We stayed in this beautiful home for an absolutely memorable month. The ocean captured our hearts immediately and our amazing accommodations exceeded our expectations. Every detail of the house makes it comfortable and top of the line. It is obvious that it is not just rented out but done so in a way that offers complete comfort and ease. While there we rescued a sea lion and had our chance to see another right before we left. We saw dolphins almost daily, did workouts, yoga, biking and played while on the beach each day as well. We visited the aquarium, zoo, planetarium, science museum and Disneyland as well. It was a lovely vacation and we cannot wait to come back again. Steve and Sherry made our stay perfect and they were so wonderful and welcoming before we even arrived. We would highly recommend this property to anyone!!!

Our family stayed in the upper and lower unit of this house and had a blast. The location was excellent, both units are charming, and we're already hoping to return to the same house for a vacation in 2014. Owners were super friendly. I have stayed at around 15 different places using Home Away, and this was my favorite so far.

My two sisters, mother, brother and I stayed at this wonderful home to celebrate my brother's 67th birthday with him! It was very special and made for the most precious memories we will cherish as my brother battles aggressive prostate cancer. He enjoyed walks on the beach, a short bike ride and sitting on the most charming and comfortable deck watching amazing sunsets and soaking in every last drop of beauty! The owners were extremely hospitable, the home had every amenity we could imagine and more! The rooms were beautifully decorated, beds were heavenly, beautiful live orchids were a plus for us, and the charming decor made you feel like you were in paradise! Loved the location, beach front was spectacular and owners were extremely kind and hospitable. It couldn't have been more perfect! I would highly recommend this home and hope to return again soon!

I'm a native Californian who has been living on the east coast for over 20 years. My entire family still lives in Cali and I come back often for visits. I have rented beachfront homes on both the east coast and west coast, once or twice a year for the past 20 years. And I own a beach house myself. Sherry and Stevens beach home by far offers the best of all worlds. The location is perfect as it sits on a very wide, fine, white sand beach with unobstructed ocean and sunset views!!! The beach is also very private as it caters to private homes--not hotels and condos. Yet the oceanfront, beach bike path allows easy ride to Marina del Rey, Venice Beach and Santa Monica. Plus, it is so central to Beverley Hills, Malibu, LA, San Diego-about 15-25 minutes by car. This is an incredible home base for anyone wanting to explore the best of California.

Besides all of that, the house scores a great big 10. Shery and Steven maintain this home like it is a private residence. The entire home has quality furnishings including the linens, dishes and cookware. The modern kitchen has everything. The tiled bathrooms are immaculate. And the beds are big, comfy and plush. Every square inch is clean and cared for. The decor is tasteful, quintessential California. They even had beautiful live orchids in full bloom throughout. They must update this home continuously.

But my favorite part of the home is the large deck. It has a dining area and ample seating...PLUS, a daybed with big overstuffed cushions. I made it a point to be on the deck every day at sunset. I'd lounge on the bed with a cocktail and sometimes would drift off--this is highly unusual for my type A personality.

I don't know how they keep the home so polished. I will certainly refer all my friends and family. Whenever I am in So.Ca., this will be my first choice.

Sherry & Steve think of everything! I work in luxury hotels for a living and found the beach house for my parents to visit LA over the holidays. They stayed for two weeks and everything about the property is up to par with staying in a nice hotel. I chose Playa Del Rey due to its proximity to my home in Venice and the airport. Playa Del Rey is an LA gem and I highly recommend it to any traveler.
Sherry & Steve go out of their way to keep the house stocked with everything you will need. The added amenities they provide make the beach house a good value. Our family has rented several beach houses before and none of them compared to this! We hope to return one day.

We just finished our second stay at this property. We were downstairs last spring, and returned to try the upstairs unit over Thanksgiving, Both are great - the upstairs has more room and a great deck, but the downstairs has direct beach access. Staying here is a rare opportunity to be literally ON THE BEACH, and we take advantage of it with daily walks, bike rides on the beach path, etc. All this is great, but I would say that the thing that made us return was the excellent service and hospitality of the owners. We've stayed at a lot of vacation rentals over the years - this one is the best equipped, and Sherry really anticipates every need and makes sure that everything is right.

Sherry's Home Away From Home was incredible. Her personal touches and high end furniture/decor, bedding, linens, towels, kitchen accessories, etc made our long weekend in LA so incredibly relaxing. We even cooked in for 8 people, opened up the big coffee table (with two leaves that open to seat 10), and enjoyed a wonderful meal together at same table! Everything in this home is top notch; I have always looked forward to returning to my own bed; for once, I wanted to keep the master bed for myself; so incredibly comfortable. And Sherry goes the extra step to welcome; maps, restaurant menus, entertainment options, wireless internet, local "frequent shopper card" for grocery story, even daily newspaper delivery. And the location and view; absolutely gorgeous and relaxing. Thank you Sherry!

I only have great things to say about this beach rental property. The owners are very thoughtful and had everything my family needed to enjoy our family union in their beach house. We had a party of 7 adults and 2 small children. The house is clean, parking space is provided, and all the extras a beach house needed was there like sand toys, beach chairs, beach towels, binoculars and an excellent grill. The patio faced the beach and ocean which was very lovely because our 96 year old great grandmother was able to enjoy the fresh ocean air while watching the rest of the family and my 1 and 3 year kids play on the sand 25 feet away.

I cannot recommend this rental enough. Please note, this is a 2 unit rental. I rented the upstairs unit and was hyper sensitive about how loud my 1 and 3 year old because I didn't want to bother anyone. I received no complaints so I think the house is very well insulated. We had no issues with noise with one exception. We had a couple of guys debating the presidential candidates right outside the house in the driveway for 30 minutes at 2am but the police quickly arrived and encouraged them to move on.
