If you're looking for an experience of San Francisco that allows you to feel at home while being a tourist, this rental is for you. Well appointed in every detail, you will enjoy a cozy, welcoming environment. The living space is very comfortable --- great reading chairs and lighting, bay bridge view from the front room, and the kitchen/dining room is suited for cooking and enjoying dinner perched on top of Nob Hill. There is a charming shared garden/courtyard for taking in the outdoors --- made for coffee and conversation. The home is perfectly located for walking in any direction and enjoying the city like a local. We couldn't have asked for more in a home away from home. Awesome and relaxing.
In addition, the owner/host couldn't be more prompt or helpful. The rental process is seamless. Attention to detail makes for a truly wonderful experience and we look forward to returning.

This property located in the Nob Hill area provided our adult family an exceptional San Francisco experience. We parked our car outside the door, found a beautifully appointed and well maintained apartment. The upper apartment provided excellent views, restaurants, cable car, and grocery-convenient- some less than a block away. James-the owner provided us with detailed information regarding various restaurants and recommendations. Additionally, the secluded garden provided a tranquil respite to the bustling city. I look forward to a return visit and would recommend this apartment to the most discriminating traveler.

A gem in San Fransisco

Hi James,
Wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed staying at your Nob Hill home. We will have fond memories of San Fran for years to come and staying there made it even more memorable. After a long day of touring, we looked forward to returning home to have dinner around the kitchen table, talking and and laughing about our days adventures. The beds were super comfortable and you provided more than enough linens to sleep an army :) My girls fell in love with the BIG screen TV and thier cozy bed and many days I had to drag them out.
The neighbourhood was perfect, quiet and safe and close to everthing! Not to mention the asset of having a car spot right at your doorstep!
I have stayed in other VRBO properties and am so impressed with the little things you provide in the apartment, from the detergent to the coffee to the lovely toiletries everything you could want. Things you would normally have to be running around buying before moving in.
From the moment I made contact you provided a wealth of information on the do's and don't of San Fransisco! Very helpful tips on restaurants and points of interest that made life a whole lot easier.
James you truly are a professional when it comes your renting your property and genuinely care that your guest have a great experience in San Fransisco.
I will be back some day and hopefully soon!

This is a spacious, luxurious, and clean penthouse apartment in Nob Hill. The listing description is accurate and the apartment has a beautiful kitchen with lots of supplies available if you want to cook. James, the owner, goes out of his way to provide information about the apartment and the neighborhood, and checks in to ensure the trip is going smoothly. Follow his restaurant tips if you don't want to cook and you will not be disappointed. The parking is right in front of the apartment and groceries and restaurants are in walking distance. Both the street and the apartment stairs are steep - but that is what makes it a true San Francisco experience. We definitely enjoyed our stay and would recommend this apartment to others.

When I first saw it, I knew it was an amazing property with ample parking, a large (for the city) private flower garden, views, and San Francisco charm. Perhaps best of all is the neighborhood - right at the top of historic Nob Hill, one of the most "San Francisco" of neighborhoods - historic and surrounded by the best of San Francisco's tourist areas. So far everyone who has ever stayed in either unit of this property has given it a perfect 5 star rating. No one has ever rated it lower than that. That's 20 perfect reviews upstairs (which I only rent part-time) and 106 reviews downstairs (which is rented more often). I don't think any other property in San Francisco can equal that perfect record of 5 star reviews. Thank you again, and I hope you can return soon. ( :

Nob Hill Penthouse

I had my second wonderful stay at this property recently, and it was as delightful as the first (about 1.5 years prior). The apartment is beautiful and has all of the comforts of home. I had attended a conference for half of my stay at the Moscone Center, which was a very walkable distance. For a similar amount per night (or less) than many of the nicer hotels in the area, you can book this wonderful apartment overlooking the bay. It has a full gourmet kitchen, great dining room and outdoor space, free wireless internet, small but well done bathroom, cozy bedroom, and two living areas (one of which has a pull out couch, I believe). There is a cute market a couple blocks away, Le Beau Market, which has a nice deli, gourmet food, great produce, and a small wine store. There are a couple of nice restaurants in the area as well. James, the owner, does a fabulous job of making your stay perfect, from the very detailed email regarding the property, things to do, restaurants, etc., to the occasional check in email to make sure everything is going smoothly. I think this is definitely a great option above and beyond staying in a hotel in the area, and is accommodating for a couple or a small family, or just a solo traveler as well. If you are disabled, there is a steep set of stairs to get to the front door, plus a winding staircase up to the penthouse, as well as a claw foot tub that can be tricky to get in and out of, so probably not the best option for those with any physical ailments.

Great Stay at a Great SF Home!

We (a mom and two teenage girls!) had a wonderful girls' week in San Francisco staying at this Nob Hill gem! The flat was simply great -- it was clean, well maintained, comfy, and spacious. The kitchen was great to use, with groceries within walking distance (due to a snafu with a rental car, we spent our week walking and using public transportation - the location was super for this and we were able to get anywhere we wanted in the city. We did a lot of exploring nearby, and found fun eateries. And we did lots of cable car riding with our 7 day MUNI pass!) The street was pretty quiet ...nice and residential. We loved the view of the Bay Bridge and Transamerica Pyramid from the front window. The garden area was delightful too! The owner was in contact with us, checking in to make sure everything was okay. His extensive guide to the city (overall) and neighborhood was very, very helpful too. Really, we couldn't have asked for a better place or better location!

We loved this garden apartment! The location was walking distance to majority of site seeing spots . The view was breath taking just outside the door. Unit was clean, quite roomy and accommodated our family of five easily. Parking spot right outside the unit is a plus! Owner had great recommendations for restaurants, tours , nightlife etc all in a binder in the unit. I would highly recommend this unit.

Exquisite apartment in Nob Hill

We spent 3 nights in this beautifully furnished and decorated apartment in Nob Hill and enjoyed every minute. The apartment is centrally located and it's fairly easy to walk to all the important sights in SF, like China Town, Union Square, Fisherman's Warf , Coit Tower etc. Also, James gave us a lot of valuable tips on good restaurants, where to go and what to see , which was greatly appreciated !

The Place to Stay - Without a Doubt!

So my first real visit to San Francisco, my husband took me to Nob Hill and we stayed at the Mark Hopkins. Our second trip, we stayed at the St. Francis. So when it was time to take our 20 year-old daughter and her boyfriend for her first time, I thought where can we go? I didn’t want to stay at a hotel in two separate rooms and have to eat out every meal of the day, but I wanted that same experience. Well . . . this was it!
James has created an outstanding, exquisite place to stay in Nob Hill. It is beautiful. We couldn’t have asked for anything better. The location was outstanding, being so close to everything we wanted to do or see, including the Chinese New Year’s parade. It was only three short blocks from the apartment. It was an added bonus to our trip. (You really have to get down there and experience it James.)
The apartment itself was beautifully furnished, decorated and stocked with everything you could possibly imagine, including organic shampoos, specialty soaps, spices, coffees, coffee grinder, teas, etc. I was impressed and pleased with the extreme detail. I have experienced quite a few VRBO homes, but this definitely stands out as one of the best. In fact, this is the first time I was compelled to write a review, as it is so deserving.
So . . . thank you James for your hospitality, your insight, your shared experiences, and your love for the apartment you share to those lucky enough to find it.
We will return someday . . no doubt.
