First time to use HomeAway.
I happened to be the best man on a Bachelor party and wanted/needed a place big enough for everyone to stay under one roof. We had 10 guys and it was plenty of room to be comfortable.
My flight arrived later then the first arriving guest, and they advised me that Debrah (Owner) was there on the arrival, gave them keys, a tour, and set out the rules. Which were basically, eat, and stay hydrated, and use your head. :) Made since to me.
We partied our faces off, followed the rules, respected the house, neighbors, and had a legendary trip.
We were all excited to see that the house was so nice, well kept, and plenty of amenities to use. This house has a full kitchen with everything you need to cook a 5 course meal, and more towels and blankets for the comfort needed while on vacation.
Our group stopped at the local grocery store and bought plastic cups/plates and snacks and did not get to utilize the kitchen in the full amount in which we could.
The nightlife: The title, around the corner from Jacque-Imos hits it on the head. 2-3 minute walk to Oak Street that had 4-5 bars/restaurants where we ate breakfast/lunch/dinner then hit Bourbon Street. It was nice to be in walking distance of bars/restaurants to watch the games during the day, also the house had a big screen in the living room, master bed, and kitchen.
No one had vehicles (which was a good thing) the cab ride to Bourbon was $25-30 w/ tip for a group of 5, and 10-15 minute ridetime. We would all pitch in or just alternate paying. Was a concern that ended up being hassle free. We also had the opportunity to ride public transit, although we never took advantage of that. (5-10 minute walk). Most cabs would be on the street when we walked out to Oak Street (2-5 minute walk) from house. Or call them ourself, or have the bars call for a pick up.
The house is absolutely beautiful and well maintained. It really made me feel the history of NOLA. It has a private upstairs bedroom with one queen, master bedroom one king, and detached living area with its own bathroom. Plus 2-3 queen beds, plus the sofa in the living room. Spent a lot of time on the front porch and sitting area in the yard too.
I am normally not a 5 star person, but everyone was comfortable and had a great time. I will defiantly be staying at this home again in the near future.
I plan to bring my family to visit and enjoy the culture of NOLA in this historical home. Great time. Can't wait to return.
