We (2 adults, 2 young kids) stayed at this place in the summer of 2010 and we couldnt have been happier. The house is about 5-10 minute drive north of St. Joe and is completely sucluded. There are 2 3 houses neighboring this house, but away from that there is no one around. It was very quiet and relaxing. Everyday we would take the short drive into St. Joe for the restaurants, the awesome water park and ice cream!
The house is absolutely beautiful with every finish absolutely top of the line. The floor plan of the main floor is wide open which leads to great entertainment options. We had 2 different families come over for cocktails & dinner and they were both blown away. The house is shockingly large. The huge master bedroom is on the 2nd floor with 2 sets of glass doors with balcony overlooking lake michigan. The master bathroom has 2 different sinks, a large bathtub and very nice shower. There are 2 other bedrooms on the 2nd floor, both good sized and have the same window/balcony overlooking the lake. The first floor has 1 bedroom that is tucked away at the front of the house (our 15 month old slept there). The 3 bedroom basement is a perfect inside place for the kids to play. There is a large playroom with tons of toys. One of the downstairs bedrooms has 2 king sizes beds and could easily fit another 5 kind beds in it. Amazing. The kitchen is very modern with an awesome coffee maker (forget the name, but it is better than starbucks). There is an outside grill for bar b que purposes.
One of the best features is the pool. It isnt the largest of pools but for kids it is absolutely perfect. When we werent at the beach, the kids were in the pool. Lots of toys to play with. There is also a decent size back yard (overlooking the lake) where the kids can run around.
The beach is typical eastern shore lake michigan, very long with soft sand. Our 4 year old loved walking down the beach finding and collecting shells. The only downside to the beach is the long set of stairs it takes to get there. We would need to bring down a fair amount of stuff to make sure we wouldnt have to climb the stairs too many times. But, in the grand scheme of the house, location, quality of accomodations, it is a very small price to pay. We will be booking this place again next year and probably include a couple more families since there is AMPLE room. Hope this helps.
Two last things: there are a couple of GREAT fresh fruit farms 10 minutes away. And there is good golf too!!
