Located in warm, friendly Cape Breton Island, on the scenic and historic Cabot Trail, amid beautiful scenery and situated on one of the finest Atlantic salmon rivers in North America the Salmon Pool Inn caters to the avid fisherman as well as the traveler.

Our location makes it ideal, not only for the perfect fishing vacation, but for sampling the true Cape Breton lifestyle. The crisp, fresh, East Coast air is alive with rich heritage and culture. Spend a day on the golf course or the beach, spend time in the great outdoors, take in a Celtic musical performance, and be sure to experience the ultimate scenic drive; the Cabot Trail.

We offer traditional charm and East Coast hospitality at its finest. The Salmon Pool Inn is the perfect stop for fishing trips with family and friends or for a romantic getaway to see the leaves change along the Cabot Trail. Stay with us at the Salmon Pool Inn and we promise an experience you will never forget.

Golf: If fishing is not your thing, the area is alive with Celtic music with something going on nearly every night all summer long. We are located between 30 and 90 minutes of four golf courses and make a great headquarters for playing the Cape Breton four course package. All the courses are of high quality with the Highland course rated #1 in Canada in 2005. Don't pass up the opportunity to have a very special golf vacation.

Other Activities: The Salmon Pool Inn is also superbly located for trips around Cape Breton, particularly the Cabot Trail. Many of our guests are couples traveling together who make the inn their base for three days of sightseeing without the fuss and bother of changing accommodations every day. Day trips can be relaxed, no rushing or schedules to maintain. You can stay all day, have a nice dinner out, knowing your room is waiting for you.

Oh yes, beaches are numerous and on our side of the Island(west side) they have warm water, that's right, warm water beaches in Cape Breton thanks to the meanderings of the Gulf Stream.

There is also deep sea fishing and whale watching available with locations 10 to 50 minutes away. Guaranteed whale sightings by some operators.

Hiking trails are also numerous, some inside the Highlands National Park, where in addition to spectacular views, moose and other wildlife make regular appearances.

Our family from Ontario met with us here for a mini reunion - what a perfect place. Three bedrooms each with separate en suite bathrooms. Large kitchen with everything you need to cook a perfect meal. Large table in open concept dining room with plenty of chairs in other side to watch TV or read. Many windows all overlooking the beautiful Margaree River with the occasional bald eagle overhead. Great deck with lots of chairs. Spent one day touring the magnicicent Cabot Trail. Best scenery this side of the rockies - an undiscovered gem. Should be on the 10 best places to see - lots of places to stop and take pictures. We started from the town of Baddeck and ended at our lodging. Took the best part of a day. Had a picnic lunch at Ingonish Beach. Next day went whale watching at Pleasant Bay - got to see the highlands again. Saw lots of pilot whales. The last day we went to Louisburg - a reconstructed town of 1800's. Incredible! It helped that we had perfect weather but I do think most people from outside of the maritimes are not aware of how exceptional that scenery is. If you are thinking of touring the martimes don't miss this!!!
