The Great Escape!

Long island is a place where time and beauty stand still. Be it a romantic get away or a place to relax and have a great time with friends, long beaches filled with white sand accompanied by blue skies & oceans. The home cooking is amazing! Talk about fresh fish, how about out of the water and into the frying pan within 4 hours? You get to go fishing and have someone prepare it as your like. The folks are friendly and warm like the weather. Ryan's Ocean View is spacious with a breeze and beautiful view at every turn. All the rooms and the kitchen are specious and offers all the conveniences of home. Did I mention the jacuzzi? Talk about a great place to RELAX AND UNWIND!! THIS IS IT.
Enjoy, I know I did.

We stayed for 2 weeks at Ryans Ocean View in December. The house is very comfortable with a beautiful view and a short walk down to the beach in a quiet neighborhood. We went fishing one day and came home and cooked the fish on the grill that is on the patio. We are building a home on Long Island so we spent a lot of time working on getting this started so it was nice to be able to go home and relax on the porch or in the spa.

A Caribbean Gem!

Ryan's Ocean View is a well-maintained and beautifully decorated home with much attention to detail. It is the ideal getaway for peace and quiet with plenty of privacy. Internet access was good; lots of books with current titles; brilliant night skies great for stargazing; a cozy hottub; a well-equipped kitchen for preparing meals with freshly caught fish from the local docks; nearby beach for walking long distances and beachcombing. All you need are great companions!

While away from the home, we drove from one end of the island to the other and enjoyed incomparable bonefishing, snorkeling at Dean's Blue Hole where we saw schools of colorful fish, eating superb conch salad at Max's Conch Bar where we celebrated the birthday of one of our friends, great views from Rowdy Boys restaurant, white sands of gorgeous beaches including Morton's, and visiting with very friendly local residents. I only wish we could have stayed longer, and yes, I highly recommend Ryan's Oceanview. You just can't get any better!
Owner's Response: Thank you for the opportunity to Serve..... We look forward to your return!

Cheers!

We spent a week on Long Island and had the pleasure of staying at Ryan's Ocean View in Miley. The house is situated on top of a hill which allows fantastic views from both the front and back of the house. The views are even more beautiful than the pictures show!! Patrice made sure we had some basics in the house when we arrived since it was Sunday and the grocery stores are closed. The house is very clean and well equipped. The upstairs has a large master suite which was quite spacious. One of my favorite things was to enjoy a glass of wine with my husband while in the outdoor hot tub on the back porch overlooking the ocean. So relaxing!! The house is only about 20 minutes from one the most beautiful beaches on the island in Gordon. Don't miss out on seeing Dean's Blue Hole and stopping at the end of the road to Compose Rose where there are pools formed by the rocks in the ocean. We have traveled a lot to many of the islands in the Bahamas...the people of Long Island are some of the most friendliest people I have ever met and I love that the island isn't spoiled by too much commercialism...it truly has an island feel. Thanks Patrice for sharing your slice of Paradise with us...we couldn't have picked a nicer place to stay. We hope to return soon!

A Great Place to Stay

Submitted: April 24, 2012 Stayed: February 2012
The house was EXACTLY as represented on-line. Very clean, comfortable, and nice amenities. The view from the porch is beautiful, and there are many nice beaches within a 10 minute drive. Dean's Blue Hole is 10 minutes away! The beach below the house is nice, but not great for swimming as the waves are quite rough. The internet works fantastically and Ingrid kept the house in tip-top shape by cleaning mid- week. No complaints at all about this wonderful home, it's a great place to stay!

Happy Easter on Long Island

Submitted: April 14, 2012 Stayed: March 2012
Thank you a lot for one of our best Easter holidays. Our family stayed 2 weeks with 2 kids of 10 years at this silent and beautiful beach place. As we arrived Ingrid picked us up with the girl from the car rental at the airport and guided us to the house - passing a supermarket. The house is well equiped with very nice interior - execpt a dishwasher wich is missing. As we arrived we had no outside table - but Ingrid came back within one hour with a helpful new garden table. We had a lot of outdoor dinners with a barbecue - caught at the beach! We took the table around the house terraces and we found every day a place without wind. Ingrid gave us some information what is necessary to see at this caribean island like: Deans blue hole for snorkling, the rock-pools at compass rose or the wonderful beach at Galloway or Gordons at the caribean side (take the left road with the blue barrel at the corner on the way to Clarence Town - look for the writing galloway). During our stay we were mostly alone at the awsome beaches. From the house you have to walk only 1 minute to the beach - the best place for swimming during all weather conditions is the beach on the right side in 10 Minutes walking distance with shallow turquise water. Every late afternoon we did bottom fishing directly in front of our house (start 2 hours before sunset, best with coming flood, cast out on the sandy parts close to the rocks, put on a 100-150 grams weight and a 1/0 hook with half a squid - which you can get frozen in all supermarkets - and wait 10 Minutes) We caught a lot of Snapper, Jackfish and Triggerfish for the barbecue. If you like to go bonefishing - ask Ingrid for a trip with Elvis - he is the best guide - you will catch your bone. Going for Deep Sea fishing was quite too expensive (600 for a simple boat up to 1200 US professional boat for a one Day charter). The best restaurant in closer distance ist Rowdys bar and grill - very good food, but not really cosy or nice. If you look for a caribean beach bar, waterfront location - grill or someting like that - it will be hard to find for you on long island. If you look for entertainment and show - we can remommend you to go to to the Marina in late afternoon to see the yacht-guys feeding the 8 feet lemon sharks close to their boat - ther is no other entertainment. If you look for a silent nature experience with the ocean next to you Ryans Ocean View is the perfect place to go. We would recommend this house for you. Family Lehmbecker

Third Time and Still Loving It!

My husband and I have stayed at Ryan's Oceanview twice in the past and decided to plan a trip with my sister and her two teenagers (14 & 18) to visit once again. I cannot begin to empasize how pleasant it is to work with Patrice and Bill; they are extremely accommodating to our every need. They offered and provided a Wii for the kids (they were too distracted to use it) and kept contact with us prior to and during the trip to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying our stay. Ingrid greeted us at the airport and was kind enough to shop for provisions for us since it was Sunday and the markets were closed. The fridge was stocked with everything we had asked for. Ingrid also checked in on us and procurred 3 lobster tails for us to enjoy as well. Ryan's Oceanview is one of the most beautiful and well-kept rental homes we have ever stayed in; no detail has been spared and the home comes with every ammenity you could need while being away from home. We tend to cook our dinners at home rather than go out every night and the kitchen is very well-stocked with everything you could possibly need. The beds are comfortable and the AC blows cool when you need it.

We enjoyed dinner at Rowdy Boys and the small waterfront restaurant at Flying Fish Marina (very inexpensive and good food). We, of course, had to make a trek to Max's Conch Bar for the delicious conch salad. Everything we've ever tried on their menu is very good!

We soaked up some sun at the beaches at Galloway, Lowe's Beach and Lochabar. We even swam with 2 eagle rays at Lochabar and collected so many sand dollars I've lost count! The color of the water at these beaches is indescribable and committed to my memory to visit mentally on cloudy days.

My sister, who is often hard to please, raved about the home and said she'd love to come back again. My husband and I will definitely be back again in the (hopefully near) future! Thank you Patrice, Bill, Ryan and Ingrid for another wonderful vacation!
Owner's Response: We sincerely appreciate the opportunity to serve you and look forward to your return.

Cheers!

Better than we expected....

We have traveled a good bit in the Caribbean (St. Johns, Virgin Gorda, Mexico, Belize, and to Eleuthera/Bahamas); always seeking out an adventure—wanting to be to ourselves, hunting down secluded, amazing beaches and snorkeling spots. Long Island has delivered. Having explored the island from North to South, there is no shortage of amazing finds. As in a previous post, dirt roads often lead you to stunning beaches (on both sides) without a soul around. The best snorkeling was on our last day—just right of Ryan’s View, at ‘the point’ (calm waters required); the underwater topography was stunning—saw a Hawksbill turtle and schools of varied fish. Very good clarity up to 20 feet. Second best snorkeling was at the Northern tip of the island—also a beautiful beach. The view from Ryan’s is amazing and the beach, with incredibly soft sand, is definitely one of our favorites, and perfect for flying a kite! There's always a nice breeze and the sound the sound of waves. The water is just a bit cool in February, so great to have a hot tub to warm up in at the end of the day. The house is lovely—aside from the quality décor/furnishings, we appreciate how clean it is (and smells!), especially being so close to the beach; we could not be more comfortable. From start to finish, Patrice and Ingrid went out of their way to assure we had whatever we needed. We so appreciated their warmth and hospitality—Ryan’s View has exceeded our expectations. Paradise found!

A True Haven

This villa is really lovely, inside and out. On a hillside over a quiet windswept beach, it offers an amazing respite from the world. The owners have put a lot of care and thought into the amenities--comfortable beds, nice furniture, equipped kitchen, plus many little touches--to make it a first-class experience. Ingrid met our flight and got us settled. When there was an issue with the internet, it was immediately dealt with. Long Island itself is very quiet and rugged--not "resorty" in any way, which we appreciated. We had a great time discovering empty calm beaches at the end of long dirt roads, eating at Max's, and reveling in how "away" from everything we felt. We definitely hope to return!

A Great Anniversary Getaway!

5 of 5
Submitted: July 30, 2011 Stayed: July 2011
“Ryan’s View” lived up to it’s great reputation as a fun and relaxing getaway in paradise. The owners, Patrice and Bill were just finishing up their own vacation at Ryan’s View, and so we had the great fortune to have them pick us up at the airport and give us the grand tour of the area and their home in Miley. They are incredibly kind and hospitable and we became instant friends. Patrice went to great lengths to make sure our trip was wonderful in every way. We were
introduced to Ingrid who answered all our questions about Long Island, and who took excellent care of the home, keeping us stocked up with fresh towels and linens, and all the comforts of
home.
The house was incredibly beautiful with its wrap-around porches, beautiful furnishings, and a view of the ocean that was to die for! And there is a gorgeous beach just down the path which you can walk on for miles.
The sunrises and sunsets at Ryan’s view were awe-inspiring. We woke up every morning to experience the colorful sunrise. And with the hot tub on the deck, what a great way to end theday- gazing at the stars while relaxing in the hot tub.
We enjoyed exploring the beautiful beaches and sites of Long Island, and in our opinion, the most beautiful beaches are on the south of the island, either at Ryan's view or nearby. The Beaches on the Atlantic side are breath taking with their darker blue waters and bigger waves, (we even saw a surfer one day). While the beaches on the Caribbean side are the classic aqua blue, shallow waters, with white sand beaches. We enjoyed Gordon's beach, the pools at Bonacorde, Galloway beach, and a few shipwrecks along the coast. We made the trip to Columbus Point, located on the northern tip of the island. It was well worth the trip, as we were able to see the beauty of the northern tip of the island, and have fun exploring along the way. We loved the local cuisine, and our favorite were the conch meals at Rowdy Boys, and the Outer Edge.
"Ryan's View" was a perfect way to celebrate our 20th Anniversary!
Thank you Patrice and Bill for sharing your little piece of paradise with us!
