compliment the rental well. Since the rental faces the ocean and is located on the top level, I would say it was probably one of the nicest in the building. A nice surprise was finding some beach chairs to use at the beach located on the back porch.
Our experience with the owner (manager) was not good. From the very beginning, after driving for 6 hours, we arrived, exhausted. The entry code we were given to open the door did not work and we could not get in. I tried over and over, step by step - nothing! I called the owners cell phone with no answer and left multiple messages. This vacation was for my in-laws who are in their 70s, and we began by having to wait for in the Florida sun with all our food, no place to sit, wondering IF we had a place to stay. I started calling other rentals (most were closed for the day) desperately trying to find a place to sleep because I didn't think anyone would get back with us! The owner FINALLY calls and implied it was my fault we waited 1.5hrs because I called her while she was at work, and she was busy. No apology, nothing. I was livid.
Next, the Internet. I picked this unit because it said it has WIFI and I need it for work. I brought my own router because its already configured to my devices and I don't have to mess with trying the login process. But there is no place to plug in my router. No cable, modem/router, nothing. The only WIFI network was one you need to pay for. After turning the unit upside down we finally find the login. It works for 15 min and kicks you off and wont let you log in again. IT WAS WORTHLESS!!! The owner told me to deal with it by going somewhere else that has WIFI! I ended up spending everyday on hold with the WIFI company technicians. WARNING: It only allows 3 devices on it, there's NO SIGNAL, and when you get kicked off you need to call and have it reset.
The cooking pans were disgusting. The cast iron was rusty and the non-stick finishes were coming off into the food(I have Pics). At this point I just wanted to go home!
The owners are trying to manage the rental from out-of-state so they are powerless to fix anything and came across with a poor attitude/communication.
Owner's Response: I regret that this guest had an unpleasant experience in our condo. I pride myself in the care I take in assuring that our guests have the best possible stay. Occasionally our guests will suggest things that would improve their stay, I welcome these suggestions and act quickly to improve the condition. The guest's difficulty with the Wi-fi was beyond my control as the internet is controlled by Gulf Place. The entire complex was having difficulties. The property manager, as well as our maintenance representative were both summoned to help with the inefficiencies that the guest experienced and tried to assist to the best of their abilities, as did I. I am easily accessible to my guests at all times, and at their service throughout their stay. We have enhanced our kitchen supplies and are always looking for better ways to improve on our service. I appreciate the opportunity I had to speak with this guest personally about his review, and have acted on his suggestions.
