We stayed at the Honua Kai in (2012) and decided to head back again this year (2013) as we loved it so much. For our return visit, we wanted a larger unit (4 adults, 1 child) and this one worked out perfectly.Matt & Melanie were wonderful to work with - quick to respond and very informative. The unit was exactly as described and being a corner unit, it was full of sunlight and views of the mountains.

I would definitely book this unit again. This is our third trip to the Honua Kai, but our first in using this unit. We really enjoyed the extended space that the corner unit offered. Not only was the living space bigger, but so was one of the bedrooms and closet. My husband and I, plus our twin 1 year olds and 3 year old son went along with my mother-in-law, and I didn't feel like the unit was too small. We were able to use the port-a-cribs, just make sure to let the property manager know you plan on using it so she can get extra sheets for you from the owner's closet.

It was also well stocked with items down to the smallest detail. An example of this is the hand soap that is offered in the kitchen and bathrooms and the fact that you still get the Honua Kai pool towels as opposed to using your own. There is even a single child stroller for use! Great for families with small kids. The owners were very professional and quick to respond. We had a great experience with our communication with them.

One thing to note is that this unit is on the NE side of the building and it does get quite windy at the Honua Kai, the lanai door did have a hard time staying open, and so it would be great to get some additional locking mechanism as the magnet that is provided wasn't enough to keep the door secured.

We had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful condo for over two weeks this past January. My husband and I stayed with my parents and were thrilled with the unit. The unit was huge and provided lots of space for everyone. There are two master suits with their own bathroom and lots of closet space. The unit had everything we needed from kitchen utensils to beach supplies and we made use of it all! We learned how much we loved boogie boarding and even used some of the sandcastle equipment because you are never too old to build a sandcastle! The pictures are a very good representation of the unit and we found it very easy to book and our stay there was flawless. Would recommend this unit when you have the opportunity to visit Maui!

We recently returned from a wonderful 8 night stay. The condo was in excellent condition - just as pictured. It is a nice, bright corner unit with great views to the north and east. Beds were comfortable, lots of bath towels and extra pillows available. We loved having the coded key pad for the front door. There were beach towels, a couple of beach chairs, sand toys and boogie boards all available to use. The kids loved boogie boarding at DT Fleming beach - about 10 min. drive north of the condo. Duke's restaurant is on site, they have great food and wonderful views. Whalers village is a bit of a walk - 47 min with a 7 & 10 year old in tow. There is a Times grocery store close by - an easy walk - also, Pizza Paradiso in the same mall has really good pizza. The condo also has wifi, which worked well.
The whole process of booking this condo went really well. Matt answered all emails promptly. Michelle, the property manager was waiting for us when we first arrived to walk us through the condo. We would not hesitate to book this condo again.

Really enjoyed our eight evenings at this property. The unit was modern, clean, quiet and very well equipped. There is snorkel equipment, beach towels and toys at the unit at no additional cost.
The beds were very comfortable and the washrooms and showers were expansive and up-to-date.
The property offered lots of choices for swimming and the beach was clean, quiet and safe.
Duke's restaurant on site served wonderful breakfasts. We had a trouble getting served late in the lunch period. Lots of additional recreation and restaurant choices nearby. There is even a grocery store an easy walk across the street. Overall a trouble free transaction with excellent support from the owners and property manager. Would definitely recommend to family and friends. Huge value for the price point.

We went with our 5 year old daughter and 13 month old son. The condo was very comfortable with plenty of space. A pack-and-play and stroller were provided. We loved the huge windows and balcony and the comfy beds! It was so easy to take the kids to the pools and hot tubs. They also both loved the beach. The condo provided sand toys and beach chairs - very nice. The kitchen was simple and modern, had everything needed. We came to Honua Kai based on a friend's recommendation, and we would highly recommend the place now too. GREAT for families with kids.

My family and I just returned from Maui. We stayed in this condo from 9/27 - 10/4. It was exactly what my family was looking for. This was the first time I had used VRBO and was pleasantly surprised. I have been in the Hotel Industry for over 20 years and was hesitant to book a condo. I have several friends that have recommended VRBO. After weeks of research, we found the perfect vacation condo that exceeded my expectations!

It really started with Matt. We booked our reservation and it was a seamless process. NO Worries!!! He was exceptionally nice and professional. He was always prompt in his communication with any questions I had about our stay. Thank you Matt!

The condo is beautiful. It mainly had a mountain view, (we loved it, we are from Texas!!). The beds and linens were luxurious and comfortable. It had every amenity that we needed. We used the fully equipped kitchen every day to make breakfast. The condo had hard wire internet. My only recommendation is to add wireless internet.

The grounds and public areas of Honua Kai are beautiful and well maintained. We were at the pool daily and had great poolside service from Duke's. The beach is just right! We have a young child that built sand castles and did not have a care in the world!!

Thank you again for such a wonderful place to stay on our Maui vacation. We highly recommend this condo. We look forward to our return in the near future.

We just returned from an almost 2 week stay at The Honua Kai.This VRBO rental proved to be the perfect place for a fabulous vacation. The place felt so new, exactly as pictured. The unit is tucked away in the corner, and always quiet-we couldn't even hear 2 parties down the hall one evening. Melanie is very thoughtful, making sure the comforts of home were available. From the kitchen to being very well equipped (even a blender to make yummy smoothies), to the many extra pillows and towels. We loved the extra beach goodies we found in the closet-beach towels, boogie boards, beach chairs, umbrellas, sand toys. The resort itself was fabulous, the kids enjoyed the many pools and the beach steps away. Daily koi fish feeding was fun. Gym is adequate. A few tips-do stop at the only Costco by the Kahului airport to stock up. The bell hop will help bring all of your groceries upstairs. For fans of fresh mochi, highly recommend visiting Maui Speciality Chocolates in Kahului..words cannot explain how good the dark chocolate truffle or peanut butter mochi is. Dukes is fabulous for breakfast. Leoda's Kitchen and Pie shop is a yummy little lunch spot. Maui Swap Meet (really a farmer's market, including lots of local finds) is worth the drive out on a Saturday morning.
