Beware of dishonest owner!!

Overall, many aspects with this rental disappointed us.
First, the description does not fit the house. This is not a new property; the place had signs of aging. When we arrived, they were wasted food in the fridge, the cabinets were full and there was no place to store our groceries: we had to leave it on the counter all week. Moreover, they were no blinds or curtains on any window, locks on the back door and on the door in the master bedroom weren’t functional so we had to use the front door all week. At one point, the owner came to fix one of the locks, but we had to clean after him because he left the place filthy and his tools lying around.
The owner definitely did not provide a good customer service. In fact, and most importantly, we were never able to get our security deposit back. We tried for weeks to get a hold of his and talk this out, he was hard to reach and found fake excuses not to give the deposit back.
Its a shame because it's a lovely and charming town, but when we think about our global experience with this cottage, we can’t help but feel angry, fooled by the owner and let down by HomeAway.
