My girlfriend and I just returned from a week-long vacation in Positano, Italy. Choosing to stay away from the "hustle and bustle" of Positano centro, we chose to stay atop the hill in Montepertuso at La Tagliata. We made the right choice. Quiet, charming, with beautiful views, among the "people" of Positano and Montepertuso.

Giorgia runs the rental portion of the business at La Tagliata and is incredible in every way. From the constant, clear contact during the planning stages of our trip to her attentiveness during our stay, our experience was amazing. Conversing through email, Skype and instant message, we confirmed our stay at la Limonella about 4 weeks prior to our trip. Note: this establishment works on a cash only basis (both room and restaurant). Do not let this be a deterrent. You can trust Giorgia and her family entirely. They are completely trustworthy and are looking out for you at all times, and want for you to have the most enjoyable experience while in their care. They not only succeed, they exceed.

Giorgia also arranged for a private driver from/to Naples airport, a private driver for us for a day trip to Pompeii and also had many other suggestions which made our trip to the Amalfi coast an incredible one.

La Limonella... A small, quaint room (one queen-sized bed and adjoining bathroom), it was clean and perfect. Open the two, large wooden doors and allow the glass partition doors to provide for you an incredible view of the terrace and the sea. You can also cook on the terrace using the providing grill AND the vegetables from the garden on site.

In addition, towels and a hair dryer are provided. There is a very small refrigerator in the room and a small closet. A television hangs in the corner and wi-fi is available in the room, which was very useful. During the 7 nights we were at La Limonella, our towels and sheets were changed twice, and the room cleaned at the same time.

Our first (huge) meal at La Tagliata was included in our price, as was a terrific daily breakfast of homemade sweets, cheese, meats and cappuccino. The food and atmosphere were only surpassed by the service and the lovely welcoming members of the La Tagliata family (Papa, Mama, Pepe, Giorgia, Vincenzo, Antonetta and the rest of the staff).

If you are looking to experience this region at it's finest of food and hospitality, this is the place. We can't wait to return.

Views were unforgettable! Looking out over the "Med"our location-near an outstanding restaurant owned by this incredible Italian family-made our week perfect!! A very fine welcome in paradise!!

The Amalfi Coast, beautiful weather, celebating our anniversary and my birthday in Italy...all these things could make a vacation perfect. But it was the property and the family (Mamma Dora, Papa Luigi, children Enzo, Guiseppe, Antonetta and Uncle Salvatore) that made this a vacation unlike any other. For two weeks we enjoyed an impecably clean, exquistely appointed room, spectacular views and the most delicious food imaginable. We were treated just like family, with attention paid to every detail to make our stay comfortable. Anything we could want was made available to us...bus schedules, arrangements for private tours, car and scooter rentals. Giorga was so helpful and kind. We travelled with my daughter and 15 month old grandson. He was given fresh milk for his bottles and special food that he could eat. Everyone made sure we we comfortable and happy, without ever being intrusive. This is a busy working orgainc farm and restaurant, but we always had our privacy. But again, I must rave about the food. Travelling with a husband who is a retired chef can be difficult, as he can be very critical. Not at La Tagliata!!!! He was continually amazed and impressed by the presentation, the quality, the variety, not to mention the amount of food. We never went hungry or wanted for anything. We have told all our friends about this wonderful experience. We plan to return ourselves, knowing we will have a perfect vacation!!!

La Limonella is located below the restaurant. What's so nice is that the property has fresh vegetables growing and even have an area with livestock. They allow you to walk the property and help yourself to any vegetables you might want. You will truly feel like part of this Italian family once you stay here. Mama, Papa, Giorgia, Pepino, Vincenzo and antoinetta. Giorgia was wonderful to work with prior to our arrival. Antoinetta gave us a warm welcome with hugs and insisted on helping us with our luggage even though you basically have your own private elevator to the accommodation. Once you descend to the level of your room, you walk through a stone walled wine cellar with Salami's hanging from the ceiling while curing. The room is fresh and clean and modern. You have a lovely king or maybe Queen size bed, modern bathroom with a glass stall shower, a deep jacuzzi in front of the window with the panoramic view of the amalfi Coast with no obstructions. You have a 2nd door that takes you out to your private patio with an outdoor kitchen with tables and chairs. Every morning Vincenzo makes you a beautiful and plentiful breakfast. (You have the whole restaurant to yourself during breakfast!). We enjoyed peaking our head in the kitchen watching them prepare the food for the evenings meal. We also enjoyed talking and interacting with our new family! Breakfast is complimentary and included in their very reasonable nightly rates. Free parking on the street. We even rode the city bus at times and it was reliable and quick and cheap. Dinner at the La Tagliata restaurant is an absolute must (especially on the nights when they have live music). I can go on and on but if you want a place that is reasonable, with alot of character/charisma with great food slightly removed from the touristy crowds, this is the place for you!

Stayed in Limonella Room, outdoor kitchen, great family run trattoria and bed and breakfast. Free access to all their gardens, zucchini, ( inc flowers to stuff), peppers, capsicums, tomatoes, basil, mint, lemons, figs, etc so you cook for yourself free of charge. The family just want you to have fun. Don't want to cook? Walk downstairs and enjoy home cooked meals, be careful the servings are very generous. Views are amazing 1000 mtrs up overlooking Positano bay. Room is clean, glassed off from bathroom area ( rather cute actually) private courtyard with large wooden gate for privacy. Expect some noise as guest arrive past your gate to restaurant but it's a gently hub bub of noise. Music nights Tuesday and Saturday, can be loud .. Answer to that ...go down and join in. It is a blast. Parking on street, my car was there for a week no troubles. Bus down to Positano, often, cheap and a thrill!!! Positano roads are very narrow. Can't speak highly enough of family Mama, Papa, Vincenzo, Pepe and antonella, Pepe's lovely wife, Giorgia ( does booking) and Uncle Salvatore.
Go there for a good time, join in .. If you want quiet 5 star, whisper quiet, black tie eating... go somewhere else. These people have fun. After 2 months in Italy in four different locations this one was the best fun

We spend our summer holidays in la tagliata.
We were in room la limonella, a room with a bed and air conditioning, a king size bed and a nice bathroom. The place before the room (only for the guests who stay in the room) is fantastic, you have a great view down to position, a sperate fridge (one more in the room!) and a possibility to cook!
But cooking was not necessary because of the very good quality food in the restaurant.
Also the breakfast was good, typical italian, but when you want something special, no problem for vincenzo!
Two times a week live music (very good actors), was one of the other highlights!
The bus stop is just in front of the door, you can go by bus in about 20 min. directly down to positiano.
The understanding was no problem for us, nearly everyone speaks english in a comfort way (most of the time better than myself ;-)).
We already booked for the next year!

We had the opportunity to stay here for 9 days in the "La Botticella" room and it was magnificent! It was exactly as described in both the pictures and description. La Tagliata is located above Positano, in Montepertuso, so the views were breathtaking. We did not have a car and it was very easy for us to access the bus down to Positano and then go elsewhere along the Amalfi coast by ferry or bus. The gardens were amazing and the outdoor kitchen was great and fully equipped. Although they didn't have a washer and dryer, it was super easy to go to the laundromat in Positano. Eating at La Tagliata is highly recommended especially on a night when they have live music. We had so much fun and the food was amazing, everything is homemade, including the wine, and the limoncello, definitely the best value in the area! Just thinking about it is making my mouth water, Mama makes the best food! On top of that, the owners were amazing, it is a family run business and they treated you like family. The whole family was a treat! Giorgia, whom we made the reservation with, was very patient with my questions; she made arrangements for us to hire a car to pick us up where we were staying in Naples and then take us to back to the Naples airport when we left. Antoinetta was a gem, she made arrangements and recommendations for us to go sightseeing, told us the best places to eat, she was always checking in on how we were doing and even drove us down to Positano when we had missed the bus! I would absolutely stay here again, and would 100% recommend it to anyone looking to stay around Positano.

My wife and I just returned from an absolutely perfect ten day honeymoon at La Tagliata. We did not want to leave! The lisitng is absolutely accurate. The views and amenities at this cliff-side inn are absoluely beautiful and breathtaking in every respect. Everyone associated with this family-run restaurant and custom suites is gracious, welcoming, and incredibly friendly. You will never meet kinder or more personable people anywhere.

The property is extremely clean and well maintained. We were greeted with a fruit tray and bottle of champagne on ice in our room. Our entire customer service experience can only be described as absolutely perfect. While a wireless internet connection is available in your room, if you're looking for English speaking news, bring a radio for the BBC. Virtually all television programming is in Italian.

We arrived at the Naples Airport and were greeted by a driver that I had pre-arranged. I highly recommend this strategy as La Tagliata is located on a road adjacent to a high cliff above Positano. It might be somewhat challenging to locate for the first time visitor, especially one driving from Naples. However, the inn is serviced by public bus service that runs on the hour for easy access to downtown Positano.

The food and service at the restaurant is beyond compare. La Tagliata serves the finest cousine and wines I've ever enjoyed anywhere. Truly organic foods are the order of the day. The restaurant specializes in pasta, beef, pork, and lamb dishes. However, fresh seafood of any variety can be requested a day in advnace. My wife and I ordered pasta with mussels and calamari for our last dinner. It was simply superb!

Positano provides easy access to the Island of Capri and nearby Sorento. A number of other local tours are also available. Thre are also lots of hiking opportunities in the area. The local shopping is great too. What else I can I say? My wife and I hope to return to La Tagliata in the very near future. On a scale of 1-10, we give La Tagliata an "11".
