Photos and Description of the Curacao vacation townhome rental
1 Bedroom, 2 Bathrooms, sleeps 4

Our townhome in this gated, quiet, very private resort is true oceanfront (about 20 paces from the sea) with unobstructed views to the ocean and sunsets. Stroll from your lanai, past palm trees, bougainvilleas, the pool and palapas down to the sea - a private access from which to dive, snorkel or swim. The luxury of walking a few hundred feet to calm, crystal clear water of this quality can't be overstated. A fabulous reef and sealife are right here.

We enjoy consistent, unblocked breezes and never hear neighbors, dogs or traffic. All windows and doors are screened - allowing you to keep out the uninvited [mosquitos/geckos], without closing off the cooling winds. Our kitchen is very well equipped. There is A/C on both levels, hot water in the kitchen and both showers, fans, full size refrig+more. The bedroom has an ensuite bath, a comfy king size bed, and a view overlooking the sea. Everything you'll need to relax, unwind, and enjoy - the views, the sun, the water, your vacation

There is a lot to see and do on Curacao. You'll find that most of the development - the resorts, the homes, hotels, shops/businesses, traffic, and people are concentrated in and around the bustling, multi-cultural city of Willemstad. The city and old Dutch harbor area are worthy of a site-seeing trip, but you'll be glad to be returning to the quiet of the west end and your townhome.

GET AWAY - Come to the west end of Curacao if you are looking for the relatively 'undiscovered', undeveloped and uncrowded part of the island - where traffic, crowds, and congestion aren't available. What this area does have is beautiful, tranquil beaches, calm, protected seas with fabulous sea life, and a healthy reef system right off shore.

The water here is calm, crystal-clear, and warm. Our resort has private sea access that is never crowded. There is great snorkeling and diving just steps from your patio door - with 2 full service dive shops very close by. For variety, there are many great shore dive/snorkeling sites and five of Curacao's most pristine, uncrowded beaches within 5 minutes. Their is a sand beach an easy 300 yard swim or walk away. Two beautiful national parks and great restaurants [including 2 of the island's highest rated] are also less than 5 minutes away.

The resort is gated, private, quiet, uncrowded, and safe - with friendly and helpful on-site managers to assist you. There is secure off street parking, a beautiful pool and tropical landscaping.

The Unique Benefits of this Townhome:

Our screened patio doors [a small but important amenity that we guarantee you'll appreciate], front door and windows will maximize the cooling breezes while keeping out occasional mosquitoes and colorful geckos.

There are separate air conditioning units for the bedroom and the main level. You'll appreciate the custom blinds, full size refrig, and hot water at the showers and kitchen sink - small amenities that will make your stay more enjoyable.

You are sure to enjoy the fabulous view of the sea and sunsets from the bedroom and its adjoining deck, along with the bedroom's private bath, air conditioning, and the comfortable, king size bed w/memory foam pad.

You'll make good use of our patio furniture on both decks, the portable grill, the beach chairs, beach towels, portable coolers and fans - and you'll find that our kitchen is well equipped with quality cookware and utensils. The Wi-Fi connection, Direct TV, new LCD, and DVD player may be valuable if the quiet becomes unbearable.

If there are more than 2 guests in your party, there are comfortable accomodations on the main level, including another bath complete with shower, and a separate AC unit.

Anyone staying here will appreciate our location - wonderfully landscaped with colorful flowers and coconut palms and incredibly convenient to great swimming, snorkeling and diving in crystal clear, calm water. The location of our townhome on the resort is such that no buildings obstruct the sea breezes [which cool the townhome], and we are far enough from the resort's neighbors that we never hear dogs or traffic. The true ocean-front setting - just 20 paces from the ocean - offers an unobstructed view of the sea and our often breathtaking sunsets. There are games, books, artwork, and many other custom touches and small amenities that will remind you of home.

Marazul is not a catored, room service style resort/hotel - but it is a safe and quiet sanctuary incredibly convenient to the best beaches and natural beauty on the island.

Our townhome has no private infinity pool - but it is comfortable, clean, thoughtfully furnished, and very well equipped - in a truly spectacular location. You will find everything you need here to have a relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable island vacation.

We think you'll agree that it's more than a rental - it's a home that you are invited to share.

About Steve and Linda Pitt

We are a 'semi'-retired couple who live most of the year in the Colorado mountains near the ski resort of Crested Butte. We have visited many of the Caribbean islands over the past 25 years looking for a place with great water/weather/people for a vacation home. We fell in love with the west end of Curacao, and Marazul in particular. The contrasts between the high altitude alpine setting of Crested Butte and the spectacular low latitude waters/scenery/weather of 'our' end of Curacao have been everything we hoped they would be.

Steve and Linda Pitt purchased this townhome in 2010
Why Steve and Linda Pitt chose Curacao

We chose this [Westpunt] part of the island because it is much less developed, has far fewer people and cars, with calmer seas, and better diving and snorkeling than any other location on the island. The best of the island's natural beauty is found on this end of the island - including 2 beautiful national parks. All of our guests have agree that the accomodation of driving a bit further to shop is a worthwhile trade off. We also felt that the cooling trade winds were more consistent and less obstructed here than in many other areas we visited. The fresh water pool and beautifully landscaped grounds of the resort are clean and well maintained. The resort is very private, quiet, gated, with great ocean access and plenty of secure, off-street parking......and is never crowded.

My wife and I stayed a week and just got back 2 days ago and had a great time. The info we received prior to arriving by Linda and Steve was immensely helpful and spot on. All their recommendations made our stay almost perfect. The snorkeling was world class and was right out the front door. The water in front of the condo was warm and always calm with thousands of fish and we even saw turtles. 5 to 10 mins. away were multiple beaches to snorkel or hang out. The condo was very comfortable and quiet. Friendly people on the island and pretty good food @ all the restaurants. We only visited the city one day and that was enough as we couldn't wait to get back to "our" side of the island. Highly recommended.....Thanks, Linda and Steve

We are frequent visitors to Curacao and wanted to stay in someplace that we would be able to cook our own meals and have easy access to the ocean, diving and beaches. Marazul was the right fit and the longer we stayed the more relaxed we became and really enjoyed hours at the pool. It was so quiet and the soft breeze is always welcomed. Everything we needed was provided from beach chairs to coolers, bags to take to the grocery store, bbq grill ect. Everyone was very friendly and we met people from all over the world. Steve and Linda were there the same time we were so we really enjoyed their company.

My husband and I spent a week at one of Linda and Steve's townhomes, and it was everything we were hoping for and more. The townhouse itself was more than comfortable...but we found we were in it very little. The little patio is exquisite for nightly sunsets, coffee and breakfast in the mornings and quiet drinks after dinner. It became a toss up as to what patio we should sit at...because in this wonderful townhouse, you get the choice of two of them. The upstairs patio also has a great drying rack for all of your wet items.

We went to the local market by the airport for groceries when we got in and had everything we needed to have breakfasts and lunches at the villa. There are an abundance of beaches for great snorkelling and diving but some of hte best was right outside our location. The townhouses are on a cliff that looks down into the water which you access from stairs and ladders which I did not find difficult to maneuver around. The cliffs have an abundance of sea life and if you follow the cliffs to the fishing boats, you will see turtles, eels and a ton of various fish. If you are a good swimmer, in decent shape and like to snorkel, it is some great snorkelling and fun. The water is the clearest I have seen in the Caribbean and was just the right temperature.

The pool at Marazul is not huge but it was such a great relief from the sun and you wanted to get away from the salt water and just want to relax. We met several wonderful people while there and were going out for dinner with people from all over the world by the time we left. It was such fun.

As for Westpunt, it will appear as though you are going into the boonies and seriously made a mistake when booking so far away but before you know it, you will find Westpunt and see why it is such a great secret. We ate at Landhuis Misje, Sol Food, Karakter Restaurant and Rancho El Sobrino and they were all awesome but the first three were our favorites. You will need a GPS to get to Karakter as it is a bit hard to find but if you go early, a drink at sunset is quite special.

Williamstad is worth going to for the day but you will love that you get to come back to Westpunt. Linda and Steve are the best hosts around and we had the pleasure of spending an evening at Karakter with them and they are as wonderful in person. You will not regret renting from them and you will know all you need to to have a fantastic time in Curacao. We also felt very safe at Marazul.

relax beachtime

My wife and I were there for a week. She likes the beach and I like to snorkel so we were both happy. We went to 12 different beaches during our stay and they range from small deserted pocket beaches to full-service beaches with lounge chairs etc.the property is located on the far North West corner of the island which is quite undeveloped. There is a great restaurant there run by ex-patss called sol foodsbut unfortunately it is only open from Friday through Sunday. The property description is accurate and the property is very well maintained. It's a great place to stay for a beach vacation. We were lucky enough to be there when Steve and Linda were there in their other unit. They were a great source of information and great tips about how to see the island attractions and they are delightful people. I would recommend this property to people who do not want to be in the big city and prefer a more remote location. Curacao is an interesting place and worthy of another visit. Chris key.

My wife and I  have been back home now for a few weeks and have had time to process our experience in Curacao. Let me  summarize our experience:
Steve and Linda were the perfect hosts and with the detailed information they provided in advance we felt quite prepared for our trip.
Steve and Linda’s townhouse we found well-located, very comfortable and well-stocked. We slept very well in the king-size bed. We never used the downstairs AC,. That was not needed with the windows and doors open providing a delightful blow-through breeze.
MDR we found very comfortable and peaceful, and safe. People in general were very friendly. The 2 German office guys were helpful,
We visited all local beaches and found playa Cas Abou the best and Grote Knip (Playa Abou) the next best. We did a limited amount of snorkeling and we need to do more of that next time. The area of Westpunt we really enjoyed for is country-like feeling.
Two suggestions: GPS is an absolute “must have“, as we were told when you rent a car. . No question. We did a swim with the dolphins and my wife and I loved that!
The best recommendation: We will return early next year and we have already booked our next

We rented this unit for 3 weeks and enjoyed every day of our stay. Our experience was so restful and the views spectacular. The owners were very helpful in making our stay comfortable. My husband is a snorkler, so he found the area very beautiful for this sport. I loved the pool area with the view of the carribean. The unit was so well decorated and stocked with all that we needed to cook and relax. The screened in windows were so nice as the breezes flowed through without the bugs with it. We enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend this area to all ages. All that was listed on the owner's explanation of the unit and surroundings was correct, and we would definitely go back.

This was our first visit to Curacao and it surpassed our expectations. Marazul Dive Resort is the perfect place to stay on the island. There is peace and beauty abound. Linda and Steve's place offers everything you need to have an enjoyable vacation. Their comfortable bed was nice for sleeping and their kitchen is well stocked with everything you would need to make a nice meal. One night we grilled fresh fish on the grill they provide and made margaritas using the blender. Many nights we would listen to our favorite island music, Jimmy Buffett, while watching the beautiful sunset from their porch. They have a place by their porch where they feed the birds. It was fun seeing all the different birds come to the feeder. There are many gorgeous beaches to explore minutes away from Marazul. Our two favorites were Cas Abou and Playa Knip. The water is crystal clear and great for snorkeling. It was a fabulous vacation!! Thanks Linda and Steve!!

Peace and Serenity

We couldn't wait to get there and when we did it exceeded our expectations. Talk about peace and serenity, this island jewel is for anyone wishing to escape daily routines and the hustle bustle of life. When we arrived we fell in love with the Resort. Even though Maruzel is in a rural area, distance to fine resturants and world class beaches is 5 to 20 minutes away from this location. Even grocery stores were within driving distance. We found a bakery in Barber on a side road which was wonderful and provided fresh baked goods daily. Sol Food became a part of our weekend eating habits. Sunshine and Dave along with "the boys" who served us made our dining experience fun and enjoyable. They make a fantastic pizza, and we are from NY. Located next door to us you could go down and see the local" catch of the day" to purchase.
We were impressed with all of the modern appliances and aminities, as well as the upkeep of the unit. We were lucky to get to meet Steve and Linda during our stay. We are looking forward to going back next year!
