Perfect Getaway Apartment
Submitted: July 3, 2010

I spent two weeks this summer in a pristine, well equipped one bedroom apartment a block from the beach (the pictues on the web site do not do it justice!). The host was amazing, always making sure I had everything I needed from DVDs/Videos to watch on rainy days (I think there was one rainy(ish) day the entire stay), to a fully, and I mean fully, equipped kitchen (not to mention the out door eating area and grill). There is both an indoor and outdoor shower, and laundry facilities as well. This was my first time venturing into the arena of vacation rentals, and am already planning my return to this rental. I so enjoyed riding a bicycle on the boardwalk everyday. Well, almost everyday. I did drive out to the wineries (YUM!) on the North Fork of Long Island, on one day, and spent a day in N.Y.C (caught a Broadway show),on another. Try shopping for Broadway tickets on line ahead of time; are many discount ticket sites on the web. FYI, Buddy's Bicycles, which is a short walk from the rental unit, on Beech Street, gave me a terrific rate on a 2 week bicycle rental. His rental rate could not be beat any where in town!. Just tell him you heard about the shop from the "girl in Texas". Everything is within walking distance to the apartment, including Mollies, where you can buy fresh ocean faire, either cooked or to cook at home. Many bars and restaurants as well. Ate great sushi at Nagahamas, on Park near Long Beach Road; was great (and I'm picky)! JoJo Apples, in Point Lookout was terrific. Ask for Nicole; she's the nicest and most helpful of all the wait staff! She always steered me towards the best dishes. Ate there many times during my stay Again, mention the "girl from Texas". Also enjoyed the Point Lookout Clam Bar. The Beach House, in the West End, was very good as well. And lest we forget the Bagel place and the grocery store located about a block away! Everything was so accessable! Want to catch a bus to town (perhaps to the train station that conveniently takes you right to 34th Street in the great N.Y.C./ Penn Station)? All it takes is $1.50. Train ticket prices vary depending on whether the train you take is during peak/off peak times. Want to catch a taxi to the train station instead? Only $5.50 (plus tip of course), and I suggest West Beech Street Taxi (they're closer and faster). Taxi ride to JFK airport is $35.00, plus an additional $2.00 for the toll (coming back into Long Beach), and again, plus tip. Have a great trip!
