Dirty - lots of ants
I rented the cottage last year with my family and had nothing but problems. The cottage was extraordinarily dirty it did not have many of the features it proclaimed in this ad. There is no grill is a stone pit that is filthy and I'm cleanable. There're ants everywhere. The upstairs is so hot that one of my relatives almost died from heat stroke. It is not even close to the ocean and if you do you have to wear shoes because shortcut yourself I don't the barnacles everywhere and the water is several hundred feet away and you barely have a view of it. I don't complain much on review site but will really ticked off is we had a small mistake as leaving the owner tried to steal the whole security deposit from us and took much more than a fair share of the security deposit for simple five dollar mistake.
Owner's Response: This renter came to the house before renting it to see if it would accommodate his grandmother in a wheel chair. He walked all through the house. He looked at both the upstairs and the downstairs. He looked at the stone fireplace where we grill outside, and he walked down to the shore from the house to check it out before renting. It is odd that he complains of the distance to the swimming cove as he walked it himself, and saw the exact distance before renting the house. It is odd that he complains about our dual level stone fireplace grill (see photo please) as he took a closehand look at it before deciding to rent the house It is also odd that he has complaints about the cleanliness of our home as he decided to rent the house after inspecting it thoroughly. Our cottage does not claim to have air conditioning. There are fans in every bedroom and sea breezes blowing in the windows, but some days in summer are indeed quite hot. After this family group left at 11 am, we called them to bring to their attention that two king size pillows from the master bedroom, with shams, were missing from the house. They told us that they could not find the two king size pillows and we had to scurry and replace them before the next renters arrived at 4 pm that same day. We sent them a refund check for $538 (out of $600) which reflected the cost of replacing the high quality king pillows and shams which they had removed from the house. This approaching summer of 2012 will be the third summer that we have rented the house. Our three lady team of cleaners is ready to go to work again this summer. They work from 11 am until 4 pm when the new group arrives scrubbing the kitchen, stove and refrigerator, bathrooms and, after vacuuming, damp mop all the floors in the house. Each bed is made up fresh, and blankets and bedspreads checked and washed if spotted. We are glad that six of the weeks of summer 2012 have been rented by return groups! We look forward to seeing them again!
