Best of the Vacation West

This impeccably clean and tastefully furnished place still resonates with my wife and our three children whenever I mention it. Every detail in this home speaks reverently of the love this couple shares for living in close proximity to natural wonders, including Yellowstone and the Henry's Fork. Although we cooked inside the well-furnished kitchen most nights—or out on the grill on the deck—we also found superb dining at Philips Lodge (ten minutes away) and at Henry's Fork Lodge (twenty minutes away). I've since gone back alone for a week without my family on at least two recent occasions to find good food at The Trout Hunter as well. Because of frequent visits, I've become friendly with the owners who have always gone miles out of their way to make my stays worry-free. I hope the original water colors and oil paintings by Russell Case are still on the walls when I return, as I intend to do soon. I noticed in signing the guest book that at least one Hollywood actor had discovered what I had: one of the most distinguished and comfortable hideouts in the West at a price even a fly-fishing school teacher can afford (from time to time). I woke up one morning in the master bedroom to a view of the Grand Tetons in the far distance. On another morning I passed the fireplace and looked out the window and across the deck to see a moose staring back at me. Views from other windows are all pleasant, not spectacular, but extraordinary. The garage is big enough for two full-sized pickups, and the parking area is also ample. The neighbors are seldom if ever home, and even when they are, I never see or hear them. My family and I have seriously talked about spending another vacation together here. The house has three separate floors and three bathrooms, so everyone is guaranteed plenty of privacy. It might be a little big for a two-person romantic adventure, but not really, not if you appreciate grace and space, as my wife and I do. I keep recommending the place to friends and relatives, but so far no one has ever taken up the opportunity, which is why I decided to write a review.
