Born in Cape May county, New Jersey, the ocean has been in my blood all my life. My first time away from the ocean was when I went to college and I used to listen to the ocean in a conch shell and dream of it. Later, I moved to San Diego because I wanted to be able to enjoy the ocean year 'round.
I visited Saba in 2002, fell in love with the island, the diving, hiking, and most of all, the world's friendliest and most loving people, so I kept returning. I eventually bought my little piece of paradise and feathered my nest with loving care with efficiency (I operate my business from the villa when I am on island), privacy, entertaining and relaxation in mind. Hummingbird Villa truly has every amenity and comfort and I share it with love.
I had put an offer in on a cottage, but my friends on Saba kept insisting that I go to see 'Mandy's house' (which I renamed Hummingbird Villa). I kept saying, 'No, I can't afford it,' but they insisted. Mandy invited me to visit during sunrise, so I walked over to the house at 4:30 AM and witnessed the most spectacular sunrise of my life. I had my yoga mat in hand, as I was going to stop at the gym on my way back to Jo Bean's, where I was staying. Mandy invited me to do yoga in the great room. The 18' wide, raised, pine planked floors licked my feet with warmth and were the best yoga experience I had had to date. The soothing sounds and smell of the ocean, along with the chirping of the birds, felt like home and I knew this was meant to be.
