We have been back to the mainland for two months, and are still talking about our wonderful "home" in Kona! Our family visited the Big Island for a memorial/birthday trip. We had plenty of room in the house to entertain everyone at once without tripping over each other. The kitchen was furnished beautifully, and was easy to prepare our meals in. The highlight of the home was definitely all the lanais, especially the main lanai with the doors that disappear into the walls to create a space that brings the ocean into the home. We played many games and ate all our meals on the lanai while listening to the waves crash on the rocks below and watching a pod of dolphins frolic just off shore. We enjoyed being close enough to town and the beaches that we could walk to, and the privacy wall and gate (not to mention the constant ocean) kept the noise of Alii Drive to a minimum. While we were inside the home and enjoying the ocean sounds and views from the lanai, it felt as if we were worlds away instead of on the "main drag". The small sand box and ocean access below the house gave yet another space to enjoy...being avid fishermen, the guys really loved fishing from the rocks below. Thank you again for sharing your beautiful home with us! We cannot rave enough about it, and if we ever get the chance to stay in Kailua-Kona again, we will definitely look up Hale Honu as a place to stay! Mahalo!!
