Diana and her husband Henry keep an immaculate home. It was newly renovated and actually even prettier than the pictures showed. We could not have been more pleased with the accommodations, and we got a lot of use out of the wood-burning stove. This was a "boys weekend away", and we were looking forward to some hiking and fishing. Henry was very helpful setting us up with his boat and pointing out good spots to hit on the pond. The two decks overlooking Greenwater Pond were absolutely beautiful. I would be amiss however not to point out two rather surprising (and disappointing) discoveries. The house is actually on a property with a 8-room motel. Although the residents are gone during the day, we weren't envisioning having a motel right on the premises of what we thought to be a secluded home in the Berkshires. The second issue (and by far most surprising), was that we found out on the second day that there was actually a tenant renting out a finished basement in the home. Never was this shared with us at any point, and we would have never selected it had we known. I really felt disappointed that these things were not shared with us prior to committing to the property. That said, as long as you are not looking for a secluded getaway “away from it all“, I would not hesitate recommending this home to anyone who is looking for an immaculate, conveniently located home with beautiful views of Greenwater Pond. Diana and Henry are gracious and kind owners looking to make your stay a pleasant one.
Owner's Response: Hi: We love our property here and enjoy sharing it with our clients and guests. The home is situated on Greenwater Pond on 2.7 acres. There is an 8 room motel across the parking area from the house, on a diagnal. It can be sparsly seen through the kitchen window. It is not visible from the rear decks. No home renters have ever been inconvenienced by the hotel guests. They are in separate buildings, like a neighbor would be. The apartment in the finished basement has a separate entrance and separate parking area and cannot access the house. The current tenant is only there about 2 days a week, as their main home is out of state. The homeaway website only allows us to advertise one housing unit per site, so we cannot offer this apartment with the house on this site. Nor should the motel be advertised on this site. The house is different situation and not part of the motel business. However, most people who've rented the house do not live too far away, and often are in the area at various times during the year. We have encouraged, and many have accepted viewing the house and property, before actually renting. Then the situation will be obvious, and most people who've come here to look at the property, have not been dissuaded from renting because there is a basement apartment largely unoccupied or a motel across the parking area. Come on down (or up) and take a look. It's profoundly beautiful up here in the Berkshires. Diana.
